Chapter Five

I woke up in an empty room the next morning. Stretching and yawning, I stood from the bed, scratching the itch on my butt before walking to the bathroom I was supposed to share with a roommate who was still absent.

I didn't know who she was, but I was certain that I had a roommate who would share the room with me. The extra bed in my room was a dead giveaway. The person's name would only appear on the door underneath my name when she arrived.

After I finished relieving myself, I came out searching for any message Adalyn might have left behind, but after searching to no avail, I  stopped and sighed.  It was the weekend, which meant there were no classes till Monday. So I wondered where she had gone.

The sound of a chirping bird made me turn towards the window where Milli was perched looking at me with her blue eyes. Yawning again, I fed the tiny bird.

After two hours of not hearing from Adalyn, I decided to go in search of her. I took a quick shower and threw on a pair of white leggings and a red hoodie to go with my hair. Afterward, I combed my stubborn hair into submission, though not without wincing at the pain the action introduced to my scalp.

I opened the door,  my mind set on going to Adalyn's room but I walked into a familiar sweet-smelling wall of muscles. We both stayed like that for a little longer than necessary until I stepped back and craned my neck to see the Alpha's face.

"What are you doing? Why are you here?" I asked, flushing with embarrassment. I hoped he didn't notice how slow I was at moving away from his addictive scent. Although I highly doubted that.

"Which do you want me to answer first?" He asked, smiling down at me, I frowned up at him in return.

"Just answer both." I snapped at him.

He chuckled and brought out his hands from behind his back, hands I hadn't noticed had been hidden behind him before then.

He brought out a beautifully wrapped bouquet of fresh moonflowers, their silver petals looked like they were sprinkled with tiny glitters. "Happy Birthday, lady red. Can I come in?" He asked but didn't wait for a response before gently shoving me aside and entering the room.

I frowned, watching him place the flowers on the window sill, "How did you know my room? Adalyn told you about my birthday, didn't she? Why did you get me flowers? you don't even know me."

He laughed. "Which question do you w…what the hell is that?" He asked, his demeanor suddenly changing, he grabbed me and pulled me behind him, his attention fixed on something above my head.  I followed his gaze and screamed in fear.

On my ceiling was a very thick and dark fog that seemed to be stuck in one spot but had what seemed to be thousands of dark wiggling creatures inside it. Immediately, a very loud and monstrous howl echoed throughout the school. Three more howls filled up the air after that.

Oh shit! I thought, my heart beating rapidly at the sounds of imminent danger.
