Chapter 69 - Father

Eric POV

I watched as Julia sparred with Carter. He was not going easy on her and she was holding her own. It killed me to watch her have to train this hard, but it was the only way she would be able to learn how to defend herself in her human form. Her wolf would help her but was limited unless they were in wolf form.

There was also the looming threat of her father. We had talked late into the night about how she would like to meet her father. I can appreciate her need for familial connection. I am simply concerned this is not the right time. And I am concerned about her father’s intentions.

If he went to this much trouble to try and acquire her, it does not bode well for his intentions. And how is he connected to the witch, Henrietta? So many questions. We needed our own seer. Someone who could see the future for us. But they were hard to come by, and we had not had success in finding one for the Kingdom.

Julia POV I looked to Eric in surprise. He put his phone on speaker phone and nodded to me to speak. “Hello?” I replied. I heard a swift intake of breath from the other end of the line. “Julia?” I heard come out in a somewhat strangled voice. “Yes. Who is this?” I demanded. “I am your father, Julia,” the man responded. “How do I know this is even real?” I asked. I had no connection to this voice. No immediate sense of recognition. No feeling like I was talking to a parent. “I understand you have questions,” he started to say when I interrupted him. “Questions? I have more than questions. I have years of wondering where the hell you were. Years of wondering if you even knew I existed. My mother never mentioned my father, so how do I know this is not some sick game for you?” I asked, as my voice cracked. A small part of me wanted to believe there was someone out there who I was related to. But not like this. Not rel

Eric POV My body tensed and I stepped in front of Julia to protect her from whoever was in front of us. I watched the woman move forward towards Julia, but I held my hand out stopping her in her tracks. “Do not come any closer,” I cautioned her. I had no qualms about killing this threat. “Julia,” the woman said softly. I glanced at Julia to see tears streaming down her cheeks. What the hell. Who was this woman? “It is not possible,” Julia mumbled as Cami moved forward. “What kind of joke is this?” Cami demanded angrily. “Who is she?” I asked tersely, needing to know what we were dealing with. “My mother,” Julia responded in a strangled voice. I looked between the woman and Julia and could see the family resemblance. But how was it possible? She died? Didn’t she? “You are an imposter,” I said angrily, moving towards the woman. I would not have Julia hurt more than she already had been. “Do not come an

    Julia POV “Why is that any different than what we already knew?” I asked, confused and angry at the situation we were in. I was in shock, I knew that. My mother was alive and standing in front of me. And all I could feel was bitterness and resentment. I should be rejoicing in her being alive, but I felt nothing but betrayal and hurt. “Guardian wolves are rare; a healing Guardian wolf is even more rare. We can heal other wolves as well as humans,” the man claiming to be my father stated. “That is a good thing. We could help many people,” I stated, unclear what the problem was. “Julia, sweetheart, you do not understand,” Eric started to say when I cut him off. “So, dumb it down for me, Eric. What is the problem?” I demanded angrily. Eric sighed, “If you heal too many people, you will die yourself. Once people realize you can heal wolves as well as humans, there are corrupt wolves who would sell you to the highest bidders;

Eric POV “Twins,” I heard over and over in my mind. I was elated to find out my mate was expecting our pups, but also terrified. We had so much on our plates. There was so much danger surrounding Julia. How would I be able to protect her and the twins? What did this even mean? Did this mean the Moon Goddess would bless the world with more Guardian wolves? “This is crap. We are leaving,” I heard Julia say as she turned to me seeking my support. “Eric?” she asked tentatively. I looked at her and wanted to tell her what she wanted to hear. I simply did not know if I could tell her that. “You do not believe them, do you?” Julia asked angrily. “I do not know what to believe,” I replied honestly. “If you are carrying our pups, we need to ensure your safety now more than ever,” I told her. “If she is expecting, I can protect her,” Cami said, stepping forward. “You cannot protect her like we can,” Lincoln growled at Cami.

Julia POV I was crushed. This should be the happiest time in my life, but it seemed it was the worst. How could so many things be falling apart like this? I started to walk past Eric, when he took hold of my arm and pulled me into his arms. I wanted to breakdown, but I knew I needed to be strong. “This is good news,” he murmured to me. “Then why does it feel like a death sentence?” I asked, my voice muffled by his chest. He leaned me back, “It is good news. You are having my pups,” he said as his lips gently captured mine. I pulled back slightly, “I am having babies,” I muttered as he chuckled. Getting used to the thought of having “pups” was going to take me a bit of time. “We have some serious things to discuss,” Eric suggested as I sighed. I knew we did, and I could anticipate what he was going to suggest. “I do not want to be without you,” I said to him, suddenly scared of the thoughts of being away from him. He loo

