"Imelda wake up!" Caleb kicked me and I groaned.
"I'm trying to die peacefully.""Get up idiot, you're not dying," he kicked me harder this time and I opened my eyes to glare at him angrily. He held on to his blood stained knife and helped me up."I thought I was dead.""No you are not but you won't be lucky next time so get your shit together," he glared angrily at me."I can't have anything happening to you. Alpha Raiden will kill me for allowing you patrol and fight rogue wolves and war dogs with us.""Alright, I'm sorry. I'll be more careful next time.""You better be," he scoffed and walked away, going to check on the others.I turned to see the war dog that attacked me decapitated. It's head laid at my feet with it's eyes wide open.I really felt content when this thing wanted to kill me. At least, I was dying in an honorable way in front of battle. Though in my eyes only. To the other wolves, I was dying a revolt for engaging in a fight not meant for women.Everyone was ok and nobody was hurt. All the war dogs were down and taken care off.Suddenly arrows flew out in large numbers from the woods."Take cover!" Caleb yelled and we all took cover, using anything as a shield. I grabbed the war dog I killed and used it as a shield as the arrows flew over our heads continuously."Once they show themselves you shift and you attack. Show them no mercy and be safe," Caleb yelled an order and we all nodded in response.Caleb was a good leader and he always came back with a lot of kills during each patrol and I respected him for that.Soon the arrows stopped flying and then the rogue wolves emerged from the woods. Baring their canines at us."Are you ready Arla," I called my wolf and she stirred."Yes, I'm ready," she replied and then I shifted into my wolf, my bones cracking and readjusting themselves, taking the shape of my wolf and then I handed the reins of control to her.I howled into the sky and the others did the same too as the rogue wolves attacked in full force. There were like eight of them while we were just six.One of the rogue wolves slammed itself into me, pushing me against a tree. I recovered quickly and clawed it face, drawing blood out. It howled in pain, backing away. Not giving it time to recover, I kicked it in the belly with my hinge legs, sending it flying several feets away.It laid sprawled on the ground still alive but badly injured."Let's make it easier for the wolf by ending it's life now," I suggested to Arla and she nodded, accepting the idea. With one swipe of my claws, I beheaded the wolf, detaching it's head from it's body and it shifted back to a naked man.Another wolf attacked me from behind, going for my neck but I felt it coming and side tracked it. I avoided it's attack as it landed roughly on the ground. It recovered quickly and charged at me again, aiming at my throat. I flipped behind it and bit down on its tail. It howled loudly in pain as I swung it away, slamming it against a rock.I heard one of it's bones snap; it seemed like he broke his spine. I approached the wolf as it watched me with fear in it's eyes, unable to attack me due to it's immobile state."This won't take too long," I said to him and then ripped his heart out of his chest. I ended his life for good, and watched him close his eyes in death."Wow, you took on two wolves, impressive," Caleb applauded me and he had a proud smile on his face as he approached me. He had shifted back to human already."Well what can I say. I have the best teacher," I grinned and wagged my tail happily."Sure you do," he rubbed my head and I purred. "Here," he threw some clothes at me and I caught them with my fangs."Get changed and make sure your disguise is in place. We can't allow the others to know you're a female."I nodded and backed away behind a big tree, going to change. I shifted back to human and wore my loose trousers and big shirt.I also wore my mask, hiding my hair behind my mask and went to join the others."Nice job everyone, let's round them up and burn them," Caleb ordered and we set to work, gathering all their bodies. There were six humans and seven war dogs. I thought they were five, no wonder two attacked me at once.We gathered the bodies together and set them ablaze watching them burn. It was our custom to always burn the enemy's dead bodies. It was believed that when we did that, it made their spirits leave completely. After patrolling around to be sure that there was no more pending danger, we left going back to our homes.I left for my house after bading Caleb goodbye. I didn't know if I was going to see him again before I headed to the palace and be married off to the Prince.I sneaked into my room through the window. I didn't want to pass through the front door because I was smeared with blood."Where are you coming from Imelda," I heard Scarlet's shrill voice making me land on the floor startled."You scared me," I glared at her trying to stabilize my breathing."I asked you a question young lady," she glared back at me and I rolled my eyes. "I went for a hunt." I stood up from the ground, undressing. I dumped my clothes in my laundry basket and wrapped myself in a towel."Hunting are for males Imelda your work is to…..""Stay at home, learn to be an obedient mate, bear pups and take care of them blah blah blah…" I interrupted, rolling my eyes."Give me a break mom," I walked into the bathroom leaving her in the room."What would I do with you," I heard her sigh and I scoffed, pretending not to hear her."Get prepared, we leave for the palace tomorrow," she said and I ignored her, soaking myself in my bathtub.I heard I shut the door behind her and I smiled in relief, knowing that she was gone."This is really happening Arla," I whispered."Yea, I know. We'll be fine I promise," she assured me and I sighed languidly.I groaned, uncomfortable with the dress. I kept twisting my body trying to loosen my clothes or better still tear it."Seat still Imelda, you'll rip the clothes apart," Mom glared at me as we journeyed to the palace on horseback."This cloth is too tight and this horse makes my back ache. Why can't we just shift to our wolves and run to the palace," I complained."We have to look presentable before the royal family Imelda. You're getting married to the crowned Prince and will soon become the crowned Princess. You should start getting used to riding on horsebacks and wearing such tight clothes," Dad explained and I gritted my teeth in anger, glaring at the horse who shrieked in protest and almost threw me off its back.I haven't even married the Prince but my life is already being dictated to me. When I eventually marry the Prince I won't be allowed to talk any longer."You'll get used to it sweetheart," mom smiled at me encouragingly and I scoffed."That we'll never happen.""I alread
