LISA
We both entered our various cars at the same time.
I turned sideways to look at him to meet him staring at me too, with a smug look in his eyes. He smirked at me at the same time the whistle went off and off he went.
The crowd cheered for him and I smirked before finally going off, allowing myself to go slow for the first few minutes while he had already raced off and was probably feeling himself and laughing at my stupidity for daring to challenge him.
Let's see who's stupid now.
I pressed down on the accelerator and off I went. I didn't even think, didn't think about meeting him and leaving him behind as the rush of adrenaline took over and over and excitement filled my entire body.
I've missed doing this.
I soon caught up with him and I glanced at him to see him glance at me too, mouth ajar with shock and despite our attempt to outrace each other, we remained in the same line, only outrunning each other for brief seconds at intervals.
I wasn't even surprised because I knew he was good but the surprise on his face at the fact that he couldn't leave me behind was too satisfying, it made me want to burst out laughing.
I pressed down on the accelerator as we neared the finish line and I...
I crossed it first.
Well, we crossed it at the same time.
I turned off the ignition and stepped out and I headed and did the same too, eyes completely dark and unlike when he was busy bowing and faking modesty.
I wanted to laugh out loud.
They never take losing easily, those bloody Ivanov men.
"Who won?" he demanded from the host who looked like he couldn't wrap his head around what just happened, June just like the crowd that had been completely stunned into silence.
I relaxed against the bonnet of the car and I crossed my hand over my chest.
"I think she did... Did... She did..." the host stuttered, "but it's nothing monument, it's just by 10 seconds and that's not enough seconds to term someone the winner."
"I won," I announced and he turned back to me, eyes seething with malice that'd have made someone else pee in their pants I pushed myself off the car to slowly start walking towards him, "it doesn't matter if it's 2 seconds or 5 seconds or 10 seconds, what matters is the fact that I won."
The corners of his lips twitched slightly and I could figuratively see the ideas forming in his head; how he was going to kidnap me later, how he was going to torture me and make me wish I'd never dared to challenge him and embarrass him like this. He thinks I don't have an idea who I'm fucking with but he's the one who doesn't have an idea who's fucking.
"How does it feel?" I asked, my voice low and taunting, "to lose to a girl?"
He snapped! I legit thought he was going to wrap his hands around my neck and yank my head off my body with the seething malice but dear Axel Ivanov remained oddly calm.
He exhaled loudly and he moistened his lower lips again.
"Yes, you won, congratulations," he complimented, wiping the smirk off my face.
"What's that? Are you trying to feel better after losing?"
"I'm going to wire the prize money to you now," he fished his phone out of his pocket, "if you'll tell me your account number."
What's this? What's this sudden resignation? It was totally unlike Axel, totally unlike someone that has Ivanov's blood coursing through his veins. How could I even gloat when he was so fucking civil about it?
"I asked you w question earlier," I repeated, "how does it feel to lose..."
"Stop!" he gritted out angrily and he managed to make me freeze for a brief second. His eyes darkened, his expression morphing into that of a predator about to rip his prey up.
"Stop. Trying. To. Rile. Me. Up."
I chuckled loudly. To his face.
And he shook his head before exhaling again. He must be picturing the kind of hell he was going to put me through, the kind of torture he was going to wreck on my body, how he was going to make me beg and plead with him to stop.
That was probably the only reason why he was being so civil about it right now.
But the picture was the only thing he could do, no way in hell happen.
And Ivanov's men were all full of shits. They play nice in public only to become the monsters that they are behind closed doors.
"So, your account details?" he held his phone up and started pressing it.
"Well, you can use it to inflate your burst ego, I don't need a dime from you."
His eyes darkened completely and he started to reach for me before he reminded himself to stop. I scoffed at him before turning back and walking away.
I've always thought coming up with complex cyber securities was satisfying but putting Axel Ivanov in his place?
That was so fucking gratifying.

"Wow, girl! What was that?" Tana wouldn't stop screaming minutes later.
