CHAPTER SIX:

Quinn POV

I grumbled all the way to Alpha Perrin's room, knowing full well how much I didn’t want to be near him—not even a little. But deep down, I knew it was something I had to do. If I wanted to get out of the enemies’ grip as soon as possible, this was a small sacrifice I needed to make.

“Can I come in?” I called out after knocking on the door. Silence. Typical Perrin. He wasn’t much of a talker. After a moment, I added, “If you are not decent, Alpha Perrin, I suggest you fix that. I’m coming in.”

I waited for a beat, then pushed the door open. The cold air hit my face as I stepped inside. The room felt emptier than I expected, almost lifeless.

“Maybe he’s not here…” I muttered, scanning every corner of the space, hoping he would appear. “Then why call for me if he’s not even going to show up?” I sighed, turning to leave.

Suddenly, I nearly walked right into him—a wall of a man standing silently in my path.

My mouth fell open slightly as I took him in. He stood t

CHAPTER SEVENQuinn POV What does he mean he wants me in his bed? That can only mean he wants to sleep with me, right? And even if it doesn’t, it should. Either way, that’s not something I want—especially not with someone as vile as Perrin.“I am not interested in you that way!” I blurted out. The words tumbled out before I could stop them.I watched his face shift. His whole body went rigid, his expression twisting into confusion. His brow lifted, like he was waiting for me to repeat myself.“What?” he finally asked, his voice sharp.I pushed him back, putting some space between us as I sat up and stared down at the bed. “I have zero interest in you,” I said firmly, though my voice softened into a whisper. “Our marriage isn’t real, and you know it. Sleeping in your bed, being... intimate with you? That was never part of the plan. I don’t want you touching me” Alpha Perrin’s expression twisted into something unreadable—anger? Amusement? I couldn’t tell.“You are really full of you

CHAPTER EIGHT Perrin POV "What does she want again?" my wolf growled inside me, and I couldn’t help but wonder the same. Did this woman actually do anything useful around here? Anything at all besides being a constant pest? All she ever did was try to stake her claim on Perrin. And now, here she was this morning, like an unemployed friend with nothing better to do on a Monday.“You really have no shame, do you?” she sneered, her face set in false confidence. But I could tell—beneath it all, she was burning with anger and jealousy. “Parading around like you belong here. Sleeping in his bed, acting all cozy. Guess I overestimated you. Turns out, you are nothing but a desperate little slut.”“Oh, and you are what? Perrin’s self-appointed guard dog?”” The words slipped out before I could stop myself. I might get into trouble with Perrin for this, but she was getting on my last nerve, and someone had to put her in her place.“What did you just say?” she snapped, her arms uncrossing as s

CHAPTER NINE Quinn POV "You’re taking too long to make one decision. What’s it going to be?" I didn’t know why, but cold sweat ran down my forehead as I gulped in fear. "I’m not sure I do well with blood," I confessed, looking at him again. "I don’t know if I have the strength to do this. I mean, if I do it, then what happens to us? When I want to heal you, my power will be drained, and—" "Do it," he said, cutting me off. His tone was more serious now, and the intensity in his gaze made me gulp again. Taking a deep breath, I stepped forward and crouched beside the man, whose face was twisted in pain. "We don’t have all day. And in case you haven’t noticed, I’m not a patient man," he said, breathing heavily. I stretched my hands toward the open wound. Closing my eyes, I tried to focus all my energy on it. I could feel my power traveling through every part of my body. My eyes shut tighter in concentration, and my breathing started to quicken. Warmth surrounded my hands. It

I rubbed my side dramatically, shooting him a glare. "Pretty sure there are better ways to handle a woman than tossing her around like a sack of potatoes. Just saying." Alpha Perrin didn’t even bother to respond. Apparently, I wasn’t worth it. Instead, his eyes dragged over me, like he was deciding whether to squash me like a bug or just ignore me completely. Then he let out this long, tired sigh—like my existence alone gave him a headache. "You can sleep on the bed today," he muttered, voice all grumbly like I had just asked him to donate a kidney. He avoided eye contact like looking at me might physically burn him. "Don't expect me to be this generous next time." And with that, he stalked off to a corner like some brooding vampire. "Oh wow, such chivalry," I mumbled under my breath. I wasn’t sure

