Marlani’s Pov

It felt surreal but at the same time, my entire instincts screamed at me that something was wrong. Everything was a blur, I was out in the dark, the night breeze blew in my face. It was a cold night, I could hear the frogs croaking in the distance, the owls hooting, as all the creatures of the night had come together.

I stood still on a spot, my legs refusing to move nor did any part of my body as I stared straight ahead. I spotted Eggust walking in front of me now and I tried to open my mouth so I could scream to help me but it didn't work.

My mouth was sealed shut, my breath rasped.

I began to panic because I didn't know what was happening except that deep down, I wanted my son in my arms. I knew that there was no place safer for him but the moment I tried to scream out for his name again, I watched him take another step and fell into a hole that suddenly appeared right in front of him.
