Distracted

Alex felt as if she wasn’t wanted here with all of the questions that he was asking, and she thought it was only okay, to leave, but right before she made up her mind, he said. “Don’t get me wrong, Alex,” he shook his head as he sat down across her in the kitchen. He had just placed a cup of hot coffee in front of her, so he took his cup and sat down.

“I was just angry to see you in the rain, drenched to the bone and shaking like a leave. You could catch a cold. He should have been the one to bring it here.” He said, but the real reason was that seeing her here would distract him, and possibly, he won’t be able to concentrate anymore, but he wasn’t going to tell her that.

She shrugged her shoulders. “I wasn’t able to tell him that you were back here and not at the main house. I even assumed he knew. Besides, he seemed to be in a hurry anyway, and I didn’t know what to do when he left so hurriedly.” She said.
