"Come on, Skyla! Get this done quickly! You can do this!" Skyla's mind was trying to uplift her. Despite how weak her body had grown; her determination fueled energy in her that helped her do the cleaning quickly. She was on the verge of completing the hallway.
Skyla's sweater did very little to keep her warm. On top of that accidental drops of the soapy water splashing on her partially naked legs as she dipped the mop inside the bucket was making her tremble convulsively.
Skyla had been working straight for 20 minutes. Her body demanded some break. She stopped in order to catch up her breath. While she was refueling her body, her eyes lingered from the clean floor to the couch. Skyla could no longer see Mia sitting. She saw an omega standing by the couch, glaring at her.
Skyla knew that Mia might have assigned her the responsibility to watch over her. The omega stomped her feet aggressively as she walked towards Skyla. Her pursed lips opened to let out a growl, "Why the heck did you stop? Hurry up, you useless little she-wolf?!"
Skyla's hands curled up into tight fists. Expecting unfair treatment from the higher pack members was reluctantly acceptable, but not from the she-wolf who came from the same class as her. Skyla badly wanted to summon her wolf and scrap the omega away, however, the running time forced her to bury her anger and play smart.
The omega snorted wickedly, "Good job, Skyla!" Her fingers poked Skyla's temple hard and she said curtly, "Now, start off with the right-wing, starting from the Alpha and Luna's chamber!" She kicked the bucket and some water splashed over Skyla's feet making the hair on her legs stand up from the cold.
Skyla entered the chamber to find Luna Elizabeth sitting on the bed. After bringing the bucket and the mop inside her chamber, she walked up to the bed and bowed to Luna, "Greetings! My Luna!"
As expected, Luna didn't spare a glance at her, but simply scoffed, "Get your work done quickly, you bitch!"
Skyla had an indifferent expression on her face. Those curses were now a normal thing for her. It felt like they were her other names. While she was mopping the floor by the side of the bed, Luna ordered, "Pour me a glass of water."
Skyla bowed and hurried to the nightstand and poured a glass of water and forwarded it to Luna. Instead of grabbing the glass, Luna deliberately pulled her hand away causing the glass to fall inside the bucket.
Skyla knew that Luna deliberately did it, but she bowed her head and apologized, "I am sorry, Lu…" Before she could complete it, a tight slap landed on her cheek. She groaned in pain. That slap activated the passive pain of the swelling and bruises. A stinging sensation grappled her face and tears started rolling down her cheeks.
Elizabeth barked, "Can't you do this simple task, you filthy bitch!" Luna bent down and took the glass out of the bucket filled with the soap water and splashed it on Skyla's face. Skyla cried out in pain.
The disinfectant pierced her bruises leading to a burning sensation. Her face was itching. Skyla's hand holding the mop dropped it on the floor and her hands started scratching her face.
Skyla couldn't even open her eyes. She felt as if someone had set them on fire. Rubbing her eyes, she started crying and screaming in pain, "Aahhh!!"
All this was seen by the omega at the door and Elizabeth sitting on the bed with a smiling face. After quenching the fun out of the painful event, Elizabeth screeched, "Leave my chamber right away! GO!"
Within a second after she was done speaking, Skyla rushed toward the bathroom. She could hardly see what lay in the front and would end up colliding with someone or the other and being cursed by them.
Opening the bathroom door, she stood in front of the mirror and her hand hurriedly searched for the tap. Turning it on, she first washed her hands and then splashed some water on her face.
Soon, her eyesight was restored. She cried on seeing her face in the mirror. Earlier, it was just her nose that was completely red owing to the cold, but this time, her entire face was deep red in color. Her skinny face was no longer skinny but appeared big due to the swelling.
Grabbing the basin, Skyla wailed, "Why? Why are they doing this to me?! Why can't they leave me one day without any punches or bruises?! Why won't they allow their bruises engraved in me to heal?!" She slowly took her hand close to her face and mildly touched her fingers on the cheek. She was quick to avert her hand as an excruciating pain emerged.
There came a fierce knock or should the word be bang followed by the observer omega's angry voice, "You don't have the entire time to stay inside! Come out!"
Skyla opened the door to find the omega pointing at the chamber as she said, "Now, go clean that one!" Skyla's gaze followed her finger and was stunned. She lost her voice when her gaze fell upon the closed doors of her uncle's chamber.
She folded her hands and begged, "Please, please don't send me there! I can't go there! No, I… I can't!!" But the omega mercilessly pulled her by her arm and took her to the chamber.
Skyla tried to free her arm, but the omega won't just leave her. Instead, she would press it harshly. Skyla wailed, "Don't you know what Adam uncle did to me? Please, don't send me there!"
The omega turned back and barked, "Sexually abused you, right?! Is that my problem? Hell No! Go and clean his room!" She pushed her against the closed doors.
