Chapter Three: First Day At Work

The Next Day, 7:59am.

The sun emitting from the window, hitting Sylvia's face made her open her eyes.

"It's morning" she thought sitting up on the bed, her eyes moved to the wall clock.

"There is still time" she thought then she remembered that she was starting her new job as a nanny today. She stood up and took off her clothes heading to the bathroom, she took a warm bath and when she was done m she walked out and went to her closet.

Her eyes racked through the clothes as she sighed thinking of what to wear when she finally settled for a blue free knee length gown and white canvas. She wore them and applied lip gloss on her lips then sprayed perfume on her body, she checked the mirror, satisfied with her look she took her phone and walked out of her room heading downstairs.

"Good morning mum" She greeted her mum who was knitting something.

"Morning honey, how was your night?" Mrs Jones asked.

"It was fine mum and yours?" she replied.

"It was okay"

"Okay, what are you knitting?" she asked."Something for you" Mrs Jones replied.

"Okay, I will go make breakfast now" Sylvia said and went into the kitchen.

Thinking of what to cook, she decided to make her mum's favourite, fried pasta and chicken sauce so she start to work.

When she was done cooking she took the food to the dining table and started arranging the food on it.

"Mum breakfast is ready" she called when she was done arranging the food on table.

"Okay am coming" Mrs Jones replied from the sitting room and dropped what she was knitting, she went to the dining.

"Wow my favourite food!" she exclaimed when she saw the food.

"Yes mum I made your favourite food, I thought that since I would be leaving today, I should cook something special for you" Sylvia smiled.

"Awwwn thanks, I love you" Mrs Jones pouted childishly and sat down on one of the chairs, she took her spoon and ate from the food while Sylvia stood waiting for her to say something about the food.

"Wow! This is nice" Mrs Jones complemented.

"Thanks mum" Sylvia said and took her sit then started eating.

"Wow how did you know how to cook like this? You are even better than me now" Mrs Jones pouted.

"I learnt from the best which is my mum" Sylvia smiled.

"Awwwn really, I must say you cook better than me now " Mrs Jones said and she chuckled, they continued eating and when they were done Sylvia packed all the plates and took it to the kitchen for washing. After she had washed them finish she walked out of the kitchen then she heard a knock on the door so she went to open it, she met a man outside.

"Good morning sir" she greeted the man.

"Good morning mam, am here to pick Miss Sylvia up" he replied.

"That's me, are you from Mr Damien?" she asked.

 "Yes I am" he replied.

"Okay give me some minutes, I will be back" she told him.

"Take your time" he smiled and she nodded then went back in.

"Who was that? " Mrs Jones asked.

"The driver to pick me up, I'm coming let me go get my bags" she said and went upstairs to her room. She came back downstairs with her bags in her hand.

 "Mum am going" she said.

"Wait let me see you off" Mrs Jones said, stood up from the sofa and went outside with Sylvia.

"Let me take this " the driver said and collected the bags, he put it into the car trunk.

"Thanks" Sylvia smiled at him and he nodded.

"Here, have this" Mrs Jones said and stretched out a knitted bracelet toward her.

"Wow mum this is beautiful!" she exclaimed and collected it from her, she loved the bracelet cause it was knitted with her best colour, blue and white and there was also beads in it making it look more beautiful.

"You like it? " Mrs Jones asked.

"Of course I love it" Sylvia replied and looked at the bracelet, admiring it.

 "Thanks mum" she said again.

"You are welcome honey and I wish you well in that house" Mrs Jones smiled and pulled her into a hug.

"I will miss you" Mrs Jones cried.

"I will miss you more" Sylvia said and they kept hugging for sometime before Sylvia released herself from the hug.

"Stop crying mum, I will be fine" Sylvia said and wiped her mum's tears with her hands, she understood why her mum was crying cause this was the first time she would be leaving her ever since her father died four years ago, and she would be really lonely not like when she went to college, her father was still alive to stay with her.

"Okay I will stop" Mrs Jones nodded.

"I need to go now and I promise to always be in touch with you, I love you mum " she smiled and pecked her mum's cheek.

"I love you too honey, go now" Mrs Jones patted her back and she nodded then walked to the car, the driver opened the door for her and she got in.

"Thanks" she thanked the driver and he nodded then went to the driver's seat, he ignited the car engine and started driving with Sylvia waving her hands at her mum till she was out of sight, sighing she closed her eyes and rested back on the chair.

An hour and some minutes later, they got to the mansion and Sylvia stepped out of the car and got her bags from the car trunk.

"Let's go" the driver said and started walking inside with Sylvia trailing behind him.

"Wait here let me go and call the boss" the driver said when they got inside.

"Okay sir" she muttered.

"Don't call me sir, call me Greg" the driver now known as Greg said and she nodded, he went upstairs and seconds later he came back with Damien.

"Good morning sir" she greeted Damien.

"Good morning" he replied and told Greg to leave.

"It's good that you are here, let me show you to your room" Edward said and started walking upstairs and Sylvia followed him. They walked through the hallway till Damien stopped in front of a door, he opened it and walked inside and she followed.

"Wow! " she exclaimed looking around the room.

"This is your room" he said and she nodded still looking around the room, she was mesmerized by what she saw, the room was big, times two of her room at home and the bed, it was so big.

"I would leave you now" he said.

"Okay sir, thank you sir" she thanked him and he nodded then walked out of the room, she didn't really know why she was thanking him but she felt like the room was great and she needs to thank him.

She jumped on the bed and gasped feeling the softness against her skin, she almost fell asleep but was quick to regain herself so she stood up and walked to the closet she opened it and took her bag then started arranging her clothes in it.

When she was done she checked the time and when she saw it was already 12, she decided to go downstairs and see what she can do. She opened the door and walked out of the room heading downstairs.

When she got downstairs she met him sitting on the sofa operating his laptop and Damien noticing a presence looked back and he saw her.

"Do you need anything" he furrowed his eyebrows.

"Errr..I wanted to ask if you could show me to the kids room because I would need to go to their rooms in future" She explained.

"Okay" he muttered and stopped what he was doing on his laptop and dropped it.

"Let's go" he said and started leading the way.

He showed her to Kathy, Flora and Freddie's room and some other places in the mansion so they were back in the living room now.

"Thanks for the tour sir, I would like to make lunch now since the kids will soon be back so what you will like for lunch?" she scratched her hair nervously.

"Anything" Edward muttered and went back to his laptop and she nodded, she entered the kitchen. Standing, she thought of what to cook and she decided to make pancakes so she got all the ingredients and started preparing it.