  • Rejecting the Prince's Mate   Chapter 75 - Complications

Eric POV I ran out of the building and towards the vehicles waiting for me. I knew Julia was safe with Jackson and Cami. I needed to get back to the Palace, make some adjustments as I did not know how long I would be away, and return to be with Julia. Twins. We were having twins. I could not believe it, but as I took a moment to breathe, I was excited. Thrilled at the thoughts of starting a family with Julia. I was worried about the future battle, but hoped she would have the pups before the battle came to us. We raced along the streets, until I felt a sigh of relief in seeing the palace. I immediately mind-linked Elizabeth, “I need to see you at my place immediately,” I said. Hearing the urgency through the link, Elizabeth agreed immediately, and I knew she would be waiting for me to arrive. I impatiently waited for the vehicle to stop before I jumped out and headed towards my house. The door swung open, and I saw both El

Eric POV What the hell just happened? “What do you mean you lost her?” I yelled into the phone. Elizabeth looked on with concern, wondering what to do to help. “Stay there. I am on my way,” I muttered as I hung up the phone and turned to walk out of the house. “Wait! What is happening?” Elizabeth demanded. “They lost Julia,” I said angrily, annoyed at being delayed from getting to my mate. “How?” Carter asked trying to help me focus. I took a breath, “They said she just disappeared in front of them. And now there is a wall in their way, and they cannot see or hear her,” I said desperately. If Lincoln or Laura did anything to Julia, I would hunt them down until the day I died and then I would destroy both of them. I could only pray to the Moon Goddess that both Lincoln and Laura would do everything in their power to protect Julia until I can get to her. “What about the tracker?” Carter said to me. “What

Julia POV “Blessed or cursed?” I heard from behind me. I whipped my head around and leapt into the person’s arms. “How did you find me?” I asked as I kissed Eric’s lips. “Remember when you lost your phone?” he asked as he returned my kisses. He was feeling my body for any injuries, assuring himself I was fine. I nodded, “I put a tracker in your phone. I wanted to do everything I could to ensure I would not lose you,” he shared with me. Tears filled my eyes, “I am grateful you did,” I replied as he hugged me tightly to him. He gently placed me on my feet, holding me under his shoulder. “What the fuck were you thinking?” he demanded of Lincoln, as he nudged me behind him. I knew Eric was tightly strung and ready to fight. “I was thinking of how best to protect my daughter,” Lincoln replied calmly. “You do not get to do that!” I yelled, before continuing, “You have never been my father and because you showed up, does not eras

Julia POV It had been six months since we had got rid of Henrietta for good. Martha had become a staple in our lives. She never tried to take over being anything more than an aunt to Beatrix. Cami had her baby boy. Jackson and she were in love of their little boy, and Beatrix was loving being an older sister. They named him Alex, a strong name for a strong boy. Layla was in love with Ethan and Lucas was his best friend. The four babies loved each other and were constantly searching for the others. “Life is blissful,” I murmured as we watched our babies. Eric was at work, Jackson as well and the two of us were on baby duty. I had started some online courses to work towards my social worker degree. I loved the courses, and found the right balance between the babies, Eric and my studies. As always, Eric was incredibly supportive of what I did. We were living a life of peace and quiet these days. But we we

Julia POV My sobs quickly diminish as I realize that Martha is standing in our home. “How did you get here?” I demanded quickly. I stood, tense, in front of her, as Cami moved to stand beside me. She had given Beatrix to Jackson. Both men were tense by our sides, as we waited for her to speak. “I managed to escape,” she replied quickly. “How could you escape so easily, after having been contained?” Cami asked. “I do not know. One minute I was contained, and the next I was able to escape,” she said, sounding somewhat confused, before adding, “And then I was here.”. “That sounds too coincidental,” I stated. I moved forward, expecting her to disappear in front of me. “Julia,” Eric cautioned, but it would not stop me from moving forward. “How do we know you are not another version of Henrietta?” I asked softly. “You do not know. Call in the Witches Council. They will be able to verify who I am,” Martha replied calmly.

