Chapter 4

Sophie shuddered all over. He was really dominating, but this was just the beginning.

Cedric lowered his head and kissed her. Sophie felt as if her mind had exploded. She failed to resist him and could only blush.

Cedric was truly a playboy who enjoyed flirting with women. She was powerless and could not resist him at all as soon as he made his move.

“You’re so easily defeated, huh? Heh.”

Cedric sneered mockingly before he extended his hand toward Sophie again. Sophie’s expression instantly changed.

“Jerk!”

“I’m sorry that you’re married to a jerk.”

“Let me go.”

“Why are you in such a hurry? I haven’t done it until you’re no longer angry.”

“No!”

The two were entangled for a long time. Sophie felt her heart grow even colder as she collapsed against the icy floor tiles.

Cedric bent over and looked at Sophie, who was lying on the ground, and said, “Grandpa is urging us to have a child every day. What should we do? I don’t want you to be pregnant because you don’t deserve to be pregnant with my child.”

He slammed the door shut as Sophie curled up into a ball. Although the pain had lessened, she still felt as if there was a sharp pain in her heart.

As she wiped her tears away, she wondered what she had done wrong to deserve such treatment from him.

Their marriage was decided upon by his grandfather. Why did he have to use such callous tactics and methods against her when she had never made him submit to her, even though she truly loved him?

Sophie was exhausted. She cried herself to sleep on the ground. It was already morning the next day when she woke up.

She looked around the empty room, held the wall to support herself up, and called her assistant, Linda Wellmore.

“Please bring me a change of clothes. I’ll send the address to you.”

Sophie contacted Linda again when Linda did not show up after she had waited for an hour. “Where are you?”

“Miss Sophie, something happened.”

Sophie’s body straightened immediately when she heard Linda’s tone. She said calmly, “Don’t be anxious. Tell me exactly what happened.”

“I was about to deliver your clothes to you when many shareholders suddenly appeared out of nowhere. They want to withdraw their capital from Luxford Group. Miss Sophie, the company is in chaos now.”

“Tell them to wait for me in the conference room. You can meet me at the parking lot with my clothes. I’ll be there in ten minutes.”

Sophie frowned after ending the call. Why would the shareholders suddenly want to withdraw their capital?

Sophie parked her car at the designated space in the parking lot ten minutes later. Linda came forward and handed Sophie her suit through the open car window.
