Chapter 17 - Tension

Charlotte's POV

She didn't know how to react to Elijah's sister's request to temporarily use her room.

"Don't mind her."

"Is what she said true?"

Elijah sighed. "Will you agree for her to stay there for now? But she doesn't want to have a roommate, so you'll sleep here in this room, next to me."

She glanced at Elijah's bed and grimaced.

She did have a room, but she had only used it once, and now, because of Elijah's sister, she would sleep there.

"So, Charlotte? Are you okay with that? If you're not comfortable sleeping next to me, I can sleep in the living room."

She shook her head. "It's okay."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"Okay. I'll just change, then we'll go down together."

She nodded. Elijah went to the cabinet and grabbed clothes to change before heading to the bathroom.

She picked up the picture frame she dropped when the siblings entered earlier. It was their wedding picture, with no smiles on their faces. It was displayed in Elijah's room, but she didn't notice it when she entered