Skyla was stunned by those words. Standing straight and detaching her body from the door, she retorted, "How can you talk about such a serious topic casually?!"
The omega didn't like her retortion and she took a deep breath, "If you don't enter the chamber within the next few seconds, I will make sure your sister is dead!"
Skyla's eyes went wide and she said incessantly, "No! Don't do anything to her, I am going!" Skyla turned to the doors and her trembling hands went to open the doors. Slowly she opened them and took a step inside, and immediately turned around to check if her uncle was not hiding behind the
doors. On spotting no one, she turned around, her shaky eyes scanning the entire room, but no one was inside.
She was growing breathless as she recollected what happened to her on the party night. Those closed doors reminded her how her uncle had called her to his chamber and he was hiding behind waiting for Skyla to enter. Once Skyla stepped inside, he grabbed her from behind and pushed her onto the bed.
The bed was empty, but Skyla could see her uncle mercilessly hovering over her body. Skyla's dawdling feet were soon pinned by her uncle's feet. Her uncle soon ripped off her dress and took away the most precious thing she had preserved for her mate.
The chamber was as quiet as a mouse, but Skyla could hear her screams. Her hands went on to cup her ears, but still, her cries and screams from that night urging her uncle to stop devouring her were audible.
Her heart pumped hard as she heard her screams further.
"HELP, HELP ME, HELP ME!!!" Those screams were left unanswered. Despite the werewolves from other chambers hearing Skyla, nobody went to check on her or to save her from the beast called her uncle.
Skyla almost jumped when the omega knocked on the door aggressively from behind. She tossed around to find her speaking, "You see the chamber is empty. You have no other option, but to clean. So, let me give you a tip to clean it before your uncle arrives!"
Skyla got drawn from that nightmare and came back to reality. Quickly grabbing the mop, she started cleaning.
Out of all the chambers, her uncle's chamber took the least time. She feared that her uncle might arrive and the nightmare would be repeated.
After 1 hour:
Skyla was done with both wings. The last chamber she cleaned was one from the left wing belonging to her elder sister, Kayla Creswell. The Red Moon Packhouse had two wings. The right-wing was reserved for high-ranked werewolves including the guests that visited the packhouse, while the left one was for the lower-ranked werewolves.
After cleaning her uncle's chamber, Skyla wasn't feeling good at all. She tried hard to shrug off that night's incident, but it wouldn't leave her until she arrived at her sister's chamber. Her sister's chamber was in a disheveled state, but better than hers. In the initial years, Skyla didn't have her own chamber, she used to live in the dungeon, but lately, she was given her chamber. Her chamber was the smallest filled with all the used-up items. Not even a single thing in Skyla's chamber was a new one. Everything right from the bed, curtains, and study table to the clock and mirror were already used up items by the right-wing members which were later on passed to her when they grew weary or out of use.
Her sister, Kayla's chamber filled her with the zeal, the zeal of independence. She was determined to free herself and her sister from the shackles of the Red Moon Pack by getting into the top university. Skyla had aimed for the bird's eye: Isle University; the top university in the werewolf world. For
getting enrolled in the university there was an entrance exam that was to be given and that exam was held that day. Skyla knew that she hardly had time to reach the school which was located in the southern part of the territory, but she decided not to lose hope.
After disposing of the dirty water and cleaning the buckets, Skyla stepped out of the bathroom. She said frantically, as she cleaned her wet hands, "I am done!"
Before she could leave, the omega grabbed her hand and said, "Not yet! Who will clean the…"
An authoritative tone intervened with the omega. Both of them toppled their heads towards the source of the voice which was none other than beta Mia. To Skyla's shock, Mia unclasped the omega's hold over her shoulder, freeing her. She said, "Skyla, you may leave for school now!"
On the completion of her sentence, Skyla gave a quick nod and started running. The omega asked, "Miss Mia, but weren't we supposed to stop her?" Mia's lips cocked into a wicked smile, "Yes! And the job is done already! It's 10:30 AM already! The exam will start at 11 AM, sharp. By the time Skyla will reach the school, the exam will be half over!"
Skyla stopped for a while. Her left hand formed a fist that reached her chest as she tried to catch up her breath. Her sickness had taken a toll on her stamina to run in the cold weather. After catching up on her breath, she ran towards the carriage stand.
To her shock, there was not a single carriage on the stand. She said, running out of breath, "How is this possible? There's always at least one carriage on the stand!" She threw her head side by side, but there was no carriage coming from any direction.
Her eyes were brimming with tears. She pressed her lips together and tried to battle her tears. "Nope, I won't give up! No matter what!"
All this was observed by two she-wolves standing on the balcony of the packhouse. One was Mia and the other was Elizabeth. Elizabeth patted Mia who bowed to her acknowledging it. Elizabeth said, "Smart move, Mia, must say! Good job!"
