#Chapter 6

Darlington's POV;

I awoke in my bedroom to a brand-new day beginning. Today is New Year's Day. I could hardly contain my excitement as I could not wait to go downstairs and tell my parents that I was determined to tie the knot with Jenna Colton this year.

I have been in love with Jenna for five years now. Since Bruce was my best friend in school, I got to know her through her older brother.

We both reside in the center of the city and took the same business course. Here, the Colton family was also prominent and well-off.

Jenna has had success in her acting career. She has been the face of numerous brands.

Even though I was aware that she had undergone numerous surgeries and operations to improve her appearance, I still adore her.

I am incredibly in love with Jenna, and I am not sad I asked her to marry me last weekend.

In addition to not responding to my post, my father has vanished from the internet since the announcement of my engagement to Jenna went viral.

To ensure he would not see me posting about Jenna again, my father purposefully blocked me.

I was told to quit posting about Jenna by my dad. However, Jenna is the woman I am in love with.

How could I not share my life's passion on social media? I would be betraying her, by that logic.

Jenna is my lifeblood and the reason I love her so much. I constantly tell her that I could not live without her, and I am aware that Jenna hesitated to accept my proposal ring. However, she was aware that my desire for us to settle down had always existed.

After telling Jenna not to worry about my father, I promised to talk to him about accepting our marriage.

Although Jenna had informed me that she was not ready for marriage just yet and that I would have to wait for her because she had a lot of work to do as a model, I reassured her that being my wife would not prevent her from pursuing her goals.

I have supported her ever since we started dating, and I continue to do so now.

I got out of bed and got ready to go downstairs to tell my dad that I was deciding to get married.

My father hated Jenna and had told me to avoid her; perhaps I should tell her not to come near me ever again while we are together. Jenna was not able to visit my workspace and office, even though I would like her to. I sincerely mean everything I said and did when I told Jenna how much I loved her.

I entered my personal space. My room was sufficiently large and roomy. More than three opulent beds could fit inside, and there would still be extra room.

After taking a shower, I noticed that it was past nine in the morning. We celebrated a cross-over night at home on New Year's Eve, which is why I woke up late.

My family and I were waiting to see the fireworks and the start of a new year last night.

I am so excited to have a child soon. I want to marry Jenna and promise her that I will always be there for her, even though I know she was afraid of becoming pregnant for me.

I retrieved a purple shirt and black pants from my closet and put them on. My short black hair is combed over my head.

I allowed my hair to grow slightly because I prefer to keep it smooth. After I was done combing my hair, I put on my manly perfume to give me a fresh, New Year's Day-like scent.

At last, I put on my black slippers and left my bedroom on the top floor of my father's massive estate. Our duplex house is a typical one. The house has eight rooms total, including a living room, kitchen, and guest rooms downstairs.

My father was the one who planned his enormous mansion and gave the builders instructions.

Jenna had informed me that she disliked coming to see me at my parents' house because she was aware of my father's disapproval of her. As Bruce did, I intend to purchase a new home and move out. However, at the time I disclosed to my mother my intention to purchase a house of my own.

With a frown, my mother told me it was too soon for me to live alone. But my goal in life is to be self-sufficient. She said that when my father got married, they moved into my grandpa's rural home until my father saved up enough money to buy a house of his own in the city.

As per my mother's advice, I should not leave my father's house until I have a child or two of my own.

Nevertheless, Jenna took offense at this, so I made a vow to her that after we got married, I would buy her a house.

My father was alone when I came downstairs and into the living room. Sitting on the black couch in the living room, he appeared to have not taken a bath despite wearing a white garment.

As he opened a file in his hands, I came downstairs to say hello.

"Good morning, Dad," I said, and my father glanced at me after pausing what he was reading.

He removed his glasses, which were perched perfectly on his nose bridge.

With a warm smile spreading across his face, he kept it inside the case and turned to face me. "Good morning, Darlington," he responded to my salutations. "Happy New Year."

"Happy New Year to you, Dad. "Where is Mom?" My dad responded to my question by saying, "She is upstairs and still in her room." "You are aware that we slept in late last night."

Sitting across from my father, I said, "I know, Dad."

"Yes, Darlington. That brings to mind. Yesterday night, I wanted to tell you about this, but I decided not to rush things," my father said.

"Daddy, what is it?" I asked, glancing at my father's face.

"Your spouse, Amara Nicholas, is arriving in the city today and will be moving in with us," he said.

"What?" With extreme disbelief, I exclaimed.
