Chapter: Two

Jess woke up cold and in pain. She found herself laying on a bed she would imagine would be used in jails. The mattress was worn out and filled with stains and the metal bed frame wiring looked like it was about to snap. If jess was not in so much pain, she would be too afraid to move, but due to her pain, movement was not even an option. Jess just kept laying still and only turned her head to look around the room she was in, it was the only thing that her body would allow to move. Jess soon realized that the room was not a room, but more like a cell. The bars on the one side of the room, just confirmed that jess was not in a safe place. The room was lit with one dim white light and only had one other thing in it – a bucket – that in no way looked sanitary. Jess eyes widen when she recalled the last thing that happened to her before darkness had consumed her. She looked down and saw that the piece of branch was removed from her hip. Without the adrenaline pumping through her she could truly feel the extent of her injuries, she hurt all over.

Jess laid still for a while, but she couldn’t take it anymore, she had to get some answers on how she ended up in a prison cell. With tremendous effort Jess pushed herself up in a sitting position. By the time she was up right she was out of breath and hissing in pain, with her legs shaking and barely keeping her standing. Jess tried to take a step but crumbled into herself. Falling and hitting her bad hip. Jess cried out and curled her fingers on the cement floor.

“You were in no shape to move, miss. You should have laid still.” An unfamiliar male voice said. Jess’s eyes were still shut tight due to the pain. The man pushed her so that she would lay on her back. He pulled up her shirt and looked at her hip.

“She tore her stitches; we need to go to my office.” The unfamiliar voice spoke again.

“No, we have waited long enough to speak to it. Let’s take it to the interrogation room.” A deeper unfamiliar voice spoke for the first time.

“Alpha Joshua, humans are a lot more delicate than werewolves they need more time to heal.” The first unfamiliar voice spoke. He was about to continue his point but was interrupted.

“No, I agree with Joshua. We take it to the interrogation room.” An even deeper unfamiliar voice spoke. Before Jess could even process what was being said, she was lifted off the ground and swung over a man’s firm shoulder. Jess cried out again as her bad hip made contact with what felt like, a metal shoulder. Jess saw black spot start to surround her vision. Every second that passed felt like more and more glass was being rubbed into her wound. Her entire body was on fire. Jess had no idea what was happing around her, but she needed it to stop.

“Please… st…op..” Jess barely whispered, but it did what it needed to. She was swung over the person’s shoulder and moved into the persons arms, which was the only thing that kept Jess upright. Her one hand was laying lazily over the persons one shoulder and the other hand drooped over the person’s arm. Her vision was fully black now and that’s when she passed out again.

“You got to be fucking kidding me!?” Xavier shouted as the girl fell against his chest.

“Wow, its true what people say, humans are useless.” Joshua made a snarky comment and decided to leave, seeing that no work was going to be done today and not wanting to be in the human’s presence longer then needed.

“I’ve linked Doctor Seth already; he is on his way.” Raymond said as he leaned against the wall in the middle of the hall.

Xavier moved the girl to the ground. She looked terrible. She had brown leather hiking boots on with socks that once were grey but turned brown. She had a loose short jean on that was covered in blood, mud, and twigs. Her grey strap t-shirt was torn at the edges, where the branch went through and completely covered with old blood and now new blood, but it did not look so bad because of the blue purple long sleeved flannel she wore, that covered up some of the mess. Her body was pale white and small but build nicely. It was the first time Xavier had really looked at the girl. For a human she was not the worst looking but he would never say that out loud.

“This thing is really starting to piss me off.” Xavier said with annoyance as clear as day in his voice.

“When are you not pissed off, Xavier?” Matthew laughs as he joked with his brother. Matthew gives his brother a pat on the shoulder and gives him his award-winning smile.

“Go ahead and get cleaned up, your shirt has blood on it. It’s clear she will be of no use to us for today. You can also hear if all the arrangements for the elder’s arrival tomorrow is set.” Matthew said to Xavier. Xavier sighed and gave a long look at the girl before nodding his head and leaving. Doctor Seth was in sight now and moved to the girl on the floor. He lifted her shirt and gave a deep sigh as he saw the wound had filly reopened.

“The wound has barely healed and now with the movement it is as if no time has passed.” Doc said and looked up at the alphas.

“Please, we need to move her to my office.” Raymond gave the Doc a nod and pushed off the wall.

“Matthew, are you find to deal with this? I need to go and talk to Mike.” Raymond asked Matthew.

“Of course, brother. Have I ever let you down?” Matthew joked. Raymond gave one last looked at the girl and left. Even though his face did not give anything away his tense shoulders said everything.

“Xavier is right, it is going to fuck things up.” Raymond said, and with that he left. Matthew looked at his retreating brother, before making his way to the girl. He picks her up bridal style and follows doc. He hoists the girl so that her head fell in between his shoulder and neck, he then moved his lips to her ear.

“I also think you are going to screw things up … but I don’t think that is a bad thing.” Matthew softly whispers to her so that only she can hear him.
