CHAPTER 12: He Finally Hit Me

The sting followed right after yet I remained frozen in my spot. Gasped from the Omegas filled the air and the deadly silence between Calvin and I. As for Raine, she stopped bawling her eyes out.

I didn’t know if it was like a baby, she was already satisfied enough to shut her mouth after seeing me get hurt by his mate, or if it was plain shock.

To avoid tuning my anger even more on her, I resorted to simply believe the latter.

“You will never, ever call her that again.” Calvin muttered, yet I didn’t look at him, I lowered my head instead, staring at my sandals as I felt them distancing away.

I bit my lip, trying to remain as calm as possible before I finally had the courage to raise my head, staring at their backs as they walked away from me.

Calvin’s hand was placed at the low if Raine’s back and I can still hsar how he’s consoling her. He didn’t look back. I waited and waited for him to at least take a look.

What if I collapsed? Or was suddenly attacked by a rogue just past this forest? What if I broke down?

Just any of the reasons he could probably have to take a peek behind and glance at me— I’ll accept it wholeheartedly.

He slapped me and yet he didn’t feel a single ounce of remorse.

I suck in a huge amount of air, filling back my dried lungs from all the tension that had bloated it earlier.

This will pass.

It shall pass.

I finally took a turn and glared at the Omegas which remained standing right in their spot from earlier since their Alpha came. My hands were itching to slit their throats, it had always been this itchy when it comes to the likes of them and Raine.

But I am way too tired. Emotionally and physically to even lift a hand.

I wipe the tears that left marks of weaknesses on my face from streaming so haed earlier when I suddenly felt a sharp sting at my bottom lip.

I took a quick look at my thumb which touched the sting and there it was—blood.

He slapped me hard enough to leave a mark. My frustration once more rose and the tears together with droplets of rain falling from the sky cascading down my cheeks.

I raise my head looking at the skies adorned with trillions of stars looking down at me after what happened. I can’t help but think if it was possible that one of these stars was Calvin’s mother.

Her last words struck on me once more as my hands held her thin and wrinkly one beside her death bed.

“You are the Luna . . . You should never forget that. I am more than honored to have you beside my son.” she continued on to tell me how I should manage the pack, and to satisfy and guide Calvin at all cost even with the last of her breath.

I stare directly at the sky with its stars, so long until the heavy rainclouds covered the stars.

Luna, are you looking at me right now? If you are then you probably know hos your son finally found his mate. The only one who should remain by his side. Luna, fate just won’t allow me to obey my promise with you.

“Then is it okay for me to . . . let go?” I murmur in the air as the droplets drop on my lips to my neck. I look down my feet before I finally released an exhausted sigh.

I am tired.

I took a quick look behind me. The Omegas are gone, thankfully. I slowly headed back to the pack house. I walkes freely wet in the living room as everyone was probably at the dinner area. The two are both probably in there too.

I walked my way upstairs leaving tracks of water on the wooden floors. The door to my room was finally coming close when someone popped up from the a hideen corner just beside the door.

“Maryna!” I leaped right on the spot when Elliot came out from nowhere. The feelings of melacholy and the pent up anger from earlier seeped away with the sudden shock replacing it.

Everything is better than sadness.

“What the fuck?” I exclaimed. His smile was wide as he welcomed my presence, but not after lookung over the current state I was in. His broes furrowed as he looked me up and down, my sundress that was alive from earlier with him was soaking wet and is clinging on every spot of my skin it can latch on.

My lip was bleeding and from the looks of it, Calvin probably left a hand mark on my face from how loud that hit sounded earlier.

Seeing and remembering just how my great day with Elliot ended with Calvin was just too funny.

“What happened to you?” he asked, jaw evidently clenched as he stared right at me. His hands was up mid wir, just close to me but not touching. At least he knows his boundaries and how much I loathe being pitied.

“It was a rough day, Elliot. Leave me be.” I roll my eyes and was about to get past beside him but he step right where I was about to, beating me to it.

“Elliot—”

“Should I bring you dinner?” the scowl on my face instantly vanished as I stare at his grey eyes. He reminds me of a dog. A dog that’s willing to do anything to make his owner pet him.

Before I knew it, I found my lips curving upward in a small smile. I lowered my head before a soft chuckle left my mouth.

“Please.” I pursed my lips in a thin line and nodded shortly. He smiled widely betore rushing away to the stairs and into the kitchen. I can hear his hustle as the Omegas greeted him yet his strps were unstoppable.

I laugh for a minute.

And then everythjng came back.

I was still soaking wet and my sight was spinning, everything is cold and there isn’t any breeze coming in here.

I entered my room before gently touching my forehead with the back of my hand. It was on fire. I was both exhausted and soaked.

I take everything off before stepping into the tub. I lay my head back in satisfaction when the hot water hit my sore muscles, soothing it all out.

I sigh, remembering what happened.

This was my fault. I probably was too much with the Omegas, they were merely chattering about my shortcomings.

Yes, that’s it.

I —

“Maryna?” A knock sounded from the door before I ca even utter another word in my head.

He’s damn fast!

“I’m coming!” I loudly announced back before quickly rinsing my body, and scrubbing the dirt away. I put on my robe and a hair piece to hold my hair together and to prevent it from trickling on the floor.

When I came out, Elliot was nowhere to be seen, and another knock sounded. “Are you there?” My eyes stared at the door in a confused look before I chuckle once again.

He didn’t enter because I didn’t tell him to. He really is way too gentle for this world.

I opened it and he was standing with two trays in his hand. The other filled with vegetables and the other was all meat.

“Why are there two? You’re not expecting me to eat all these, are you?” I furrow a brow at him and he chuckled, small smile lines forming from the bottom of his grey eyes.

Elliot looks really young, but he’s definitely a year older than me.

“Give me a few seconds to answer,” he uttered as his hair was covering his eyes. The both of us were still standing right in front of the door.

He was trying to blow off the hair covering his eyes and I roll my eyes before pushing it back myself. I place my right hand on Elliot’s shoulders to steady him in place before pushing his hair back with my left hand.

“Thank you, that was—” Elliot’z words were blurrig away from my ears the moment I saw who was behind him with a murderous gaze standing not that far from us two.

Calvin . . .

I try my best to avoid his gaze as much as possible and smiled at whatever Elliot actually said.

“What are you two doing?” he marched over to us, walking with grace yet fueled with anger. I gripped the door tightly ready to shut it down the moment he went close.
