Audrey stared at Keith unable to believe her ears "Keith what are you doing?" she grinned, but Keith was less interested in whatever she was saying.
He had his eyes fixed on Lindsey eagerly waiting for her reply.
"Me?" Lindsey asked pointing to herself.
"I can't, I'm really sorry, but I can't fit into your bride's shoe" Lindsey declined, letting out a weird laugh.
"Yeah, that's right, she's just a local event planner and your mum won't even approve of it" Audrey chipped in.
"How about 20,000 USD, do you now fit into her shoes?" Keith asked.
Lindsey gulped down, the money could really come in handy, she glanced at Audrey and meet her staring deeply at her.
Audrey’s stare made Lindsey cringe, she wouldn't understand the exact reason Audrey was staring deeply at her but she know it wasn't good at all.
"I'm just an event planner and journalist so I can't_" Lindsey was saying when Audrey cut in.
"Don't pretend as if you don't want the offer" Audrey began making Lindsey glance at her.
"Keith is every woman's dream and I believe you are not an exception so grab the offer, while it's still available" Audrey snapped.
Lindsey stared from her to Keith, yeah no doubt, Keith was rich, handsome and a total spec but he wasn't crushing on him like Audrey was making it look.
"$50,000" Keith was getting impatient, the ceremony already began and soon it will get to the part of him introducing and engaging his fiance.
"Fine, but I'm doing it for the money and not because of any sort of crush" Lindsey stared at Audrey.
"Yeah right," Audrey rolled her eyes.
Georgina sat uncomfortably not knowing what to do, "She's not answering," Thalia said looking at her phone.
Georgina turned to stare at Sophia’s parents, they appeared not to be aware that their daughter was missing.
"What are we going to do mother?, we can't possibly cancel the event," Thalia said.
"Gosh, I should have gone for a better family, with a good reputation to protect not a good-for-nothing family like the hales" Georgina lamented but it was already too late to change the past.
"Should I_" Thalia stopped staring at Keith who walked into the podium looking lavishly, beside him was a woman wearing a white long dress, her black hair was packed in a Disney princess style.
The guests all stood up clapping while the paparazzi rushed towards the podium to get a clear picture of Keith and his bride.
"Who is that?" Georgina asked, her eyes meeting with Sophia’s mum, Mrs. Hales who gave her a ‘what's going on here kind of look’.
"I don't know but she's saving the day, I think we should just let everything flow, and then after the event, who would figure out who she is" Thalia suggested feeling relieved.
Georgina nodded her head, but Mrs. Hales wasn't finding the whole thing funny as she walked up to Georgina clutching her bag tightly.
"Can we talk about this later, or maybe in a more private place, the paparazzi are here and our family can't afford a scandal now" Georgina pleaded not allowing Mrs. Hales to talk.
"I don't care about your family Georgina," Mrs. Hales said addressing her by her first name which was disrespectful.
Georgina stared at her and called security to walk her out quietly but Mrs. Hales started creating a fuss, drawing a lot of attention to them.
"Who is that lunatic?"
"I thought this was a closed event, who let her in?"
"I haven't seen her face before, whose wife is she?"
"The Winslow family do have a lot up their sleeves"
Those were the murmur coming from the guests as they watched the security guard drag, Mrs. Hales, out, Mr. Hales, on the other hand, walked out respectively immediately after Keith came out with a different lady who wasn't his daughter.
Audrey watched with keen interest as a smile sprayed through her lips.
"I'm so sorry for that, Can we please continue the event?" Georgina asked smiling.
She was going to meet the Hales family later, but for now, she needs to save her family from shame.
The events continued and Lindsey officially became Keith's fiance, The press was particularly interested in knowing more about her but the Winslow family turned down all interview requests and the party ended earlier than speculated.
Lindsey woke up to her buzzing phone the following morning, she mumbled covering her head with the pillow but that wasn't enough to reduce the noise.
"Hello" She answered the call without looking at the caller ID.
"So much for an event planner huh?" Katherine her step mum sneered.
Lindsey lowered the phone to look at the caller ID and rolled her eyes.
