Little one

I tried standing up, but little Marcus pulled me down and I almost fell on my knees, but I quickly regained my balance. I pulled his head away a little bit to wipe away his tears , but he hid his face back in my neck.

"Little Marcus." I called out to him.

"Yes." He said pulling his face out of my neck, looking at me.

"Aunt Sophia is sorry." I said wiping his tears away.

"Why did you leave me?" Little Marcus asked.

"I did it to keep you save my little Marcus. I had to leave to protect you all. Aunt Sophia didn't want to leave you, but I had no choice. I won't leave you again, I promise."

"Pinky promise." He said sticking his pinkie out towards me.

"Pinky promise." I said taking his pinkie into myne.

"You must be Marcus's aunt Sophia." The teacher said walking towards us with the little boy.

"I prefer miss Romano." I said with a toneless voice standing up with little Marcus.

"Of course, my apologies." The teacher said clearing her throat.

"Elijah when is your daddy coming to get you?" The teacher asked tucking her hair behind her ear smilling at the little one.

The little boy named Elijah moved away from the woman and towards me. I looked down at him and he tucked on little Marcus pants.

"Aunt Sophia, can you put me down please." Little Marcus asked pointing to the ground."

I placed him on the ground, and he stood next to the little boy.

"It's fine miss Lombardo. Me and my aunt Sophia will wait with Elijah until his papa arrives to pick him up." Little Marcus said pulling the little boy behind him.

The teacher named miss Lombardo gave my little nephew a look that I did not like one bit. She should be happy that we were outside with two little boy's present, or I would have already shot her in the head for looking at little Marcus like that. I walked towards her and stopped in front of her.

"Miss Lombardo, I'm going to say this in the nicest way possible but dare look at my nephew like that ever again, I will carve your eyes out of your fucking skull and shuff them down your throat. Do you understand." I wispered in her ear with a toneless voice.

I stepped back and looked at the teacher. She was looking at me with big eyes as if she couldn't believe what I just said to her. I looked at her and gave her a siniter smile. She moved backwards and almost tripped over her feet. She quickly regain her balance and ran off into the kindergarten not looking back once.

I turned around and looked at my nephew and the little boy named Elijah. The little one looked at me and wispered something into little Marcus's ear.

"Elijah says thank you aunt Sophia." Little Marcus said looking at me.

I said nothing I only nod my head

"Little Marcus is he your friend?" I asked and the little boy looked down again moving even closer to little Marcus if hat was even possible.

"Yes, were best friend, aunt Sophia. No one wanted to be his friend on the first day of kindergarten  because he didn't speak with anyone, and he was always at the back of the classroom alone, so I decided to be friends with him so that he won't be alone." Little Marcus said with a big smile on his face.

This little one made my nephew this happy after I left him.

"I can see that you're the talkative one between the two of you and he is the shy one." I said looking between the two of them.

"Elijah doesn't talk to anyone besides his family and me, aunt Sophia." Little Marcus said.

"Elijah this is my aunt Sophia, I told you about. She gave me the stuffed tiger that I always bring with me that you like." Little Marcus said pointing towards me.

"Hello." The little one wispered waving at me ,coming out behind from little Marcus.

"Hello little one named Elijah." I said waving back at him.

He looked up at me and smiled.

"Come on let's go wait in the car until little one's papa comes to get him." I said sticking out my hands towards both of them and to my surprise little Elijah placed his little hand into mine. I looked down at him and he gave me a little smile. I stood in the middle of them and walked with them towards my car. I opened the car door and placed them in the back seat. I closed the door and walked to the other side of the car and climbed into the driverseat. I looked at them through the rearview mirror and saw little Marcus taking out the stuffed tiger and they started playing with it.

I took my bag I had on the front seat and took out the stuffed tiger I bought myself. The reason why I gave the stuffed tiger to little Marcus was so that he can have something of his uncle he will never be able to meet. The stuffed tiger was the only thing I had left of my older brother ,so when I gave little Marcus it as a gift , I bought me a new one. I had that stuffed tiger with me for twenty-five years  because it felt as if I still had my brother with me. So, I bought a new one that is exactly the same ,just to feel I still have something of him with me.

I looked at the little stuffed tiger and turned around handing it over to little Elijah. He looked at me not knowing what to do.

"I bought me a new one two years ago when I gave little Marcus my one I had since I was one years old. I'm giving you this so you can also have one then both of you will have your own stuffed tiger. You don't have to take it if you don't want to little one." I said looking at Elijah.

Little one looked at Marcus and then then back at me. He nodded his head, and I gave it to him. He took it in his small hands and looked at it.

"Thank you, miss Sophia." Little one said giving me a big smile

"My pleasure little one." I found myself smiling at little one.

"Now we both have one Elijah." Little Marcus said with a smile.

I turned around and layed my head back closing my eyes. Little one looked familiar but where did I see him or with who?"