Mia said, "No matter how much we break her from the outside, it's difficult to shatter Skyla from the inside. Theresa notified me that she cleaned the hallway in just 20 minutes. The speed with which she was completing her duties made me realize her dire passion to get out of this pack by that entrance exam. And that is when I shooed all the carriages away!"
Mia smiled, "The weather is cold and she is terribly sick, in no way is it possible for her to summon her wolf and race through the woods to reach the school!"
Elizabeth smirked, "I am impressed by your thinking, beta! In no way, should Skyla excel in her life. We can't just let her fulfill her dream of getting out of the pack. She will have to stay in the Red Moon Pack until she dies!" After looking at the helpless Skyla for the last time, both of them went inside.
Skyla's hands hugged her stomach tightly. It was getting difficult for her to bear the hunger. She had been hungry for two days. It was becoming difficult for her to keep her eyes wide open. Skyla slapped her cheeks to stay awake.
She went inside the woods. She tried to run, but could hardly walk. She leaned her body against the tree and heaved, "Ruby, Ruby are you there?! I need you! Please wake up!"
Skyla was calling her wolf. The last she had heard from her wolf was five weeks ago. She released her hands cupping the tree and reached for her temples. Pressing them gently with her fingers, she pleaded, "Ruby, I need you! It's only you who could help me cross these woods, to make it to the exam hall!"
But Skyla couldn't hear from her wolf, breaking her from the inside. Her erect body in no time landed on the ground. Pulling her legs to her chest and wrapping them with her hands, Skyla tried to warm herself. The sweater was wet leading to her temperature to rise. Burying her face, Skyla cried.
After a few seconds, she heard a voice, a faint one. "Skyla, don't cry!"
Skyla pulled her face and her lips curled up into a smile and she said, "Ruby!"
Ruby said in Skyla's head, "Skyla, I know you need me badly! But I fear I can't get you through these woods. I am growing weaker day by day owing to no food and assault tormenting you and…"
The sentence was left hanging, scaring Skyla that Ruby might not talk to her anytime in the future. She stood on her feet and called her out, "Ruby, Ruby, say something! You can't leave me!"
Skyla pulled the straps of her bag and said, her voice breaking, "Ruby, you will have to come. This exam comes once a year. If I miss it out today, it means I will have to face one full year of assault and I am afraid that I will be able to survive the next year! Show up, Ruby!"
With those words, Skyla started running and prayed to the Moon Goddess, "My fate is the worst. But I won't get down in the dumps, never! Heal my wolf, show her up!"
Will Skyla's wolf take the reign of her human body?
Will she reach the school on time?
What lies in Skyla's fate ahead?
A strong cold breeze brushed through the verdant trees leaving their branches to sway crazily. The wind blew with a hovering sound intensifying with every passing moment. Skyla didn't stop running no matter how worse the wind was hitting her body and making it difficult for her to breathe. She raised her head to look at the atmosphere. The weather was getting worse and Skyla's mind charged with positive energy was slowly getting drained. Tears rolled down her cheeks from the very thought of not being able to reach the school on time. She said to herself, "No, fate cannot be worse, stopping me from going ahead! Fate can't keep me away from my freedom, no!" With the weather growing worse and Skyla's hope getting shattered, she felt she was going to lose, but that was when something miraculous happened! Her running body slowly got transformed into a big, grey-furred wolf with beautiful hazel-green eyes. Ruby finally arrived and raced at a speed faster than Skyla's human form. In the
"Leave me, Matt!!" Skyla shook her head and stomped her feet incessantly to get free from the devil, but Matt grew harsh on her. He pulled his face from the crook of her neck and lustily had his eyes staring at Skyla's chest as he went on unbuttoning her shirt. Before he would rip off her uniform, his phone started ringing. Matt stomped hard and irked, "Arghh! Who is it?!" He released Skyla's body and his hands dug inside his pants pocket to take out his phone. His vexed expression switched like that of a chameleon when he saw the caller. It was Max, the future Alpha. He gritted his teeth and threatened Skyla, "Be quiet! If you pour out even a single word, I will beat the hell out of you!" Skyla shuddered on seeing his anger. However, his anger took a backseat when he received the call and said sweetly, "Greetings, Future Alpha, Max!" His sweet words were met by a thunderous reply, "Come to the canteen right away! I have got something important to discuss!" From within Matt was boi
"Wait!" A loud female voice pierced the noise and everyone fell silent. A 22-year-old she-wolf was standing at the door. Her skirt was way too above her knees giving a view of her slender thighs. Her white shirt was unbuttoned partially and wasn't tucked in the skirt. Her black hair dyed red was tied in a half ponytail with fringes left free to cover her forehead. Max stopped assaulting Skyla on seeing her and straightened himself up. His eyes sparkled as he saw his partner in crime who was equally evil or eviler and threatening to Skyla, Whitney. Her walking inside the washroom was met with the bows of all the werewolves. Whitney gave her dazzling smile to Max and said, "Don't spoil your hands for this bitch, brother! She is my enemy and not your, brother, so let me do the honors!" Her brother stepped back and spread his arms as he said, "Yeah sure, go ahead!" Everyone cheered for Whitney. Whitney raised her hand and the crowd got quiet. Crouching on the floor, Whitney pulled Sk
