Chapter 8

Isobel

I entered the small restaurant and asked about the job. No one was there, and there were no customers eating. It was early in the morning, and even though the place looked a bit old, it was quite nice inside. It was comfortable for eating or studying. It wasn't fancy like other shops near the university, but it was good enough for someone to eat and spend time with friends.

I walked up to the counter and looked at the menu. The prices were reasonable, and the food they offered seemed suitable for students.

"Hello? Anybody here?" I called out. It had been a few minutes since I entered to ask about the job. Then, a woman who looked around middle-aged came up. I noticed her face light up when she saw me.

"Yes? What would you like to order?" she asked.

I smiled awkwardly. "I'm sorry, ma'am, but I'm actually here to ask about the job. I saw the notice outside your door."

The woman sighed. "I thought I finally had a customer." She then scanned me from head to toe and continued
