The neighbor lady said, "I didn't get a clear look at the license plate number, but it was a local one, seemed to have three 8s in it, I don't remember exactly.'"
Judy felt a bit disappointed, she still wanted to check the license plate number.
Susan had been hemming and hawing, unwilling to even say her boyfriend's name, definitely something fishy going on.
"Ma'am, I'm in a hurry to get to work, can't chat now, might miss the subway," Judy glanced at the time, feeling a bit anxious inside.
Her place was quite far from the company, taking forty minutes by subway.
At 7:59 AM, Judy arrived at the company.
She had run all the way from the subway station and quickly took a sip of water to catch her breath.
"Judy, you're panting like that, were you chased by a dog?" Secretary-General Linda teased.
Judy waved her hand, panting, "One more minute, and there goes my perfect attendance reward."
Linda asked, "Where do you live?"
"Suburbs," Judy replied. "It takes forty minutes by subway."
"That's quite far," Linda said, and handed Judy a stack of documents, "Take these to the president's office, and make him a cup of coffee. The president always wants a cup of coffee when he arrives. He should be here in about twenty-five minutes."
Judy secretly admired, "Twenty-five minutes, you can pin that down exactly?"
Linda said, "Wait until you've worked for the president a while, then you'll understand everything."
As a secretary, it's about considering everything for the boss, understanding his schedule and preferences, and being proactive.
Judy gave a thumbs up and then took the documents to the president's office.
Indeed, twenty-five minutes. Not a minute more or less.
Judy made the coffee, and Lewis's footsteps came from behind.
Judy bowed her head and offered the coffee with both hands: "Good morning, President."
Lewis took it and said, "It seems Linda has trained you well. Tidy up the bookshelf; it's a bit messy."
"Yes, President." Judy murmured internally, even being a secretary, she couldn't escape being a jack-of-all-trades.
Lewis didn't sleep well last night. Every time he closed his eyes, the images of that night surfaced, forcing him to take two cold showers to calm down.
Lewis began to work, reviewing documents, remote conference callings; since entering the office, he hadn't stopped.
Judy observed while she tidied up the bookshelf. As the rumors said, Lewis's mood was unpredictable, frowning one moment, relaxed the next. During the conference call, the expression on his face was so stern that Judy felt a chill from meters away.
Initially, Lewis treated Judy as if she were "invisible."
When Judy was walking back and forth, arranging bookshelves, cleaning the desk, and wiping the ornaments with a towel, her movements in front of him, the faint scent of mint coming from her, made him restless.
Suddenly, Lewis called out, "Judy."
"Ah?" Judy looked at him, puzzled, "President, do you have an order?"
"You… write up a proposal for the Southwest project, hand it to me before you leave," Lewis had intended to send Judy out but inexplicably assigned her a task and said, "Write it here, any problem?"
"No problem," Judy replied respectfully.
Saying no problem, Judy was actually a bit nervous inside but had no way back. Her boss had assigned her a task for the first time; she couldn’t say no.
Biting the bullet, Judy had to write a satisfactory proposal.
Judy sat down on the sofa, went through all the data on the Southwest project, and when she was focused, she radiated an indescribable charm that made it difficult to take your eyes off her.
Lewis sat on his chair, his gaze fell on Judy for a while, then he returned to his documents.
Then, Leo knocked on the door and came in to report on work. Seeing Judy there, he was slightly startled.
After reporting on the work, Leo, being talkative, asked, "President, tomorrow is May 20th, do you need to send a gift to Miss Susan?"
"May 20th?" Lewis didn’t catch on immediately.
Leo explained, "May 20th is our local Valentine's Day, girls like to celebrate this festival, exchanging gifts."
Lewis was very clear about this, he hadn't fallen in love with Susan, but since she had been taken to the Royal Manor, and was his woman, he hadn't given her any gift as a token and he should send a gift as compensation.
After pondering for a moment, Lewis's gaze fell back on Judy, "Judy, prepare a gift. You girls know what you like, don't worry about the cost."
Being named by the president, Judy respectfully stood up, "Yes, President."
Buying a gift for the boss's girlfriend, Judy was to be very careful. It was related to her future prospects. Offending the future lady boss would be troublesome.
