Chapter 8

Amy was left alone in the hall, and she did not know whether to leave or stay. However, she immediately recognized the man with gold-rimmed glasses. He was one of the passengers from the car accident.

As for the other man with the distinguished aura, she had detected the smell of blood from him. This along with the current situation suggested that Aiden had been the one inside the car.

She knew at a glance that he was no ordinary person. Logically speaking, it was best that she left quickly. Yet, moved by a healer’s instinct to save lives, Amy could not just walk away.

As she hesitated to go in, Nolan cried out in alarm, “Mr. Lewis!” So, without further thought, she stepped into the lounge.

Upon entering, she was greeted with the strong scent of herbal medicine. An elegant and handsome man was lying on the bed unconscious. Based on his flushed cheeks, it was evident that he had an unnaturally high fever. Amy could tell that he had been feverish for quite some time.

Nolan and Linda were visibly anxious.

Aiden had been staying in the pharmacy since the previous night. He seemed fine until Nolan discovered him unresponsive with a weak pulse and burning forehead. In a panic, Nolan rushed out to find Mr. Hamlin.

Despite witnessing such a situation for the first time, Linda managed to stay calm. “Since Mr. Hamlin isn’t here and Mr. Lewis’s condition is critical, should we take him to the hospital first?” she suggested urgently.

“It looks like we don’t have any other choice.”

Just as Nolan was about to call the hospital, he noticed a figure in red approaching the bed. Someone was reaching out toward Aiden.

He instantly stepped forward and grabbed the woman’s wrist. “What are you doing?!” he demanded.

Taken aback by his reaction, Amy calmly met his gaze and replied, “I mean no harm. I just want to examine him; perhaps I can save him.”

Recalling that she was the woman from the hall, Nolan released her hand. However, he continued to eye her warily. “Who are you? I haven’t seen you before!”

“I-I...” Amy was at a loss for words for a moment.

Seeing her stammer, Nolan became more suspicious and scrutinized her. But soon after, he found her familiar. It hit him when he recalled the accident from the day before. “I remember now. Aren’t you the one who stopped your car in the middle of the road yesterday?”

Talk about bringing up the wrong thing at the wrong time! Amy looked away awkwardly. “Yes. That was me.”

Nolan frowned at her. “Why are you here? Are you familiar with medical techniques? Are you new at the pharmacy?”

Linda quickly came over to explain. “No, Nolan. This is Miss Amy Green, our pharmacy’s medicinal herb supplier. She’s a regular here and is well-acquainted with Mr. Hamlin. You can trust her.”

After the introduction, she looked at Amy and cautiously asked, “Miss Green, you said earlier that you could save Mr. Lewis. Is that true? Do you know any medical techniques? I don’t recall you mentioning it before.”