CHAPTER 11Alpha Perrin “No scar at all? It’s completely gone?” I asked, staring at the guard who now looked perfectly fine. “It’s nothing short of a miracle,” the doctor replied. “The leg was beyond saving, marked for amputation due to its inability to heal and the lack of a cure.” He inspected the guard closely. “But now, he’s completely fine.” “It seems the healer’s magic worked,” the guard added respectfully, glancing at me. “Otherwise, how else can one explain how I healed so suddenly, Alpha?” I stroked my chin, studying the guard’s fully healed leg. The scar was completely gone, and he looked as if he hadn’t been on the brink of death from wolfsbane poisoning. “And you are absolutely sure none of the medicine you gave him caused this?” I asked the doctor again, needing confirmation. He shook his head. “For a wolfsbane poisoning that severe, none of the medicine I have would have worked,” he admitted. I let out a deep breath, processing his words. So, she wasn’t us

Quinn's POV (Few minutes earlier )A spy? A freaking spy? I stared at the note in my hands, reading it over and over again as if the words would magically change into something less ridiculous. Why in the world would my father want me to spy on Alpha Perrin? What the hell was he up to? And more importantly—why did he think I would be remotely good at this? One wrong move and Perrin would wipe out our entire pack without breaking a sweat. Was this really a risk anyone was willing to take? Because I, for one, was not. I was still trying to wrap my head around it when a voice snapped me out of my thoughts. “What took you so long?” The head maid stood at the bottom of the stairs, arms crossed, her expression as stiff as the apron wrapped around her waist. I barely had time to react before she continued, “I said thirty minutes. You are two minutes late. I will let it slide since it’s your first day, but next time, I expect you to be on time.” Two minutes? I swallowed a sigh

Maybe a little test, hm?"Before I could react, Gianna pushed me in the chest. It wasn’t soft and the way she did it made me lose my balance. My foot twisted and before I could catch myself, I felt my ankle snap beneath me.I gasped, falling hard on the ground. The pain that shot up my leg made me wince . CHAPTER 14QUINN POVDo you really think I have time for your joke right now?” Alpha Perrin asked. His tone was serious, and damn it, for a moment, I could feel the fear taking over. But then I remembered—no, I couldn’t let myself be scared. Not by him. He had turned me into a slave for just one mistake. One mistake. I had tried to help him, and yet, he threw me aside. Well, now he was going to have to work for my help.“I couldn’t save the guard on my first attempt,” I said, voice cold as I met his gaze, holding it. “And instead of giving me a chance, you threw a maid uniform on me and decided I was useless." I paused, giving him the full force of my look, not backing down. “I want an apology.”Alpha Perrin let out a scoff as he settled into his usual chair. His movements were smooth, like he was in control of everything. He reached into his pocket, pulled out a cigarette, and lit it. The smoke curled up around him as he took a long drag, exhaling slowly.I couldn’t help but stare.

QUINN'S POVWe all watched Gianna as she took a bite of the food. My heart pounded so hard I could hear it in my ears. Any second now, she would start choking or clutching her stomach in agony. Something dramatic. Anything. But nope. She just chewed, swallowed, and then had the audacity to look straight at us like we were the crazy ones.“Are you happy now?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.Wait what?My stomach dropped. This wasn’t right. Fiona swore there was poison in the food. Was I losing my mind? Did she lie?I glanced at Alpha Perrin, hoping for some kind of reaction, but all I got was his usual cold expression. “See?” he said, leaning back like he had all the time in the world. “Told you. Gianna would never poison you. You stress yourself out for nothing.”I whipped my head toward him, my frustration bubbling over. “No. I know what I heard. What I saw. She tried to poison me. What did you hear her say to this person?” I sat upright, my heart pounding against my chest.“She.. she is planning on poisoning you…”“What?” My eyes bulged, the words hitting me in the chest. Fiona nodded her head. “That's right. She's plotting to poison you, and I'm absolutely sure they're going to go on with this plan of theirs soon.”Heat brewed in me. I became uncomfortable, rising quickly to my feet. My feet moved across the room, pacing.“Are you sure you heard right?” I couldn't help but ask even though I knew how stupid it sounded. She nodded. “Of course. I even saw her with both eyes of mine.”I bit at my lower lips, my mind racing with worry. I tried thinking of wha

