20-1: preparations

Emmanuelle had taken Harry upstairs to her "bedroom." In reality, this room served more as a set to give the illusion that she was sleeping, like any average human. Therefore, over the years, she had made sure to make it as comfortable as possible by respecting the trends and fashions of the mortal world.

The bedroom was large, with an impressive four-poster bed at the back against a stone wall. It was an imposing piece of heavy, sturdy wrought metal, a gift from Augustine, which had been welded and then sealed into the foundation to ensure its stability. The heavy velvet drapes served as protection from the sun when Bianca decided to stay over after a night of drinking.

Over the years, Emmanuelle had offered a room, among the many empty spaces in her villa, to her protégée. But, the human and the vampire always ended up sleeping in each other's beds after chatting until late at night.
