I stop the engine and step out of my car. My hands are shaking as I place the keys in my pocket. Taking a deep breath, I traipse across the parking lot towards the reception of the police station.
“Where’s Mr. Ellis?!” I ask, my heart pounding.
The woman on the desk raises her eyes at me. Still, she answers, “He’s in his office. Don’t come in now. They are pretty busy.”
“When can I come in then?” I ask politely this time.
“Maybe in two hours.”
“But it’s just 6.30 pm.”
“Then come back at 8.30 pm. This is a police station. There are times when this place gets too busy.”
I grunt, and yet, I move away from the desk. “Fine, I will return at 8.30 pm. Should I wait there?”
“Yes. I will inform him that someone is waiting for him. So, may I ask your name?”
“Miss Cassie Curtis.”
“Oh, you are that prodigy teacher!”
I stop myself from rolling my eyes. I don’t like being called like that, so I say, “I am not. I am just an average teacher.”
“I heard about you from my daughter. She’s happy that you will coach her next month for a science quiz.”
“You are Alinn Avery’s mom? It’s just a temporary schedule. The coach is pregnant, so I am coming in as the replacement.”
“Oh, but my daughter adores you!”
“I’m not that great, Mrs. Ave—”
“Now, let’s see… Because you are my daughter’s favorite teacher…” She leans towards me and adds, “You can enter the room. For five minutes, I won’t let anyone go there except for Mr. Ellis. How’s that sound?”
I grin at her and reach for her hands. “Five minutes is great. That will help me a lot.”
“Now, go,” she gestures.
I give her another smile before walking into the room. No one is inside, but I see Mr. Ellis’ nameplate on the top of the table.
Suddenly, the door opens, and an angry-looking man comes into the room. I stop breathing. I did not expect Hilda’s husband to be very attractive. I am expecting someone average in everything. Yet, the man in front of me is over six feet tall, has brown skin, red lips, and bushy eyebrows. He also looks muscular in his casual clothes. Is that why he looks angry? He hasn’t even changed into his uniform, and he is already this busy?
“You!” he snaps at me. “What now?! I said—”
“Your wife is cheating on you,” I cut him off. I shake my head and focus on the reason I am here. Yes, he’s very handsome, but I have seen a lot of handsome men in my life. He will not rattle me.
“Pardon?” he asks. He walks closer to me and he smells… really nice. Why the hell is Hilda cheating on such a hot specimen?
Before he approaches me, I open my phone and flash it to him. It is a picture of his wife and my ex-boyfriend having sex. “That’s my boyfriend. He’s my ex now. And I have just taken the picture earlier in the home EC room.”
He’s speechless. Understandable. I move closer to him and say, “Now that you know, let’s have sex as well.”
“What?!”
“I am saying that I want to take revenge against my cheating boyfriend. And I want your wife to feel the same pain I have now.”
“Ah, I think—”
I move closer to him and press my lips on him. He’s taller than I am, so I need to tiptoe to reach him. He didn’t move and didn’t respond as well. I pull back from him.
“I’ve told you already! Your wife is cheating on you! Why are you not getting angry?!”
“As angry as you are with your boyfriend?”
“Ex,” I correct. “But yes!”
“And so, you want to have sex with the husband of the cheating wife?”
“Exactly, Mr. Ellis!” And then, I realize that I might not be up to par with his ideal. Hilda is beautiful, even if I don’t want to admit it. “You don’t think I am good enough? Not pretty enough for you?”
“What will you do if I don’t agree?”
“I don’t know, probably drink the night away and get a man or two.”
He laughs. “Get a man or two, huh? Together?”
I scowl at him. “We are just going to fuck. No attachments. Be thankful I can kiss you. I don’t normally kiss strangers,” I admit.
“Now, I am curious how that will go.”
The door opens and Mrs. Avery comes in. “Ahm, Teacher Cassie…” She shifts her attention to me and then to Mr. Ellis.
Then, an idea comes to mind. If I drag him now, even if he rejects my proposal to have sex, people will talk. His reputation will be tarnished. He will be the talk of the town, and so is Hilda! It’s the same damage to my reputation, but I don’t care, I can just find another job. I have a safety net.
And so I take Mr. Ellis’ hand and drag him out of the room. “We’re leaving!” I inform Mrs. Avery.
I drag him across the police station. He is struggling at first, and then he starts… NOT to struggle.
“Where do you plan to have sex?” he asks.
“Anywhere!”
“My car is parked here. We can do it there, so I can return to the station soon.”
