"Elder Sister, he regained consciousness!" Lui Xian brought his hands up to cover his ears from the shrieking voice right beside him. He looked up to see a little girl putting away a dish almost full of peeled potatoes. She turned and also stared back at him smiling at the man who had been sleeping for a whole week. "How do you feel? Should I call for the doctor?" The little girl asked attempting to rise but she was pushed down by a hand which moved quite faster than lightning. She had known that the man knew martial arts after all her Elder Brother often took her along on his many voyages. Also the sword and bloody appearance were very familiar in her memories. "I'm okay. Is there any adult around? I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude." Lui Xian asked in a hoarse voice. He felt that it was weird to be talking to a toddler about his health. It made him feel as if he was burdening her at such a young age. "There is no need. We are very happy that you ended up here." Hexiu
Sensing someone's presence watching him from behind, Lui Xian swiftly stood up and turned around. His face was cold. His eyes devoid of any emotion, as he stared at the other with a heated gaze. He scrutinized the appearance of the other person who was also giving the same stare. Feng Shao was a metre away from the other. He displayed a disappointed look as if he had come across with the last person he wanted to see. He wished to turn around and pretend not to have seen him. But it was too late. They had already made eye contact. "Did you hear what I just said?" Those were the first words Lui Xian asked, not even passing a single greeting. He didn't mind that it was his first time meeting him. And that he was kinda rude to the other man. Instead he hoped that the other would brush off what he had just heard and be on his way."Yes. I heard everything." Unfortunately Feng Shao didn't get the hint.Lui Xian lowered his head while he clutched the smooth material of his clothes desperat
"We are not selling this house. Young man maybe you've got the wrong address." Old Feng spoke whilst sitting on a stool under the tree. He supported his back on the trunk and looked up at Lui Xian. "No Granpa I have been told to come here. Lady Hexiu mentioned that she had found a room for me to stay." He responded while making his way to greet him. "You mean Lan're sent you here. Come sit. Xiao Feng, prepare some tea. We have a guest."Lui Xian took his seat beside the old man and started chatting with one another. They talked of trivial matters such as state affairs and silly gossips. They were getting along very well."You!" His attention was drawn away by that remark. He felt that the voice was very familiar. And so he raised his head to look at the disdainful man he had met not too long ago."What are you doing here? Oh, you are following me." Lui Xian stupidly accused standing up as well to look at the other man. The accused could only frown with disdain feeling his head aching
"Hey bring me a cup of tea. I feel so cold in here." Lui Xian ordered Feng Shao who was busy fixing supper in the small room just next to the one he was in. He could smell the fragrance of the burning wood and also the aroma of the food he was making. The other man did not even acknowledge his mere existence as he remained very busy, adding wood in the fire and putting water in the pot. He had managed to make two dishes so far. And the annoying guy he hated so much was being lazy in the next room not even bothering to help. Anyways he liked it that way, he didn't have to see his face. Well not for too long. When he didn't see anyone coming with his tea, Lui Xian exited the room and then moved into the kitchen and sat on a reed mat in a position where he could see the other do all the work. He observed each and every movement the other performed seeming it as if it's a show. When he was too bored in silence, he supported his elbow on the ground and rested his head on his palm. One of
Mist covered the whole village, birds flew away from the trees towards the sky as if they had sensed danger. The sun was yet to rise for it was still early in the morning. The dense forest was weirdly quiet and heavy boots stumped towards the residence of Qiu Yu village."Commander, I heard that he's staying with the Feng family." One man from the enemy's side saluted as he reported what he had gathered for the past two days. Bao Lu had been sent to the village to spy around so that they could find the man they had failed to kill during the hunt. At first they had assumed that he had died somewhere on the hunting grounds. However, after searching thoughroughly for several days and not finding any body they started to doubt it and later found news in their circle."All of you get ready. Ten of you attack from the front door and the remaining wait here and keep watch." He ordered as he readied his weapon for a fight. "Yes sir!" The rest of of them started doing what they were told. "T
Feng Shao looked up at Lui Xian who had just been tied and felt quite happy. He wanted to speak of all the grievances he had for him but the knife pressing on his delicate neck stopped him from doing so.The commander signalled his men for departure and the group started towards the dense, dark forest to the west of Qiu Yu village. They were walking on foot while their leaders were using carriages. At some point the two men found themselves walking behind the carriages as they were dragged and guarded to ensure that they were not able to escape.Although Feng Shao had just been close to death he looked so calm and collected. Lui Xian would here and there glance at him to see if he was pretending or not. But Feng Shao would glare back at him as his scowl would be very evident to Lui Xian's eyes."....." 'I take my words back. He is quite something else.' After giving him a last look, he decided to look around to figure out where these man were taking them. They were still meandering de
Creak!"Come out."Someone spoke with a hoarse voice intending to scare the two men, who had been waiting patiently at the same time they were also freaking out.Feng Shao was first to stand up, fixing his pale blue robes that had just gotten dirty whilst sitting on the soil. He straightened his body and took a step then bypassed Lui Xian as he walked past the open doors. He looked up at the man who had just unlocked the lock and felt very small. The other was tall and big and Feng Shao seemed to be an ant being stared down by an elephant. He could do nothing but be obedient afraid of being flattened to a piece of paper. He quietly followed behind his huge frame. His eyes were fixed on the hilt of the sword that was on the waist of their captor. Feng Shao could see that it weighed a lot and a normal man like him could not even lift a small version of it. He sighed as he continued to move onwards never turning to look behind him. His mind was immersed in some worrisome thoughts. 'How
Feng Shao squinted his eyes open only to see that he was somehow put in a room. Although the room was a little cold he liked how it looked. It was decorated with lanterns and pink cloths fluttering with the breeze. The wooden table and chairs were by the window. There was also a pair of screens at one side which gave life to the room. Poems were also hang on the walls making the room look more scholarly and beautiful. Especially the immaculate peach blossoms drawn on the background. Even the bamboo leaves looked breathtaking as well. The white cotton blanket covering half of his body felt very warm. He pushed it aside and moved so to get off the bed. His feet came in contact with the ceramic tiles, and boy did it feel cold. He immediately reached for his shoes and hurriedly put them on. Just when he was about to stand up to get out of the room, he heard;"You're awake, Master asked you to join them in the hall." Feng Shao jerked up and faced the door and saw the familiar boy leaning
