The Cold CEO

Hearing her high heels clanking against the cold marble floor, everyone quickly stood up from their chairs. Their eyes sparkled as they looked fondly at their CEO who stepped inside the building.

Donning a white suit with her brown wavy locks cascading down her back, Evelyn walked with heavy steps while her stern gaze roved the room. Her employees greeted her politely and she acknowledged them with a curt nod.

“Good morning Ma’am,” Sara, her secretary greeted her and gushed a smile but as usual earned an imperceptible nod. She opened the door for her as Evelyn entered her extravagant and spacious cabin.

Dark brown walls were complemented by golden curtains that were made of pure silk. The ceiling was black. Her mahogany desk was at the center while the couches were placed in one corner with a small glass table in between. A flamboyant chandelier was placed in the mid that was scattering the golden light all over the room.

Evelyn headed to her table and scrapped the swivel chair before sitting on it. Placing her purse, she opened her laptop and turned it on.

Sara who was busy admiring her Boss nearly had a heartbreak when her eyes met with her icy ones. She quickly took out her tab and began reciting her schedule for the day.

“You have a meeting with Mr. Raymonds at 11 and there’s good news Ma’am. The HR of the Wills Corporation called this morning. They have accepted our offer.” She chirped.

The news brought a smile of relief to her lips.

“Great then. So, when is Mr. Wills calling a meeting to order?” Evelyn spoke but her expression hardened when Sara turned unnerved at her question.

“T-They haven’t decided the date yet Ma’am. Mr. Wills had delivered a message through his P.A. that he would like to discuss something before scheduling the meeting.” Sara spoke and quickly averted her gaze. Her grip on her tablet increased as she could feel the raging waves oozing from her Boss.

“What is he asking for?” Evelyn grated and shot a glare at the poor girl.

Sara licked her chapped lips before replying meekly, “He has invited you to the inaugural ceremony of his brand new hotel, The Grand Avenue.”

A pregnant silence fell in the room as soon as she completed. Sara bit her lips and waited for Evelyn to kick her out of the cabin but to her surprise, it never happened.

“What’s the time?”

Her head instantly got whipped up as she looked at Evelyn who was staring at her coldly. Sara thought that maybe she would decline the invitation straightaway but she accepted it. Great.

Her sudden interest boosted new confidence in her. Straightening up her spine, she quickly replied “7 pm”

Evelyn nodded, “Keep my clothes and car ready beforehand.”

Sara bobbed her head and passed her a smile before exiting the room.

Once the door closed, Evelyn exhaled a deep breath and leaned on her chair.

Her assumption turned right. She had judged Ryan well in the first meeting only. The project was important for her but the man whom she was planning to work with was a fucking pervert.

Evelyn after leaving Dylan had turned into one cold-blooded workaholic woman. She kept herself miles away from the relationship but the people with whom she work swooned over her beauty. At just 22 years of age, she had built her mighty empire. It wasn’t new to see her name hitting the headlines of every single newspaper.

Evelyn Clarke was a powerful name in the business world and a popular figure amongst the elites. From attending social charitable events to holding conferences, giving interviews, and dealing with clients, she was flat out like a lizard drinking water.

But as the most beautiful flower is the target of all hungry eyes, Evelyn had been approached by every single person whom she had met with. She maintained her relationship formally but those sleazeballs would continue pestering her.

Evelyn swirled her chair and glanced at the wooden shelf behind her that was bedecked with numerous medals, trophies, and certificates. Her eyes lit up because it was the result of her hard work but as soon as they fell on the row of fresh bouquets dotting the last shelf, her expression turned sour. Receiving bouquets wasn’t new for her but she knew that most of them were from her crazy fanboys.

Her nose scrunched as she glared at the last bouquet that was made up of beautiful blue roses. Pushing her chair back, Evelyn ambled towards it and grabbed the small pink color card that was peeking through the blue blossoms.

She opened it.

“A small gift for my jewel.”

Rage swarmed in her chocolate hues. She crushed the paper between her fingers before throwing it away.

“Ryan Wills.” She spoke with clenched teeth and curled her fingers in a fist.

Evelyn hated that man to her core. She had made it clear to him that she wasn’t interested either in him or in his luxury but the man was still chasing her like a rabid dog.

Ryan was a prominent figure in the business world. Hailing from Australia, he owned multiple chains of hotels, restaurants, clubs, and pubs in many countries. He recently opened his new hotel in Seattle and was planning on expanding his empire in America too but for that, he needed a strong collaboration with the top-notch companies in the country.

Evelyn was over the moon when Wills Corporation approached Maria Estates first with the proposal as she always wanted to work with them. She had a deep respect for Ryan but her opinions took a 360-degree turn once she met him. Their first meeting was still vivid in her mind when Ryan was shamelessly checking her out while she was discussing the details of the future project. That one incident sowed seeds of immense hatred in her heart for him.

But the project was important and Evelyn was well known for her prudence and professionalism. She always kept the grudges at bay when it was related to her company’s reputation.

Closing her eyes, Evelyn took deep breaths to simmer down.

“Let’s get over it. It’s just a simple party.” Convincing herself, she resumed her work but her mind kept drifting off to the terrible evening that she had to spend with that jerk.