"Aunt Sophia." Little Marcus called from the back seat. I opened my eyes and turned around in my seat looking at them.

"Something wrong little Marcus?" I asked my nephew.

"Would you play with us, please." Little Marcus asked.

I looked over at little one and he was looking at me with eyes I couldn't say no to.

"I would love to little Marcus but I don't have anything to play with." I said in a soft voice.

"I brought my stuffed lion with me today." Little one said taking out the stuffed lion from his little backpack, handing it over to me.

I looked at him and took it from his tiny hands.

I played with them and both of them had the biggest smiles on their face the whole time we played. They were laughing and screaming as we played. They lauged so much that their stomach's started to hurt and tears started to come out of their eyes. I didn't realise that thirty minutes has already past and little one's papa has still not come to pick him up.

"Little one is your papa always this late when he is supposed to come get you?" I asked looking at little one.

"Sometimes." Little one said in a soft voice, looking down.

"Aunt Sophia, Elijah has a little book he keeps in his bag with his papa's number in it for emergency's."

"Little one give me the book, I will call your papa. You and little Marcus can play while I call you papa, okay." I said sticking my hand out to Elijah.

Elijah took the little book out of his bag and gave it to me.

I opened the book and on the first page was written Mr.Russo with a phone number underneath it. I took out my phone and dailed the number, but the call was ended immediately. I looked at my phone and it showed call ended. I dailed the number again and this time it did ring for a few seconds before the call was ended again. I tried again , and the person picked up. I was about to speak but was cutt off by someone.

"What, who is this?" The person on the other side said with a stentorain voice.

"Is this Elijah's father?"

"Who's this?"He asked with a throathy voice.

"I'm Elijah's friend, Marcus's aunt. I'm with Elijah right now. Me and my nephew have been waiting with him for the past thirty minutes, waiting for you to come get him. Everyone went home already, and it is just us here. May I ask when you will come get Elijah?" I explained in a toneless voice.

The other side was quiet for a few minutes.

"Could you put Elijah on. I would like to speak with him." He said in a quiet voice this time.

"Little one , your papa wants to speak with you." I said handing the phone over to Elijah.

Little one took the phone in his small hands and held it to his ears.

"Papa." Little one said in a soft voice.

"Yes, it's Marcus's aunt Sophia. The aunt he always talks about." Little one replied back to his papa.

"I'm fine papa."Little one said with a smile.

"Papa wants to speak with you, miss Sophia." Little one said holding the phone in his small hands towards me.

I took the phone from little one and held it my ear.

"His uncle will come get him. He will be there in fifteen minutes." He said in a quiet voice.

"Okay." I said in a toneless voice.

He was about to say something , but I ended the call before he could. His voice sounded familiar but where did I hear it.

"Little one what is you papa's name?" I asked looking at him through the rearview mirror.

"Octavious." Little one said looking at me.

"Octavious Russo." I asked turning around in my seat to look at little one.

Little one nodded his head and I turned back in my seat looking outside. He can't be. No....he can't be Octavious Russo, king of the underworld and don of the Italian mafia. It makes sense now because Elijah looked familiar. I once saw a picture of Octavious Russo with a little baby in his arms. So, this shy little boy is the son of the ruthless Octavious Russo and heir to his mafia. So much for keeping little Marcus away from the mafia and he ends up becoming best friends with the son of the fucking king of the underworld.

Little Marcus and Elijah played in the backseat with their little stuffed tigers while I was busy on my phone. There were a few minutes left before little one's uncle would arrive. Not long we were surrounded by black cars. Men with black suits stepped out of the cars but one stood out , guessing it's little one's uncle. I stepped out of the car and closed the door behind me. I looked at the men , and it was Lorenzo Russo the third oldest son of the Russo family.

I walked to the other side of the car and opened the door for little one. I helped him down, closing the door behind him when I felt a little hand grabbing on to mine. I looked down at little one and he gave me a little smile.

We walked around the car towards Lorenzo, but he seemed shocked when he saw us. He looked down at where Elijah held on to my hand. I stopped in front Lorenzo, and I felt little one tucking at my hand. I looked down at him and he signalled me to crouch down. I crouched down to be at his level and he gave me a hug. I was shocked at first but then after a few seconds I hugged him back. He gave me a kiss on the cheek and waved goodbye as he walked off to his uncle.

I stood up and waved at him. I didn't even realise I had a smile on my face just because of that little boy named Elijah.

"Bye miss Sophia." Little one said before his uncle climed in after him , closing the door.

"Bye little one." I said back as they drove off.

I realised I was smiling and stopped immediately. Something is going to happen, very soon. I can feel it and I don't like it one bit. How am I suppose to keep little Marcus away from the mafia world now. He is best friends with the son of the king of the underworld. Maybe when they are done with kidergarten they will split up and forget about each other. Elijah is such a sweet boy but I'm trying to keep little Marcus far away as possible from the mafia world.
