Chapter Nineteen

The door opens slowly, startling me. Boris enters the room and sits on the bed.

I am afraid that he will do something, but my husband just stares at me intently.

"I'm sorry for what happened, Emma."

"Are you apologizing?" I giggle "Who are you and where is my husband?"

He takes my hand and brings it to his lips. I feel my heart beat fast because of it.

How can I leave when he is treating me so well now? This is so unfair.

"What your mother said isn't true. I didn't kill your father."

"I also have to apologize for being suspicious of you. I have to give you the benefit of the doubt."

He lies down next to me and pulls me to his chest. I close my eyes and sigh. Why is this being so hard?

I am confused as I watch Boris get ready. The suit was perfectly aligned on his body.

"Where are you going?"

"I have to go to the casino today. Do you wish to go with me?"

I give a smile and get excited. He had never called me to do anything involving the mob before. Does this mean he is trusting me?
