Chapter Forty Eight

NORA POV

The trees fly past in a brown and grey blur, Charity and Matt sitting in awkward silence in the front seat. The SUV barreling towards the gate of New Moon. My thoughts reeling from the events of the day but my nagging intuition telling me that this is the end. They always say bad things come in threes.

I cannot seem to shake it, my palms sweating and heart racing, Viola on high alert as well. Her hair stuck on end as she prowls like a lion trapped in a cage. My suspicions confirmed when Matt stops at the gate, talking to one guards briefly, then throwing the car into reverse and returning to the packhouse.

“Sorry, Nora,” Charity says, twisting around her seat. “Elle needs you back at the packhouse.”