I glare at him. “I am a teacher, too. So, I want to do it in a private room.”
“Ah! To save some kind of reputation?”
“Exactly!”
“Should I drive then? And use my car?”
I narrow my eyes at him. “No, I will drive.” I look around and then my eyes catch a hotel. “On the other hand, there’s a simple inn. Let’s do it there. We can walk.”
I try to drag him again. But this time, he walks beside me. “You seem very open to cheating on your wife now,” I comment.
He just shrugs his shoulders. “If a pretty woman is asking me to have sex with her with no payment, why would I say no to that?”
I snort. “Aren’t you as bad as your wife?”
“Probably,” he says as we walk towards the hotel’s reception area. “Besides, if I am decent. I should not be here with you. I should have been at the police station taking care of my work.”
“Well, I should be at a local restaurant eating dinner with my boyfriend! Ex-boyfriend,” I correct myself. “And yet, your wife decided to destroy that and choose to fuck him instead! And guess what, she even chooses this day! It’s my birthday! It’s even our monthsary!”
“Ha! Touche, ain’t it?”
I ignore his taunt. However, when I am facing the hotel receptionist, I vent to her. “One night!” Then, I slap cash on the table.
The young woman shifts her attention to me and Mr. Ellis. “Okay, ma’am, sir. Room 26 is available.”
I grab the old-fashioned room key and make my way to the stairs. This place is just a four-story building. What the heck am I doing in the province, teaching at a local school, when I had a high-paying job in the city?!
I pause and laugh at myself. Right, I was ghosted. I was out for a month on a business trip and when I came back, my almost-boyfriend told me that something had already happened between him and another colleague. He wants to be responsible. I smirk. Good for them and the family they are building!
“F*ucking congratulations to your baby!” I scream at the air.
“Are you okay?” Mr. Ellis asks.
I push open the hotel door and snap, “Do I look fine to you?!”
I shift my eyes to him. He seems to be hesitating. Seeing him up close. That bitch Hilda is lucky. Tonight, I will be the one lucky. And so, I pull him into the room and push him against the door.
“I said it’s hard to kiss strangers, but you look clean and you smell clean…”
He chuckles. “So, I am not disgusting?”
“You are not. So, kiss me, Mr. Ellis,” I order. And then, as I command, he presses his lips against mine and I close my eyes to savor his taste.
Suddenly, his kisses become more insistent. Every time I try to catch my breath, he pulls me to him and kisses me again. It is disconcerting. I have never been kissed like this before. Did he… Maybe he and Hilda are no longer having sex? Maybe she’s always with my asshole ex-boyfriend and when she’s home, she’s already too tired to take care of his desires? Well then, Mrs. Hilda. You don’t have to worry because I will take good care of your husband. And so I snake my fingers on the back of his neck and pull him closer to me. I press my chest against him and he groans at the gesture. Suddenly, he lifts me, and I squeal. I wrap my legs around his waist and kiss him again. He’s a great kisser. No chaste kisses from him. I feel like I am being devoured and I like to do the same with him. So, I did. Before long, I learn to play with his tongue. I learn how to allow him to scour my mouth. More importantly, I understand what it means to ‘deepen’ a kiss. When I am dropped on the bed, I rea
It has become common knowledge that the charming Mr. Mark and me are no longer together. However, there are no rumors of the reason. No reputation damage on Hilda as well. All I know is that Mark is reaching out to me to fix our relationship. I said that we were off the instant I caught him cheating. All he said was that Hilda was already his secret lover even before I came into his life. It’s supposed to be their last sex, their last goodbye, because… according to him, he plans to live his life with me. The idiot! Who would f*ucking believe him?! I snort. I may, or may not, destroy Hilda, or my ex-boyfriend. I am still thinking about it, especially after that recent misstep at the police station and the hotel afterward. Who, in their right mind, would think that a man wearing really expensive casual clothes is a police officer? He also smells of fancy perfumes! Something that a provincial salary will not be able to cover! I groan. That’s exactly because I am not in the right mind!
