Chapter 3

I almost dropped the letter when I almost lose my balance. The rain was hollering that it’s deafening my ears. My wounds are still swelling but I couldn’t care about it. I gripped the letter in my hand tightly while running through the heavy rain.

“P-please…be there…” I mumbled, hoping that he’s still in our meeting place waiting for me.

My tears didn’t stop from streaming down. My emotions are going along with the weather today. Good thing that no one is around or no cars are passing by to see how miserable I look today. I have no umbrella with me.

My mother thought I don’t have the strength anymore to move. Unfortunately for her I found my reason to live my life.

I just hope she wouldn’t notice that I was missing in the yard. I just hope she’s thinking that I am just inside my room, minding my own business.

I wiped off my face so I could see clearly since my tears are burying my vision. I continued and advanced without giving up. After hours of running I finally managed to reached my destination.

The light hit my face when I finally reached the mall. My eyes lit up when I glanced up the place.

I finally made it…

I could feel someone is staring at me. I look around the area and notice there are still people here. The look in their eyes holds sympathy. Others holds a disgusting look. But I couldn’t care about them.

I need to find him.

“Adam?”

I have to look for a man with red shirt and black pants. He must be still here…I just know it. I glanced down at the ripped paper on my hand and read his hand written letters.

A man wearing a red shirt and black pants.”

His description is vague but he said I should trust my instinct.

I started to move to go look for him. For hours I have been asking different men with red shirt and black pants their name and if they know a girl whose name is Lovely. Most of them couldn’t answer me because of my condition.

“Ms., are you okay? Do you need help?”

But to my disappointment, most of those I asked don’t know a letter, a name Lovely, or even about me. It’s getting cold already and I could feel my head spinning but I forced myself to keep on my track.

“Miss, don’t you need to go to the hospital? You’re bleeding.”

Someone interrupted my search when an officer here at the mall tap my shoulder. A lot of concern citizens are looking at me while some are taking a video. I hid my face and run away from the officer because I know he will take me with him.

I can’t talk about my abuse with other people. I just can’t let them know about my situation because I feel like everyone would just make fun of me.

I was limping while running when I bumped into someone. Because of the impact I dropped on  the ground, groaning in pain.

“D*mn! I’m so sorry!”

A gentle hand helped me. I glanced at my body that’s filthy, stinky, and has my blood on it. I saw a hand that’s holding me tightly on my arm.

“Your wounded…who did this to you?!”

My eyes travelled on his shirt that’s wearing a red color. And for some reason my eyes widened and my whole body froze in anticipation. My throat went dry as I slowly lifted my head to look at his face. The moment our eyes met, something struck inside me.

For years of hating myself and not feeling anything aside from pain there’s something in between those void that filled my heart with light. I was speechless and mesmerized by how I stare at his eyes. They are full of life.

“A-are you okay?”

I couldn’t answer his question immediately.

Because part of me is thinking that it’s finally him.

“A-adam?”

The moment I mumbled his name made him speechless. His eyes widened and his naturally thin red lips drop.

I didn’t realize I was talking with a god all this time. He look so…unreal. His eyes, nose, hair, lips…everything about his screams perfection.

“H-how did you know my name?”

I know he’s surprise to see me in this situation so I explained it to him.

“S-sorry. My mother beat me again and I have to run away when I read your letter. Sorry for coming late.”

I look down, “A-and sorry if I came out looking like this. It was too late for me to notice your letter. I’m so sorry for everything. P-please, forgive me-”

“Hold up.”

Adam stop me before I could even finish my sentence. He immediately place his gentle hands on my hands, caressing them.

“Your mother did this to you?” he asked.

“W-well, yeah. She did this to me. Don’t you know?”

He slowly shake his head, “ No, I don’t even know you.”

My whole world had stop from moving and everything around me turned gray in an instant. W-what does he mean by that?

“B-but…you’re Adam, right? Don’t you remember me? We’re exchanging letters. I have told you everything what I have been experiencing in life. You’re the one who told me to meet you here that’s why I run away from home.”

He seems bothered by my words because his hands that were holding mine loosened a little. Something inside me snap and without further thinking I grab his hand then pulled him closer to me.

“P-please…you have to help me, Adam. I know I look awful right now but please…bear with it. I need to escape from my mother. You’re my only hope.”

Adam was speechless. He looks bothered as he kept on looking down on my hands that’s holding him.

“M-ms. I’m sorry but I don’t really know you or recall you in my life. This is the first time I heard about your story.”

“W-what?”

“Babe, what are you doing? Who are you talking with?”

Before I could say anything, a gorgeous woman was standing behind Adam.

He called Adam her babe.

Adam is already taken.