Where was this coming from?It was so sudden, so out of nowhere, that my throat went dry. I swallowed hard, trying to force some moisture back into my mouth.“What… What are you even talking about?” My voice came out shaky, my heart pounding like a damn drum. Was it possible for a heart to actually explode? Because mine was giving it a damn good shot.Perrin didn’t blink. His sharp gaze burned into me like he could see straight through my skin, through my bones, all the way to my soul.“You know exactly what I am talking about, Quinn.” His voice was smooth, almost amused. “You are not actually your father’s first daughter, are you?”I jerked back slightly, blinking fast. “What?” A laugh bubbled up my throat, but it came out forced. “Of course, I am. Quinn's POV The door to the room suddenly flung open. I raised my head, curious as to who it was..Alpha Perrin sauntered in, his face long and stern. His feet dragged against the floor, creating a loud upsetting noise.I hissed, irritated by his presence. How dare he come to me after all that's happened?“What brings you here, Alpha Perrin? You shouldn't be here.” The words traced out of my lips before I realized it.He exhaled, his face falling with annoyance.Without uttering a word, he sat next to me, feigning a smile. His face? It made my belly twist into a knot.I gulped down saliva, still uncomfortable with his presence. I was shaken from all that had happened, and it was quite visible. It sure would take a while before I regained myself. Alpha Perrin Having been away from the pack for some time, I was elated to finally return. An important mission made me leave the pack, a few days ago. As Gianna stood before me that very day I prepared to leave, her hands clasped together, I ogled hard at her.She had this look on her face, I couldn't exactly decode. I ignored it like a plague, going on with the main reason why I had summoned.“Gianna,” I began, my voice loud and fierce. “I'll be out of the pack for a few days, and during the time that I shall be away, You would be in charge of the affairs of the pack.”She nodded her head in agreement, smiling at me. “You have got nothing to worry about. The park is in entirely safe and hands.”I smiled back at her, satisfied. She turned and was about to take her leave When something struck within me. “Gianna, Wait a minute.”She halted, resting her gaze on me. “I have a strict warning for you, and knowing kind of person I am, I wouldn't expect you to go against it.”“Speak, I'm

I exhaled, cleared my throat, and began to speak.“The men!! There were about three of them.” I paused, the memory of the incident gnawing at my chest.“Gianna had ordered me to strip before the guests She had invited for a party, and I refused her order. As punishment, she asked the men to beat me to a pulp.“Damm it!! What exactly has come over Gianna?” he slammed his hands onto the bathtub. “Can you describe these men?”I nodded, “Yes I can. They all are tall and lanky. Heavily built as well.”“You can recognize them if you see them?” “Yes I can. How could I ever forget the faces of those who plunged me in such pain and affliction?” My voice was filled with spite and anger.Alpha Perrin patted me on the shoulders. “I will have this handled as soon as possible. For now, I have something to show you.”My brows furrowed,

QUINN'S POV Alpha Perrin's eyes burned with fury.I wasn't sure I'd ever seen him as upset as he was at that moment. The men bowed at him, their hands shaking uncontrollably. They seemed smitten and had the look of a toddler about to be punished.Soft sobs escaped from my lips, glad that he had arrived at the moment. “Is nobody going to answer me? Or would you rather have me kill you all?” He yelled at the top of his voice, his eyes moving between the men. They shivered in fear, none able to bring themselves to speak. I wiped the tears off my eyes as I tried to get up, but to no avail.Gianna rushed forward, standing right beside him. “Long leave, the Alpha,” She praised, bowing to him as well.Alpha Perrin was totally uninterested. All he wanted from them was an answer, something he wasn't getting at the moment. “I didn’t realize you will be coming in today.” Gianna smiled, rubbing her hands in anxiety.“Would you like something to drink in the main house?” Turning towards her,

He was infuriated, his breathing ragged. “Why do you have to stress us out so much?”They dragged me back to the house where Gianna was waiting. She wore a frown over her face like a plaque, her arms clasped together.“Did you really think you could escape from me? Didn't I already make it clear that you're mine.”Gianna moved closer, raised her hand and brought it heavily on my face. I recoiled, almost falling to the floor.
