"How disgusting!”

Evonne looked at Joan dead in the eyes and said, "You think you can talk about Sal like that just because you’re rich?"

Sally looked down as she took out her books and notes from her school bag. "I mean, money is king."

Since Grandma Summers fell sick, Sally had longed to become rich.

Although she was now the wife of a rich man, nothing about it felt real to her.

"Don’t say that."

Evonne frowned and said, "You need to stand up for yourself. Get Elijah here and give Joan a tight slap on the face. Make her kneel and apologize to you!"

Sally shook her head and said, "Forget about it."

"Why?"

"If they have their mind set on making fun of me, they’ll always find a way to do so. Even if I can prove that Elijah is not an old, ugly, fat, and bald person, they will still make fun of him for being disabled."

Sally took a deep breath, put on her earphones, and replied, "Just ignore them."

She married Elijah so that she could take care of him, not the other way around.
