Invitation

Catherine's POV

I sat on the bed in my room, nursing my burnt leg injury when Lucas entered.

“Hey, how are you feeling?”

“It's still sore, but I'll survive. What's up?

“Alpha Darin is here to see you.”

A frown appeared on my face at the thought of seeing him again after what his brother did to me, but I knew I had to face him eventually. “What! Why is he here?''

“I don't know, but I think it's really important. You should see him,'' Lucas suggested.

After much hesitation, I finally agreed to see him. As I limped my way toward the door, I couldn't help but feel self-conscious about my injury.

I reached the sitting room and met Alpha Darin standing in the doorway. I felt a rush of emotions swirling inside me. Anger, fear, and confusion battled for dominance, making it hard for me to think straight. I looked at him intently, my expression hostile, and asked him sharply, “What do you want?”