The race ended and instead of going back to the hostel, she made us stop at a cafe.
She dropped her cup on the circular table with a low thud.
"Like, Lisa, how's that even possible? Where did you? How did you even know how to race that perfectly that you won over the almighty Axel?"
"Firstly, there's nothing almighty about him and secondly, I used to race before I entered college."
"So you're telling me the last time you raced was before our first year?"
"Yeah!"
"Wow!" her mouth dropped open, "and you're still that good to the point of beating Axel? That's no small feat. How come you've never raced then? How come you've never even attended a car racing event like this before if you use to race?"
"Well," I sighed, regretting the fact that I hoped on the challenge on impulse but putting Axel in his place made it worth it, "I sort of gave it up and today, it was more like I hoped on it on impulse. That's why I've never attended one before because I knew I'd never be able to withstand the temptation."
"I'm glad you were unable to because what? Girl! You're the most popular student in St. Williams now," she picked up her phone and started going through it, "everyone is talking about you and sending your pictures and just... You're now a celebrity. No one thought anyone could beat Axel, not to talk of a girl and you just..."
I tuned her out as I drowned the rest of my drink. I've always wanted to live in the shadows and now, just one encounter with that asshole had already shot me into the unwanted limelight.
Axel fucking Ivanov.
So fucking annoying.
AXEL"She's Lisa Volkov, the last daughter of the Volkov family.""Volkov?” I asked, rubbing my forehead as if that’d ease the headache I've been feeling since I set my eyes on her, “the same Volkov that I know?”“Of course,” Prince replied from the other side of the phone, “the same Volkov that we all know. But why did you ask me to run a background check on her picture? You guys attend the same school and...”“Tell me more about her,” I interrupted him.“Well, she attends your school, she's in her last year, and she's an IT genius...”“How come I never knew I was attending the same school as Lisa... With the daughter of a fucking enemy? Do you even know what that means? I could...” I sighed in exasperation and I gripped a part of my hair tightly as if I wanted to rip it off. I had no idea she was attending St. Williams but from the looks of things, she knew exactly who I was.Of course, I knew who exactly I'm fucking with.Fuck shit! She knew exactly who I was. She challenged me on
AXEL"You knew who I was, right?" I said immediately as I stepped in front of her. She stopped walking immediately, eyes narrowed with boredom. "That was why you pulled that little stunt back there.""I don't care that much about you to pull anything because of you."Her reply was curt, dismissive, as if I was totally unworthy of her time and it fueled my anger and fury even more. "You don't care that much about me?" I drawled, stepping close to dim the space between us. We were in a dark alleyway and the only source of light was from a yellow bulb a good distance away and it distinctly highlighted her facial features for me. Blank face.Bored eyes.Thin lips. And angry stance. As if she was just one step from murdering me.But she wasn't allowed to murder me. We weren't allowed to murder each other. Our families have been enemies for so long it was going to take only the slightest mistake for the families to launch into a full blown war."But you know me well enough to know that c
LISA “Lisa, can you just put the students out of their mysteries and continue dressing the way you did to the car racing game last week?” I took my sweet time swallowing what was in my mouth and drinking from my boba drink. We were out in Sweet Things, one of the most popular cafes in school and since we got there, students wouldn't stop staring at me. Just like they've not been able to stop staring at me since that game. I'd thought slipping back to my normal style would stop them from recognizing me but apparently, all this bagginess wasn't enough to hide the fact that I was the girl that whooped Axel Ivanov’s ass a week ago, and didn't I just enjoy it? I enjoyed putting Axel in his place, enjoyed seeing that defeated look on his face and I'd have loved it more if I had seen the look on his face when he got to know who I was. I wanted to see the disbelief and annoyance on knowing that the girl he had treated like a common slut, the girl he had proposed to fuck all night, my low
