Chapter 2 : The CEO Part 1

Chapter 2 : The CEO Part 1

"Victoria!"

"Am I tripping or did this jerk just blurt out my government name?", I thought to myself.

I turned to look at the handsome jerk, who now had an obnoxious smirk on his face.

"How and why do you know my name?"

"And who gave you the right to say my name mister?", I said with one hand on my waist and my shopping basket in my other.

"A little birdie told me", He grinned, showing off his white dentition that were probably brighter than my future.

Seeing that I wasn't amused, he confessed that he saw my name tag when he bumped into me.

"Look, I know we got off on the wrong page but it's your fault for not paying attention while walking and it's also your fault for not getting the cookies first", He said with a strong Australian accent, as if talking to an elementary school child.

"You know what, forget it".

"I was stupid to think that you'd apologize but you're just pinning the blame on me".

"Enjoy your cookies and I SWEAR, if I ever see you again, you're not gonna like what I'll do to you", I said as I angrily walked to the checkout table and stormed off after paying for my stuff, leaving that obnoxious man in shock.

"Ugh, today has not been good for me at all", I said as I boarded a taxi home.

During dinner at 8PM, Aysha asked how the interview went and I narrated everything that had happened that morning, including the contemptible man I met twice.

"But was he hot though?", Aysha asked with a mischievous smile.

"Really sis?"

"Is that what matters?", I asked in a duh tone.

"C'mon, why would you waste your anger on an ugly dude in the first place?"

"Now tell me, WAS HE HOT?", she persisted.

Now that I think about it, he WAS indeed handsome.

If it wasn't due to our first meeting, I would say he was a total hottie.

He was still a jerk, a very handsome one at that.

He looked so dreamy when I saw him at the convenience store, I wondered if he was a celebrity because he had that aura.

And his accent was so attractive. I loved Australian accent so much and it was fun to communicate with people in the accent. Although I had spoken to different Australian people, that man in particular was different.

How he spoke was so hot and I couldn't deny that I was a teensy bit attracted to him.

"Well, I guess you could say that he was hot, but his nasty attitude made him less attractive", I said to Aysha who was shooting arrows at me with her eyes, waiting for my reply.

"Hmmph, I guess that's a waste of handsomeness now", she said.

"Yeah you got that right". I said as we ate our dinner.

My phone suddenly rang, so I checked the number and saw that it was an unknown number.

I picked it up and instantly recognised the voice.

It was the one of the female interviewer at the secretary interview.

"Hello, miss Smith, we are happy to inform you that you got the job."

"Our boss was especially keen on taking you as his secretary", She said over the phone.

"Oh my gosh, thank you so much ma'am."

"I'm so glad I got the job."

"When do I begin work?", I asked politely.

"Monday 9:00AM, you should be at your desk, ready to greet the CEO and introduce yourself."

"We trust that you'd do a nice job." "See you soon Miss Smith."

"Have a wonderful weekend", the Interviewer said as she ended the call. I had barely dropped my phone on the table when Aysha jumped on me, squealing like a child.

"YOU GOT IT, YOU GOT IT, OH MY GOD I'M SOO HAPPY RIGHT NOW", Aysha said as we both jumped in happiness.

"This calls for a celebration", I said as I brought two bottles of beer from the fridge.

Aysha then turned on the karaoke machine and we danced and sang until 1AM before clocking out.

The next day was Sunday, meaning I would need to go shopping for new office wears, my old clothes weren't sizing me anymore as I'd grown out of them.

"Great, my last free day before selling my soul to the Mark&Co devil", I said as I drifted off to sleep.

Aysha and I both fell asleep on the sofa, too drunk to sleep in the bedroom. We didn't have any schedule the next day, so we had planned to sleep in.

I woke up by 10AM and cleaned up the mess we made last night. Aysha being the sleepyhead she was, went into her room to sleep some more.

"You'd better be ready by 1PM", I said to her before she shut the bedroom door in my face".

After I was done with my chores, I phoned my mum to check on her.

It was a custom to do this every Sunday.

Mum and Dad lived back in Texas with my little sister April. They did all their best to make sure my sister and I had a comfortable lifestyle and we grew up to be great women as my mum would say.

I moved to Melbourne with the hopes of becoming an independent woman and supporting my family from a distance.

I would send in their monthly allowance every month, although I had to reduce it due to my unemployment.

Now that I had a job at a buzzing company, I was sure their allowance would be quite high now.

"Hey mum, how are you doing?", I asked.

"Hi Vic, lovely to hear from you my darling daughter."

"I'm good and Dad's great."

"April is at her friend's, but I'll let her know you called."

"We were about to go for a walk for Dad to get some fresh air", she replied.

"Hey honey, how's Melbourne?", Dad said over the phone.

"Great dad, can't wait to bring you all very soon", I said with a smile.

"Of course, we'd be delighted", Mum said.

"We gotta get going now, bye Vic, talk to you soon."

"Bye hon", they said as they hung up.

"Those lovebirds, they wouldn't miss their evening walk for anything", I smiled to myself as I remembered the times they used to take my sister and I on evening walks.

It was always memorable.

Aysha must have seen me day dreaming because she appeared before me, all dressed up and ready to go.

She waved her hand to make sure I saw her and smiled.

I took in her appearance and saw that she was looking sparkly as usual, always making sure that she dressed to kill.

She was dress in a pink ruffle dress with a silver belt. She had a white purse to go with her outfit and silver heels that weren't too high for her, as she was also 5'6.

"Are you done day dreaming, Miss Smith?"

"We're running late", she said in a fake Aussie accent.

Both of us weren't Australian and occasionally, we would speak in a fake Aussie accent.

"Right, let's get going Miss Miles", I said in the strongest Aussie accent I could fake.

I walked into the bedroom to take one last glance at my outfit to make sure I didn't look over or under dressed.

I wore a black body-con dress with a silver leather jacket and flats.

I would be wearing heels tomorrow so I didn't want to wear out my feet.

I put on my strawberry scented perfume and applied some lipgloss.

"Now we're ready", I said to my reflection as I hurriedly went to meet Aysha.

"This is gonna be so much fun", She said as we boarded the taxi to the mall.