Judy felt curious about what her Lewis' girlfriend looked like and why Lewis was so indulgent that he even sent her gifts on special days without caring about the cost. After Leo reported his work and left, Lewis also went to the meeting room for a conference, and Judy continued to write her scheme.Just before leaving work, she finally finished writing, took a long breath of relief, checked it again, and was quite satisfied. At that moment, Judy's phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, she quickly answered."John." Judy's voice was cheerful: "Have you come back from your business trip?"On the other end of the phone, a man's gentle voice replied: "Yes, I'm back. You should be getting off work soon, right? I'm downstairs at your company, let's have dinner together.""If nothing unexpected happens, I should be able to leave on time," Judy said: "Some things have happened while you were away. I got promoted, and Susan, she found a boyfriend and moved out..."Judy briefly informed him about t
Judy previously blurted out a lie about having a fiancé, which ironically led to her promotion. Worried about being exposed and possibly fired by Lewis, she continued to fabricate stories. However, after speaking, the atmosphere in the car seemed to grow colder, and Lewis's expression changed. Had she said something wrong? Concerned about the company's preference against newly hired employees getting married or having children, Judy quickly added, “President, don't worry, I have no plans to marry before I'm thirty. I want to focus on my career first, working hard under your guidance to grow and strengthen Caler Group.”At her words about making the company stronger, Lewis's lips twitched slightly, and he glanced at her, “So, Caler Group isn’t strong enough now?”Judy nervously laughed, “President, Caler Group is already a top-tier conglomerate. With you at the helm, the company’s future is boundless.”Internally, Judy was frustrated by Lewis's sarcastic tone. Seeing her flattering dem
Judy was really honest, she didn't lie about what she had just said. She had in fact slept with Lewis last time. Lewis had never thought that his little secretary would be so bold, she really dared to say anything. He suddenly wanted to see what Judy would be like when she was drunk. "Drink." Lewis placed the wine in front of her, "If anything happens, I will take responsibility." Judy: "..." Could he not be so bold? Lewis, you are a man with a girlfriend, if anything happened due to drinking, she would not be able to take responsibility. Judy was about to refuse, but one look from Lewis made her immediately put on a smile: "Thank you for the wine." One had to bow their head under the eaves. She relied on her boss for her salary, so whether it was drinking wine or even urine... no, she could not drink urine, better stick to wine. Judy took it with both hands, her insincere appearance making Lewis feel irritated. He greatly desired to
Judy's heart tightened, and she asked cautiously, "What... did I say?"After waking up, Judy didn't put on her glasses, and her disheveled hair added a touch of wild beauty. Her delicate features, porcelain skin, and bright eyes were highlighted by the morning sunlight streaming through the window, creating an ethereal glow around her.It was then that Lewis realized, the Judy before him was a stark contrast to her ordinarily unremarkable appearance. Her skin was very fair, with a rosy tint beneath its whiteness, and her loose pink pajamas made her cheeks look even more like blooming peach blossoms.Could it be that his secretary was actually a beauty?"President?"Noticing Lewis staring at her, an uneasy Judy called out to him.Lewis, returning to his senses and realizing his lapse, quickly composed himself and said with a cool demeanor, "Just teasing, you don't need to wear your glasses anymore. And that fringe of yours, there's no need to keep it either; it's quite outmoded. You lo
On the way back to the company, Judy tried to minimize her presence and sat at the very back of the car. After all, she had had too much to drink and was experiencing some memory loss; Lewis decided not to interrogate her about it, and she played along as if she was unaware.Upon arrival at the company, Lewis went directly to the CEO's office to receive an important report from Leo, while Judy took the opportunity to slip back to the secretarial department."Judy, did you get a new haircut?" Linda was surprised, "You look really good like this, your face shape isn't suited for bangs, so without them, you look very attractive.""Thank you," Judy replied, a bit embarrassed.Since Lewis hadn't assigned her any tasks today and she hadn't been called to the CEO's office, Judy took it for granted to work in the secretarial department. On a typical day without specific tasks, Judy wouldn't have to go to the CEO's office, as Leo was Lewis's right-hand man.Today was August 20th, and Judy pers
Three of them gathered for a meal at their old spot, "Delightful Bites."Judy loves the spaghetti here.John arrived first, still the same private room. When Judy arrived, she headed straight for the private room and relaxed once inside: "I can finally have a good meal today. You have no idea, since I became a regular employee, this is the first day I’ve been able to get off an early shift."John said with a smile: "Then, have a good meal today, which department are you working in now? Is the workload heavy, can you cope?""The Secretarial Department." Judy replied: "It’s not too busy as long as I don't have to entertain superiors with social outings. Has Susan mentioned when she will arrive?""She should be here soon." John thoughtfully poured Judy some tea and asked, "What’s going on with you two? You had me make all the calls, didn't you talk to her yourself, did you have a falling out?""Not really." Judy propped her chin with her hand and said, "Ever since Susan got a boyfriend,
Susan nervously inspected her bag. Such limited-edition designer bag could lose much of their value with just a slight imperfection.Unfamiliar with the proper care and maintenance of luxury handbags, Susan attempted to clean it with a tissue, only making it dirtier."You owe me a new bag," Susan, on the verge of madness, relentlessly berated the waiter. "You've dirtied my bag, a gift from my boyfriend, worth 80,000 dollars! An LV brand, see?"Susan kept stressing the price of the bag.In view of her attitude, the waiter shot back, "I don't recognize any LV. Who would bring such an expensive bag to eat here? It's obvious your bag is a fake. Are you trying to swindle me? Was your boyfriend blind to fancy someone like you, with your looks and still climbing the social ladder?"Those words hit Susan where it hurt the most."Who says it's fake? It's real," Susan argued fiercely, clinging to the waiter. "You will pay for my bag. Call your manager over here!"Judy hastily interjected, "Susa
John drove the car, worried about Susan's change in behavior, Judy and John decided to follow and check on her. They had just left the restaurant and paid the bill when Judy saw Susan getting into a luxury car. It was the chauffeur from Royal Estate, now exclusively assigned to pick up and drop off Susan."Hurry, Judy," John called as he drove up.Judy opened the car door and got in: "Follow that black Mercedes ahead."John pressed the accelerator and quickly followed: "That Mercedes is worth over half a million dollars. Susan really found a rich boyfriend. But why is she hiding him from us? Is she afraid we'll see him? Afraid we'll ask to borrow money?"People who strike it rich often distance themselves from family and friends, fearing they'll be asked for loans."Who knows what she's thinking," muttered Judy. "Stay on it and don't lose them. Once we see this mysterious boyfriend, we'll know what's going on."John followed Susan's car as they gradually left the city center and drove
