THE DRIFT

As soon as Ethan walked through the door, I could feel my heart beating really fast . I had prepared dinner for us both, hoping it would ease the uneasiness I felt. But there was no escaping the elephant in the room, and I knew I had to confront it.

"Ethan, we need to talk," I said, my voice trembling with emotion.

He looked at me with concern, and I could sense his apprehension. "What's wrong, Ava?"

My heart was pounding in my chest, and I tried to steady my voice. "Why didn't you tell me that you had a child with your ex?"