Julia POV I stood there holding the doors closed, as Cami came to stand beside me. “Careful ladies, you do not want to hurt the little one,” Henrietta cautioned. “You would hurt your own child?” Cami asked, disgusted. “Of course not, but you might do so in your haste,” she replied. My eyes scanned the room. I saw Eric and Jackson were moving to either side of Henrietta. “Stop right there, or I will kill her,” Henrietta spat out. Everyone stopped moving, as I glanced back to ensure my babies were safe. They continued to sleep, which I prayed they would do until this was over. “You are all going to step back and let me leave with my daughter,” Henrietta said. Cami gasped, as Jackson stepped forward, “Not a chance, bitch.”. “Is that any kind of language to use around an impressionable mind?” she taunted. “Coming from someone like you, that is rich,” I said, as I continued to watch her movements. Julia POV “What the hell does that mean?” Jackson asked. We all sat there considering the words. “It could be the sister asking for help,” I suggested. “It could also be a ploy to trap us,” Eric said. Both were valid reasons given who we were working with. “What do we know about the sister?” I asked. “We do not know a lot. Just that she is Henrietta’s twin, she is powerful, like Henrietta,” Cami shared. “Was she ever considered the good witch?” Jackson asked. “I do not know if either would be considered a good witch,” she admitted, frowning. “I will contact the Witches Council,” Cami said as she stood and pulled out her phone. “Wait. What if this person does need help, will the Witches Council want to help? Or will they want to trap her and harm her?” Jackson asked. “Could it be the Witches Council who has her?” Eric added. Cami was looking between both men, when she threw up her hands, “I have no idea!”.

  • Rejecting the Prince's Mate   Chapter 116 - Help

Julia POV Morning and all its delicious busyness came quickly. The twins were up early, waiting to be fed. We were fortunate they were quickly adapting to a reasonable schedule. One I knew was not the norm for newborn babies. I enjoyed my time feeding my babies, while Eric got them cleaned up. “We make a great team,” Eric smiled, as we put the twins in their car seats. They were perfect when we wanted to transport them, and when we got downstairs so they could stay in them until we had their mat out so they could crawl around and make all the fun noises babies made. Cami and Jackson were coming over this morning. Cami had found something out in her research, that she wanted to share as soon as possible. She wanted to come last night, but Jackson put his foot down, indicating they had other things to do first. I suspect it was a celebration, and chuckled at how annoyed Cami would be to be stopped when on a mission.

Cami POV “How do you know who I am?” I asked, uncertain of what to say. “It is my job to know who is inquiring about me,” the individual responded. “Where are you?” I asked, wanting to get to my questions. “Do you think it would benefit me to share that information?” the individual responded. I paused. They were right. If I had the right person, who was in hiding, why would they try to help me? “Why are you hiding?” I asked. “Seriously? That is the question you want to ask me?” they taunted. I felt like I was on a time clock, and I did not know the skill testing question. “Why is your sister so mean?” I asked bluntly. I did not know if I was, in fact, talking to Martha, but it was worth a shot. I saw a smiley face with tears come across my screen. Are you kidding me?!? “She was born that way,” the individual responded. “So, you are her sister?” I tried to confirm. “I am someone very close to her,” th

Julia POV I looked at Laura, concerned with her reaction. Aside from the reality that it was rude, it was also odd that she would be so bothered. She had not given any indication she was this bothered before. In fact, she seemed to understand why Lincoln was being held in the dungeons. “I am sorry Laura, but he poses too big a risk for us to release him,” Elizabeth replied. “Julia and Eric will assume responsibility for him. They will ensure he does not harm anybody,” Laura said. My body tensed at what she was suggesting. Before I could even respond, Eric said, “Absolutely not. There are children to consider, Laura, and I am not prepared to put them at risk given what his intentions have been.”. Laura let out a soft growl, reminding us all that she had a dormant wolf inside of her. “Julia?” she asked, looking to me for some support. I shook my head, “I am sorry Laura, but I agree with Eric,” I stated. She looked at me an

Julia POV I watched my mother frown as she nodded her understanding of needing to wait for Elizabeth to make the decision. I was surprised she had started on this again, even with Henrietta gone. “Can I take the babies for a walk?” Laura asked. I looked at Eric and then to her, “I think it is too soon to be taking them out on walks,” I said to her. I saw the look of anger cross her face, before disappointment took its place. “What is going on, Laura?” I asked, confused with her behaviour. “I want to feel useful. I am doing nothing to help,” she replied. “There will be plenty of time to help with the babies. Right now, they are far to young to be away from me and Eric,” I shared with her. I knew what I was saying was silly. Of course they could be away from me, but Eric and I had discussed how we wanted this time to bond with our babies. “You do not trust me, do you?” Laura asked angrily. I looked at her in surprise, “Tr

Eric POV We had an amazing few days with just us and the babies. They were adjusting to a normal routine so quickly; we could not have been more blessed. “I think Layla is already showing signs of being a Guardian,” Julia said to me. “What?” I asked, surprised and a little concerned. “There is this look in her eye, like she is far more advanced than having just been born a few days ago,” Julia shared. “We will have to do our best to encourage them both to stay young. I do not want them growing up too fast. There is a lot of responsibility that comes with being a Guardian,” I shared. “I agree. I only found out once I was grown, I cannot imagine the pressure she will be under at such a young age,” Julia agreed. As we continued to talk, I heard footsteps coming from the hallway. Laura came around the corner, “Am I intruding?” she asked, prepared to leave the room. “Not at all. We were just admiring the babie
