Chapter 23

“She was sprinting down the hallway with nothing but a towel hastily draped around her body when, out of nowhere, she ran into me.”

Silence.

Adam sighed, “I invited her in-”

“What is the reasoning behind your decision to take her yourself?” Aiden suddenly asked. “The other unit was right here.”

His voice was stern and intimidating. I couldn't help but flinch when Aiden's gaze landed on me, his eyes showing me just how much he disapproved of what I had done. Somewhere inside me, my fear was waging a war with my guilt. I felt the tears welling up in my eyes threatening to overflow, so I bit down on my tongue to try and keep them back. All of sudden, Adam piped up and it startled both Aiden and myself.

“Because she looks scared.” He said, gesturing to me “She has no clothes and she's shivering; I thought that maybe there was a reason behind her being here and if so, then I want to help her.”