After 5 hours "Ouch!" Skyla woke up with a pounding headache and an aching body. Her eyes opened to see a creaky ceiling fan rotating above. The first thought that crossed her mind was: "Where am I?!" Her gaze switched from the ceiling above to her body. She was laid on a white single bed with various pipes inserted in her backhand. Her bruises were bandaged. She tried to drag her body up, but it was too painful to do so. Before her eyes could go on searching where she was, she heard a shrill voice. "Ahh! Finally, you are awake! I thought my friend and I would have to carry you all the way to your chamber!" Skyla found the voice to be familiar. She recognized that it was the head nurse of the nursing chamber at the Red Moon Pack. "How did I arrive here? Who brought me here? I am sure nobody from the Red Moon Pack will ever have mercy over me. Who did it?" The questions simmering in her head gutted down when the nurse harshly pulled out the pipes inserted in her backhands. Her ha
There was an array of dining tables in the spacious dining chamber. Kayla immediately looked at the dining table reserved for the high-ranking pack members. It was already full with Max, the Alpha, and Luna, Mia, Caron, and Whitney occupying their seats. Kayla squinted her eyes as she thought, "What's wrong with the Alpha? He appears a bit tense!" Kayla rolled her eyes, "Who cares? All I care about is Whitney!" Kayla's eyes were about to leave the dining table unless she caught someone staring at her. It was Max. Kayla was taken aback by the way he was staring at her. Just like any other she-wolf, Kayla had a crush on him. Her face turned red; the moment Max called him through his eyes. Kayla nodded and walked up to the dining table. All the while, her mind was jumping, "Oh my Goddess! He finally noticed me! He is calling me!" She bowed to him. Max blinked his eyes and then instructed, "Serve!" Kayla was stunned. She tried to keep that shocked look behind by plastering a fake smil
"I thought Kayla brought me to the nursing chamber, but it was him!" Skyla sighed. She was sitting on the carpet right next to the furnace to keep herself warm. She had a paper handbag beside her. Her wounds were concocted with an ointment that she found in the paper bag. That ointment was accompanied by a small letter; a letter that clarified who brought Skyla from her school to the nursing chamber. It was Prof. Thomas. Skyla went on to read his letter. Hello Skyla! I am so sorry for the violence and torcher inflicted on you. I wish I could stop it, stop those rascals from bullying you, but you see I can't do much about it! I don't have any control. In fact, I am being controlled. Skyla's dry eyes soon accommodated some tears. She could absolutely feel what he had written. She cleared the tears and sniffed as she continued with the letter. You are badly thrashed by them. So, I thought it was the best thing to send you to the nursing chamber. I hope they treat you well! I hope y
"What's the secret of Alpha John and his family that the Crystal Blue Pack are exploiting mercilessly?" Kayla thought while she had her ear glued to the door to listen to their conversation going on inside.Kayla couldn't derive much from whatever she was hearing as she was not acquainted with the topic. The more deeper they ran into the conversation, the more questions would pop in Kayla's head. She was eager to know what was the secret. She asked in her mind, "What is the secret that our pack has to pay monthly allowance which if not paid could lead to a war."Oh my God! What's brewing? Alpha John has a secret, a secret that can put an end to his rule or should I say not only his rule but existence too! I thought the prince is the holy one, but it seems like he is sinful just like the Red Moon Pack!"RING RING!Kayla was like a cat on hot bricks when all of a sudden the silence enveloping in the emergency chamber got broken by her ringing phone that alerted the werewolves inside th
Skyla's breath intensified as she was breathing through her mouth hung open. She was scared that Max was here for having his hands over her body, just like Matt did that morning. A seamless stream of tears emerged from her eyes. She tried to move back, but stopped when Max shouted, "Take it off, or I will rip it off!"In just one giant step, Max got close to Skyla, his body towering over her. Skyla got scared by that sudden move and she crossed her arms protecting herself. Max was perplexed seeing that. He threw his head back and laughed out loud before speaking, "What?! Haha! Do you really think so I am here to f*ck you?" He snapped his fingers and said, "In just one wink, I can have any she-wolf in my bed! I don't chase them, I just bait them! Following me like a puppy is their job!"He grabbed her chin and pinched it as he laughed off, "Don't think so highly of yourself that you will be screwed by the great Alpha Max!" Pushing her away, he dusted his hands and said, "You have go
