LOST AND FOUND- CHAPTER EIGHT

I jumped out of bed in my pajamas and drove out of the compound. l arrived at the hospital filled with Press waiting outside the building; the gist makers. I found my way into the hospital without calling the Press attention.

l enquired from a nurse about Zach who was even excited to lead me to the ward. She must be conversant with the internet gists.

I found him unconscious in the VIP ward with bandages around his head and legs.

" How was he able to get here?"

"A good Samaritan." The nurse replied.

“Please can I see the reports and diagnosis?"

The Nurse left and returned with the report.

"drunk?" That won't be good for his reputation after I had glanced through it.

"Yes ma'am "

"Thank God they are mere injuries."

"In no time, he'll recover."

"Can you conceal the drunk aspect of the report? His agency or anyone else must not know about it."

She was a bit reluctant but eventually agreed after I had credited her bank account with the

sum of one hundred thousand.

The director arrived a few minutes later and that part of the report was not revealed. He was told it was just an accident..

The director was relieved having found out it was not really a serious case.

He left him in my care as I promised to look after him, leaving my duty to Bella for the day.

He was conscious again, he slowly opened his eyes and saw me. I was still in my pajamas. I held his hand.

" I'm sorry." He apologized.

" No. I'm sorry. I should have followed you."

"I made a great mistake."

"It isn't that serious.. You should rest. " I stood up and kissed his forehead. "Joláadé." he called my name like he was about to tell me something.

" Let me get the doctor." l told him and turned to leave the room but he pulled me back.

"I'll be back." I assured him and left

the room.

While the doctor examined him, someone was inches away from the door, peeping.

"Christian?"

He felt sorry for His brother and I realized he had regretted his actions. I took him inside but out of nowhere

Zach had a seizure.

I ran to him and asked the doctor what was going on.

I was furious and at the same time I cried out in sorrow.

Christian was shocked.

"Do something doctor!" He yelled.

The doctor had told the nurses to keep us out of the ward. I wouldn't budge but Christian took me out forcefully and tried to console me.

"He'll be fine." He assured me even though he was holding on to a glimpse of hope.

The Nurse came to us with a consent form for surgery as he had sustained an internal injury which was not diagnosed on time.

Christian signed the form.

I watched them take him out of the ward into the operating room with tears in my eyes.

Every minute I prayed it should all end and get another chance to choose him over and over again.

Hours had gone when we got the news from the doctor that the surgery was successful.

I staggered. I crouched and wept out of joy.

"Thank you doctor." Christian had thanked the doctor.

For days I would leave the hospital for work and return after work hours..

This continued for days until he regained consciousness. That was a great relief even for the agency as they played their part to hide the whole extended predicament away from the public.

This was to avoid rancor or blogs gossip.

That very day I rushed home and prepared custard as it was part of the light dishes recommended by the doctor.

l got a text message on my way back to the hospital so I changed my direction.

I arrived at Christian's apartment and found him lifting his luggage into the car.

" Really?" I told him out of disappointment as l alighted from the car.

He stopped and looked at me.

"I'm sorry. I don't really have the courage to face you two again. I ruined everything. I was so stupid and selfish. I should have thought about your happiness." He apologized sincerely.

l exhaled."So where are you headed?" l enquired.

"Anywhere, far away. Maybe I will find love there." He replied jokingly and I smiled…

"What about the bar?" I enquired.

"I left someone incharge." He answered.

"Still worried about me?" He added. I smiled in return.

l arrived a bit late at the hospital. I offered him the meal I had prepared. That night we kissed repeatedly in the VIP ward and promised to always be there for each other.

It was dawn and yet I felt exhausted; Haven't had a good sleep in a while. But the bed was

empty. "Zach?".. I checked the bathroom and every part of the room. No one was there.

I walked out of the ward hoping to see him in the hallway; he was not there.

I rushed to the reception to meet with the nurses at the front office.

"Have you seen the patient at the VIP ward?" I demanded. Instead they acted dumb.

Suddenly, I heard the patients and nurses at the reception murmuring in awe.

I turned to see what was going on only to find a male patient wearing a nose mask on one knee.

I paused. It was obviously Zach. I marveled as he raised a ring.

"What are you doing?" I mumbled.

"Will you please do me the honor of becoming my wife? Marry me, Jọláadé." He confessed boldly.

All I heard the crowd chant was "Say yes"...

I smiled and muttered a "Yes'.

The crowd went crazy with jubilation.

I raised him and hugged him tightly.

"I Love you!" I whispered.

"I know." He added.

It was the biggest proposal of the season.

Were our lives back to normal and did we get the happily ever after kind of story?

Nevertheless in that very moment, it was a dream come true...

Was it really over or there's more to unveil?