"Good Morning"
'So, why didn't you inform any member of the family that you were getting engaged, I spoke to you yesterday Lindsey and you didn't mention anything to me," Katherine said.
"Wait, how did you_"
"The internet, of course, I received a thousand calls asking if it was true and why I wasn't at the party" Katherine replied even before Lindsey could finish her statement.
"Which internet?" She ended the call immediately.
She wasn't feeling sleepy anymore, she smirked seeing the number of missed calls she had.
She ignored it and logged into her I*******m account.
The first picture she saw was that of her and Keith, same goes for the next pictures she saw. "Oh no"
After the whole party the previous night, Lindsey and Keith had explained everything that happened to Georgina, who in return promised Lindsey that they were going to buy off the paparazzi and make sure no pictures get out.
Lindsey went to her profile and was dazed at the number of followers she got.
"Nine hundred thousand+ followers" she yelled,
She couldn't believe her eyes, it was barely twenty-four hours and her followers already increased from eighty-four to nine hundred thousand+.
The last picture she posted got more than a thousand likes and congratulatory comments plus a few bad comments.
A message notification popped up, Lindsey clicked it open, the message was from Leen, her best friend, ‘So much for friendship Lindsey, you only know I'm your friend when things go downhill and now you are getting engaged, you didn't even care to invite me, Good for you but I'm not sending a congratulatory message to you’
"Gosh, I really have a lot of explanation to do" Lindsey breathed out.
"The Winslow family couldn't even keep their promise, I just hope they pay my money" Lindsey said as she replied to Leen's text.
Her phone buzzed again, it was her mum calling.
"Hi, Young Mrs. Winslow" Angela was the first to speak.
"Don't call me that"
"Why darling?"
"Because I'm not Mrs . Winslow, Angela, and why are you suddenly calling me, the last I checked you blocked me and told me not to contact you ever again, I'm correct?"
"You don't need to be harsh about it, Don't I have the right to congratulate my daughter, Oh Lindsey, I knew you had high taste in men, Good catch" Angela smiled.
"Angela, I don't know what you've heard or seen but sorry to be a show spoiler because is going on, I agree to that crap because of the debt you incurred on me so don't even try_"
"You haven't paid that up, well you don't need to worry, I mean you have Keith and he_"
"Shut it Angela, which part of, nothing is going, don't you understand huh, please stop calling me, I have a lot of things to deal with" Lindsey ended the call.
It wasn't even up to a minute after, her phone began to ring again, Lindsey yelled and quickly switched off her phone before tossing it aside.
She laid down covering herself up with the duvet thinking of what next to do but she couldn't think of anything.
Lindsey had longed wanted to get public attention, be a popular actress, stand in front of the camera, get lots of followers, and all that but now she was exhausted.
This wasn't the way she imagined it and she didn't know the kind of explanation to give to her family and friends, for not inviting them to an engagement party that wasn't even hers.
The knock on the door interrupted her, Lindsey got up slid into her flipflop and headed downstairs.
The knock increased making Lindsey anxious, she peeped through the door hole before opening the door.
"I got your text," Leen said walking into the house.
"You are lucky the reporters don't know your house address yet, you would have seen a lot of them here"
"Yeah, thanks to the fact, I don't post with location" Lindsey replied grabbing a bottle of water, she gulped everything down while Leen looked at her.
"How much did he offer?"
"$50,000, you don't expect me to say no to such an offer"
"Judging from your debt issues, I don't, that's a lot of money," Leen said.
"Have any of them called you this morning?"
"I got a couple of missed calls, but I didn't check whom they were from, almost everyone was calling, my step-siblings, my step mum, my enemies, even Angela called me, so I had to switch off my phone"
"Your mum?"
"Yeah, which was very strange, she's not even in New York so how did she know, it's as if she's keeping tabs on me"
Leen burst into laughter "The internet is worldwide Lindsey, besides she's your mum so it's normal for her to keep tabs on you" Leen said.
"Where's the ring thou?, it must be expensive, show me pleaseeee"
"I returned it, I'm not his fiance so why keep it"
"Oh, that's true, but I think you should switch off your phone and_"
They both looked towards the door and then looked at themselves.