I massage my temple and Alinn, the sweet teenage girl, asks, “Are you okay, Miss Cassie? Should we take a break? Maybe you can just leave me references that I can study. There’s no need for you to sit with me.” I smile at her. “Well, I’m sure you’ve heard about me and Teacher Mark, but you should focus on the review and stop worrying about your heartbroken teacher.” She makes a small smile. She has misaligned teeth, but her eyes are bright and huge. Her face is circular and small. She is an adorable young woman, not to mention a very smart girl. I sigh as I remember that misstep at the police station. It’s been a month since then. I didn’t dare to call that Liam Chapman again. My plan failed to make that bitch-Hilda feel what she’s done to me—if only her husband is half as good-looking as Liam, then maybe– I shake my head in annoyance. My plan failed completely, and a total stranger has fucked me. F*ucked, even I definitely enjoyed it. I have already burned the calling card, but I
Monday morning starts normally except for a new student who enrolls in the school. It’s not as chaotic as I expected, though. In fact, the little boy is able to immerse himself in the crowd. I think one reason for his quick adjustability is that he is already wearing the school uniform. Some female students can’t help but point at him, though. It’s also understandable. The little boy is a looker. Straight black hair, fair skin, tall and cute. He is also carrying himself well, as if he knows people would like to befriend him. It won’t be long until they label him as the Campus Crush. The boy’s name is Lukas Reeves, a transferee from the city, and the cause of the excitement of the female students. In fact, when I was having my lunch with my co-teachers and I told them that I would like to take a break from all the blind dates they were setting me up for, they agreed without a fuss. Then their conversation shifted to the new transferee. It was only until Friday afternoon that I discove
“Be thankful that the father did not sanction you,” the principal says. “I apologize, Principal Abra. I won’t do it again,” I respond. Next time, I won’t lose control of my emotions. I need a better hold on it. I lay my head low so this would get sorted out soon. “Will I be able to apologize to the parents?” I ask. “There is no need. However, the other teachers and students want you to apologize to the son.” I raise my head at him. “I know,” he says before I can even speak. “I will apologize to the parents, but I don’t think I should apologize to the son. It will appear as if what he did is NOT wrong. It won’t be good for him. Besides, that kid already has an attitude. We can’t contribute to that. Instead, we need to—” The principal raises his arms to stop me. “I understand, Teacher Cassie. Back in my day, his actions are already ground for expulsion. That show of utmost disrespect to a teacher should not be something a teacher should apologize for. However, sometimes, we just ne
I enter the classroom and tell the students that we are going to study something special today. It will be a special class about science in literature. But my students are all too busy chatting with their friends. I try to take their attention but they refuse to acknowledge my presence. This is the first time this happened. “Hmmm,” I mutter as I observe the students. This is definitely orchestrated. Then my eyes catch Lukas. There is an amused expression on his face. I smirk. So this is his revenge, huh? This little monster student of mine. I slam the table, and my students have no choice but to transfer their attention to me. “Do you have anything you’d like to say to me?” I ask them. A look of fake shock appears on their faces. Then there is silence in the room. The students who had been talking before looked away from me. Some of them are looking down. They are probably ashamed to be caught up in this... What shall I call this? Lukas’ stupidity? “Anyone who’d like to speak up?
We arrive at Lukas’ house. It’s brand new. It has two levels and an attic. Some part of the walls are made of thick glass. The house is made of a strange metal that looks almost like mercury. “Have you cleaned lately?” I ask. “Of course not! Why would I clean?” “Ahm, because this is your house,” I say. Lukas pushes open the door. It’s metallic and is not making any sound. It’s different from the house I rented where the door handle is old and worn. “Maids come in every Friday and clean up before my father arrives for the weekend,” he informs. “You mean I won’t be able to talk to your father today?” “Why would you even want to talk to him?” “Because of your most recent offenses,” I say. “I also need to discuss with him about your education.” “Then you will need to ask for a schedule to meet with him. He’s a busy man,” he says. “Your family is in business, right?” “Why do you care?” he asks. He places his arms across his chest and stares me down. “Are you not going to leave,
Lukas is coming in from his other classes more consistently. He sits on the table beside the one that Alinn occupies. He is quieter, but from time to time, I catch him glancing at Alinn. He also learned the meaning of focus. And as a result, his quizzes are improving. As a teacher, I like these changes. “Teacher Cassie, my mother is outside. I will leave now,” Alinn informs. Lukas stands up at the same time that Alinn did. “I will come with—” “Don’t bother,” Alinn snaps. She is still furious at him for forcibly kissing her. Lukas watches her leave. His expression is a mixture of longing, confusion, and guilt. “I thought you said that nerds are uncool?” I ask, without taking my eyes off Alinn’s paper. “She’s not!” he complains. “You think she’s your adorable puppy, right?” “She is.” “Guess what? This sense of belongingness? That’s something she won’t like. First, you don’t own her. Second, you guys are too different. Not to mention that she currently hates you.” “You are the t
