Freya and Diego sat in silence for a few moments in his car, the evening unfolding outside. Freya gazed blankly out the window, deliberately avoiding eye contact with Diego. Unaware, Diego's eyes remained fixed on her, his gaze intense, admiring her as she stared away.

After a brief, wordless pause, Diego sighed softly and cleared his throat, intentionally breaking the silence to grab her attention.

“Freya, how have you been all these while?” He asked, watching her closely to see her expression.

Freya turned to take a glance at him, trying to come up with a suitable response to his question.

“I've been okay”, she replied stiffly.

“How is Noah? He's in a new school, I guess”.

Freya's eyebrows knitted together in a faint frown, surprised by Diego's knowledge of Noah's new school. Though she was curious about his sources, she didn't press the issue, having grown accustomed to his uncanny awareness of her life's details, which had initially unsettled her but now felt almost like a routin

Noah stood frozen in confusion, reluctant to take a step toward his “uncle”.“Noah, go ahead. Say hi to your uncle”, Noah's school teacher said, urging him on with a friendly smile and a slight wave.Adamantly, Noah stood still, not moving an inch, skeptical about talking to the stranger as Freya had previously warned him not to talk to strangers.“It's okay, Miss. I'll take it from here”, The man said politely, his lips curved in a friendly smile.Noah's teacher nodded in response and briskly exited the scene.Majestically, the man walked towards Noah and squatted in front of him in order to maintain close eye contact.“Little man, don't you recognize me? It's me, Diego”, Diego said with a friendly grin, his eyes radiating warmth.Noah's eyes sparkled with recognition, finally pinpointing the man in front of him. He beamed with satisfaction, relieved that the event had unfolded smoothly, without anyone leaving hurt or disappointed. Finally, Freya released Noah from her loving grasp and cradled his face in her palms, crouching to lock eyes with him in a deep, meaningful connection. “Mom, I hope you enjoyed my poem. I wrote it all by myself for you”, Noah said proudly, a cheerful grin spreading across his face. “Yes honey, I did. I loved it. Thank you so much for writing such a wonderful poem about me. I love

She had been walking on eggshells throughout that week, wary of Imelda's wicked schemes. Imelda said nothing about the debt or the deadline of payment throughout that week and that made her feel a little bit relieved as she hadn't made the full amount yet. Although she had managed to generate a tangible amount, which she struggled to get with much difficulty, it still wasn't enough. As she prepared gourmet burgers, lost in thought, Freya reflected on her numerous problems and shook her head in self-loathing, reproaching herself for accepting Imelda's offer in the first place. It was Diego’s chief of security.Immediately, she sat up and snapped out of the sleepy haze. A sudden, terrible feeling clawed at her chest as she quickly answered the call. Diego's chief of security only called when there was bad news about Diego.“Hello?” she breathed, sweeping her disheveled hair backwards.“Ms. Freya,” the man’s voice came through, urgent, tense. “It’s Diego. The air in Freya’s secluded apartment was thick with silence. It was the kind of silence that wasn’t peaceful but restless, filled with thoughts that refused to settle. She sat curled up on the small couch, her fingers gripping a warm mug of tea she hadn’t even touched. Her body ached, remnants of the brutal night in the warehouse still lingering in bruises and sore muscles. But the worst pain wasn’t physical—it was the gnawing fear, the unease that refused to leave her.She had vanished temporarily, making only scarce appearances for days. She didn't let Noah go to school without heavily armed escorts. She and Diego made sure to be armed and guarded wherever they were going. After the chaos in the warehouse, the fear of what Desmond might do next consumed her. She fixed him with a deadly stare, her expression unyielding.“Let me warn you, Freya, just in case you've forgotten. I have your life in my hands at this point. Your life depends on me. So if you think being stubborn is gonna save you, I'll remind you why you had feared me for many years.”Freya stared hard at Desmond for a few seconds, shaking her head in disbelief.
