The next three days Tamara felt like she was going stir crazy. If Fenrir wasn’t following her and staying in her general space he was pacing around the outside of the house. She was getting tired of him not letting her leave and had stopped teaching him things. Things he should know but didn’t. Clearly didn’t have a lot of knowledge about computers. But it seemed that once she showed him, something in that brain of his clicked and he just knew how to do it. It was amazing and eerie to be honest, the rate at which he learned.
She hated when he sat and stared at her. Like he didn’t need to blink and she was starting to wonder if he even slept. She had food arrive from a delivery service and he had slowed down on eating but still ate a good amount. At least she wasn’t having those horrible dreams any more. Just a man in her house who she was sure was watching her sleep.
“Okay.” She said turning the car off. “I need to turn in my phone, and then get food, and you aren’t going to eat anything until I pay for it got me?” He looked at her. He'd eat what he wanted.“I’m not going in until you promise me.” He growled slightly but nodded, fine. Bitch clearly wanted it her way and it angered him. Good thing he didn’t have a voice, she might have slapped him for his thought just now. Seriously she was being controlling and he didn’t like being controlled. Look what the gods had to do to contain him.“These are the rules of our society. I’m not trying to dictate to you.” Tamara stated seeing the darkness to his gaze and she swore that the silver was turning darker and changing color or something. “We’ll go over there first and then I’ll get f
The house was dark and rather quiet. Fenrir had walked around it a few times and then it started to rain so he went back inside appeased that everything seemed to be in order out there. No one was lurking about, and the scents were normal. So were they in the house. Over the past few days he realized he was starting to get defensive about the house, and checking if there were intruders. Or even people she knew coming on to the property. Clearly he was starting to get territorial, another sign that he was healing. Several days had passed now. So he was getting a bit antsy about what was around them. Not that he needed to worry about unwanted visitors. She seemed a bit more reclusive and she seemed to be worried about this Max. He didn’t know who Max was, but she was clearly worried about him. Fenrir wasn’t sure he liked it, who was this man? Probably enemy, couldn’t trust people as far as you could throw t
Tamara set her phone down and continued to look up at Fenrir who stared down at her. She had no idea suddenly what to think of him, because she trusted Max. But not human? Just what could this man possibly be? It had to be magic involved. It was the only thing she could think of. An enchantment that kept him the way he was for so long. Some kind of warlord from times long passed? He had the look of one, or rather the air of one she guessed. Someone that knew how to fight and meant business. Honestly she’d not really thought people would be as healthy or good looking as he was. He had perfect teeth for crying out loud, they didn’t have dental way back when.“Why are you still here Fenrir?” She asked suddenly even though he had no voice. “Why are you still in my home when it seems pretty clear you could go anytime you wanted to.” She more demanded, because now with that ca
Tamara pinched the bridge of her nose. She had no idea what to believe at the moment. While she thought she had a clear level head, it didn’t feel like it now. She still wasn’t sure she believed in beings other than special humans. But she took Max’s warning to heart and started to research anew. She just didn’t know if she could get her head wrapped around what it would mean if she was wrong, and what Max said was right. If by chance Fenrir was the real deal, he should be a fucking giant wolf. She didn’t mean a two hundred pound cujo. She meant like crush your house under foot kind of giant. She was pretty sure she didn’t see any giants wandering around nowadays. But according to Norse legend there were realms, nine of them in fact and one of them was where giants were from. To top it off Fenrir had two siblings, one of them was named Hel. So what the fuck? Who were the
“You sure Fenrir? Seriously it’ll be fine. I’m coming back and I don’t think that flying is smart for you.” She also wasn’t sure about bringing him. Might be better to take the chance to leave him, but he didn’t want to stay. She was lucky to have even gotten him a ticket to come with her to this conference in New York City. She was giving a talk and then it was a social event afterward. A lot of chit chat that she didn’t always care for. She had to keep the contacts, and they liked touching base with her and the unique services she offered. It’s fine. He mouthed to her as they stood in the terminal. He felt antsy but otherwise okay. She’d told him they had drugs to help with anxiety because it was going to be a smaller space. He felt he could deal with it, and she wasn’t going without him. More because he didn’t think she was safe than she wouldn’t co
Tamara was glad when they landed. She didn’t know if he was going to be able to get back on a plane after that. At least he hadn’t done anything crazy, like turn into a wolf. A couple times she felt his skin ripple. She’d watched him but he stayed calm on the surface.Waiting to get off the plane, completely different. If she hadn’t been standing in front of him, she had a feeling that he’d have shoved them out of his way to get off the damn thing. She was glad that they had seats closer to the exit. However he clearly didn’t mind taking hold of her again. She’d been flush against him as they waited in the aisle. He was tense, and she felt a rumble in his chest. She hadn’t protested his hold on her and figured that being more relaxed would take the edge away from him some if he was taking cues from her.
They were silent for the ride to the conference and came to a building with a lot of stairs in the front. Kind of looked like a museum. At least from pictures he saw of what museums looked like. There were well dressed people going up the stairs and he got out narrowing his eyes at the man that opened his door and then the one that did it for Tamara. What were they doing, did they want something? Were they slaves or just servants? He’d seen both and neither looked like they were treated poorly.“Okay, so it will be a decent crowd, you okay with that?” He shrugged, not the answer she was looking for and she noted the way that he eyed up the attendants who were parking cars. This was going to be great, she thought that sarcastically. Though she felt a laugh, looked like she was going to learn how to socialize a wolf.“They don&
Tamara finally got up to talk and he watched her intently. Also looked around the room as well. It was clear most seemed interested in what she had to say, and she was a good speaker. Clearly done this a hundred times, he felt edgy sitting here. Really like someone was going to come up and recognize him and try something. Like he was waiting to be forced back into the black nothing or servitude. Which so far he hadn’t seen anything but humans here. Though he did catch the occasional scent of a hybrid or two, but they didn’t seem to know what they were.He glanced over at Josh and he was listening to Tamara speak. Also watching her with a bit more attention than what she had to say. He stared at the man a bit, didn’t like him at all. Tamara ended her speech and a round of applause went up for her. She came back to the table and sat down. She gave a few smiles but looked relieved. He
