Signing the very last document the attorney smiled at me and slid over a bank book.

“Your account balance and account number are all inside, princess,” he said firmly and I thumbed through the small book. My eyes grew large when they landed on the balance.

“Mom, come see this,” I huffed in disbelief.

Showing her the amount I shook my head remembering how we had struggled to survive after his fake death.

She frowned, rubbed my shoulder, and sighed.

“He was a frugal man and hid his actual wealth,” she said softly.