LISAYou're needed at home. The message from Angel was as simple as that but I understood perfectly what it meant. I understood the unsaid words in the message. You're needed to get rid of someone.I splashed water on my face before walking out of the bathroom. Luckily for me, Tana wasn't around so I was saved from explaining to her that I was going home. Not that I've ever had to explain to her before, I just tell her that I have to go home because of an impromptu and she'd never even tried to probe.Hey Tana, have to go home for an emergency, will be back tomorrow.I fired a quick test to her as I walked out of the hostel to meet the black Sedan packed outside on that spot where it was always packed and I opened the back door, stepped inside only to..."What are you doing here?" was the question that left my mind at the image of Angel sitting on the other side of the car."A pleasant evening to you too," she sassed without looking up from her MacBook as she pressed a button on the
LISAI ignored the eyes and greetings of the maids as I matched into dad's study. As expected, Angel was sitting there with Steff. And dad too."Good evening dad, good evening Steff.""Good evening daughter, you didn't tell us you'd be home t...""You're home." Dad and Angel said at the same time and I scoffed out loud.I turned to Steff."Steff, please call your wife to order."His eyes narrowed at my tone and he glanced briefly at his wife who was busy sipping from her coffee as if she did not have a fucking care in this world."Do have your seat, Lisa.""Dad, I'm not here to...""Have your seat."I sat down at his tone. I didn't dare question that."So, now explain like a rational human being, what happened?""Angel here," I tilted my head towards her at the same time dad interrupted me."If this has to do with the business, then you'd refer to her as your Copa."I saw Angel snicker and I scoffed."It doesn't really have to do with the business and she's not my copa.""She is.""
AXEL"So, lemme get this straight, Lisa Volkov whooped your ass." Prince taunted while sitting in my kitchen and drinking my coffee."Prince, if you should as much mention the L in Lisa, I'm going to throw you out of my house."The reply I got from the bastard was a taunting chuckle."So she really beat you at your own game? Wow! I mean, I wasn't expecting any less from someone with her level of skill."I poured myself a cup of Coffee and settled opposite him on the kitchen island."But how come I never knew she was attending my school?""Do you even know about her existence?""Of course not, you said it yourself, the two daughters of the family are kept away from the public eye but they fooled us all by making us think they were raising them to be mafia princesses, not bloody assassins that'd take a life without a second thought.""Good that you know that.""But you're in charge of my security Prince, we should have known that she was attending my school.""What if I knew?" he threw
AXELI entered the dimly lit room in the basement with fans blowing heat and slightly obscuring the only source of light in the room at intervals. The guys bowed as a sign of respect as I walked from the entrance to where they had tied our guy up, arms together above his head and legs barely touching the ground. They'd prepped him well enough with the way he was panting and the way blood was gushing out from cuts all over his body.Good! Just like the way I like it.I stopped in front of him."Hello there, Mr. Sinclair," I greeted with my most polite voice, and his eyes, with a very ghastly cut on one of them fluttered open, "fancy seeing you here.""You bastard," he gritted out, blood, saliva, mucus, and all."No no no," my lips stretched into a teasing smile, "I don't think we've gotten to that part where you get to call me a bastard."I started circling him slowly as if I was checking out a piece of meat on the slabber with my index finger slowly drumming on my lower lip."And talk
LISA"Damn girl, this is the body you've been hiding from everyone? Girl, this is what we call hot girl summer, just look at you, I'd kill to be in a body like yours.""God Tana, you're hot, have you seen you?""I know I'm hot," she struck a pose that made her curves prominent, "but looks at yourself, this is Kim K and Bad girl Riri rolled in one body.""God!" my lips stretched into a smile that soon gave way into a chuckle, "you overhype wat too much.""I'm not overhyping you girl, you look like a total badass, I'm just... You'll see, we just need to get to the party and you'll see the number of heads you'll turn, all those men gotta be tripping.""Well," I sassed and stared at my reflection, I was all curves, perfect tits, flat tummy, perfect body, and the swimsuit I was wearing was doing a very good job revealing just how perfect my body is."Ready?""Sure."A couple of minutes later, we were walking into the pool party where loud music was blaring from the speaker, and there were