I sat down outside in front of the royal house lost in thoughts, still trying to wrap my head around the fact that my father abandoned me without blinking an eye. Even as he left and I laid sprawled on the ground hoping he'd look back and see how miserable I was because he was leaving but he didn't even glance back for once. It actually made me feel like he truly wanted to get rid of me."Maybe he did," Arla stated and I huffed still not wanting to come in terms with that even when the truth was staring right back at me in the face. "You know I'd appreciate it if you don't scream the truth out in my face. I'm miserable as it is already and the last thing I need at the moment is more painful truths.""Well the more you come in terms with the painful truth the more easier it would be for you to edge forward."I rolled my eyes, scoffing. "You're one to give advice. Why didn't you apply this when Damien rejected us?""You don't have to bring up the assholes name again!" "I was having fu
"How can you guys be so identical," I gawked at them, my mouth widely opened in awe and they both giggled, looking amused.Sitting right in front of me were two girls that looked totally identical. I kept glancing from one girl to the other trying to see or at least pinpoint one difference between them but it seemed impossible. This was not the first time that I was seeing twins but this was definitely the first time that I was definitely seeing twins this identical and hard to tear apart facially. They were both dressed in royal attires. Their clothes also identical and it made me frown. Their seamstress should be hanged for making their dresses identical as well. Having twins this identical, their dresses ought to be used as a means to tear then apart but no, they just had to sew the same dresses for them and confuse everyone further. Just how dumb could people be?"We are dressed in identical dresses because we love looking the same," one of the girls spoke up as though reading my
"Do not let your hands or legs come down, keep them straight up in the air," the girls barked at the maids whose heads were on the ground and their bodies lifted up in the air. After barging into the Princesses room without knocking, this was what they got they got in return. The girls were cruel and heartless, some of the maids were already crying but none of them dared to drop their legs. I wonder how they were able to hold that position without collapsing.Who the hell came up with this kind of punishment in the first place?I felt like walking out of the hidden door and asking the girls to free the maid but I couldn't risk being seen by the maids. They might rat me out to the head maid.I felt pity for them but there was literally nothing I could do to help them at the moment. I was a fugitive in my new home. The most cruel thing these girls were doing was eating the barbeque fish I had suffered to steal from the kitchen and I could tell that they had no intention of leaving any b
"You have a strange name," Naya pointed out and I laughed. She was definitely not the first to tell me that. Several people mentioned it to me already and I've gotten used to hearing that from people."But the name is cool and it has a badass vibe to it," Maya said, all smiles."Well, looking at it from that angle, you're right," Naya stroked her chin, nodding her head in agreement to what Maya said.We were all sitting on the bed, in a circular pattern and the twins kept pairing at me curiously as though they were both trying to figure me out."Alright if you guys don't stop staring at me, I'm going to pluck your eyes out," I threatened, no longer finding their staring cool and with their eyes on me for long, it made my skin feel funny. There was this tingling sensation as though their eyes were crawling on my body. It felt creepy."You won't do that," Maya gasped, bug eyed, holding her chest dramatically and I smirked."Try me." She gulped loudly, seeing how serious I was with the i
"Sweet Goddess," Naya exclaimed, breathing heavily."I think we are safe here for now," Maya shut the door close while I simply collapsed on the floor. I had no strength to move anymore. I literally drained whatever energy I had left to run into this hideout."Why do you think she was searching for us?" Maya asked, collapsing beside me."I don't know," Naya frowned, looking clueless but few seconds later she her eyes widened in horror as though she remembered something."What is it? Did you figure out yet?" Maya leaned towards her, peering at her curiously, hoping to get something.Naya faced her still looking horrified. "Do you think she found out that we trashed her garden and replaced her beautiful daises with thorns we thought were flowers?"Maya gasped, also looking horrified. "Do you think that's it?""That's why she is looking for us?""That's the only thing I could think of that would make her seek us out," Naya replied, biting her fingers."If she finds out that we trashed he
Stop looking at me!" I yelled, hiding behind a curtain. He just stared at me boredly not bulging or even blinking an eye.My face turned totally red in embarrassment and I just felt like the ground should open up and swallow me. Why the hell did I have to end up in Derek's room of all rooms?Derek relaxed on his chair watching me in amusement as I hid from him. I peeped from the curtain and saw him still staring."I said stop looking," I shrieked, still embarrassed."Why should I stop looking?" He asked and my eyes widened in horror. What? Why didn't anyone tell me the Prince was a pervert?I peeped from the curtain again, meeting his eyes as I hid my naked body with the curtain."Because courtesy demands that since an unmarked and naked woman is in your room unintentionally, you should give her space and look away," I explained, smiling awkwardly. He rolled his eyes, taking a sip from the coffee on the table beside him before returning it back to the table."First of all, you're in my
"How dare you barge into my room without knocking?" Derek yelled, at the intruder, startling me. I buried my face in his neck embarrassed.Could today just get any better?"I'm sorry Derek," the girl who barged in apologized, looking frightened. I wouldn't blame her, I would also be frightened if I were in her shoes."I just got to the palace and decided to see you first since it's been a while we saw each other last. I didn't know you would be busy," I could feel her glaring at me heatedly but I didn't have the nerve to look at her. If only Derek had agreed to give me one of his shirt peacefully, I wouldn't have to be in this situation."That doesn't give you the right not to knock without coming in," he spat out, disgusted."I'm sorry," she apologized again."Get out and knock again. Keeping knocking until I tell you to come in," he ordered and she immediately left the room, shutting the door behind her and began knocking. I felt pity for her but this was what you get when you get ov