"Are you expecting someone?" Leen whispered.
"No, I think is the reporters, they must have followed you, " Lindsey said.
"I know you are in there Ms. Ro ach, your car is right here".
"Keith?"
"what are you doing here?" Lindsey asked immediately he opened the door. "Can I come in?, you wouldn't want people to see us like this" Keith said. Lindsey sighed opening the door widely for him to enter. "So, how did you know my house? And most importantly why are you here?" Lindsey asked. Keith looked from the blonde-haired lady, who couldn't take her eyes off him, and then to Lindsey "Mother wants to see, she asked I bring you to the villa immediately" Keith said. Lindsey chuckled "Why?, your family couldn't keep the promise of not posting the pictures on the Internet and now your mother wants to see me, what for?""Actually, that's the reason she sent for you, I really don't have all day, Ms. Roach, I think we should get going," Keith said glancing at his wristwatch. Lindsey looked at Leen as if asking her if she should go, Leen nodded her head, approving of it. "And our $50,000 deal?" Lindsey asked folding her arms. "I sent that to you this morning, Didn't you receive the
"I would advise you don't listen to my mother," Keith said, they were packed inside Lindsey’s compound. Lindsey didn't say anything as her eyes were focused on a black highlander packed beside her Audi A4."Did you hear me?" Keith asked, but still didn't receive any response, he followed her eyes and they landed on the car. "Your boyfriend is here," Lindsey blinked her eyes turning towards him. "Thanks for the ride Mr. Winslow and just so you know, I have no interest in you so I would appreciate it if your family call off the engagement as soon as possible, Goodbye," Lindsey said and immediately alighted from the car. Keith was stunned, was she being proud and feeling full of herself because of Georgina’s request? He rolled his eyes driving out of the compound, he never want to be caught in another picture with her. Lindsey opened her door only to meet Leen together with Chace. "I'm getting a lot of uninvited guests lately" Lindsey commented closing her door behind her. "Now I
Lindsey sat in her office staring into thin air, she was thinking of what to do but her head was blank, no idea was coming up aside from calling Georgina. "Oh God, ten years, I have worked so hard for ten years and I can't just sit and watch everything go down just like that" Lindsey lamented, she grabbed her bag and took out Georgina's card and made to call the number but then Keith's word flashed through her memory. "No... No, I can't do this" She dropped her phone, and just then her office door yanked open and Ashley walked in with a worried face. "What?" Lindsey raised a brow at her. "Errm, I don't really know how to say this but_" Ashley paused, showing Lindsey her phone. She took the phone from Ashley and froze immediately. "Who wrote this?" Lindsey asked getting curious. "It was uploaded anonymously and the reporters are outside probably waiting for you," Ashley said each word looking at Lindsey. "What?, Who let them in?" Lindsey rushed to her window, they were already inside
Lindsey stared into thin air after going through her phone, she had visited the photo studio with Keith after the contract was finalized and the pictures they took together were flying through social media. She heard her door open and turned it was Leen and her mother. "Please not now" Lindsey sneered closing her eyes. "I'm glad you took my advice, see you have 2.5 million followers," Angela said showing Lindsey her phone but she wasn't interested. "Congrats darling, I'm going to be the bridesmaid to the fifth richest man in the city," Leen said giving Lindsey a big hug. "It's just a fake wedding and it's going to be a private event so_," Lindsey said finally opening her eyes. "Private what? Hell no, I won't let that happen" Angela said, Lindsey glanced at her "You don't have a choice do you?" Lindsey asked. "I do, I am the bride's mother and Nancy is having a big wedding which you are planning and you want to have a private wedding, hell no, that's not going to happen," Angela sa
Four Days Later. The very day everyone was waiting for was finally here, reporters were present busy interviewing the guest trying to get the biggest news to break the internet with. The event hall was beautifully decorated with flowers and colourful light bulbs. Inside the bridal waiting room, Lindsey sat down alongside Leen who was her maid of honour and other bridal maids. They were busy capturing the beautiful moments in pictures which were going to last for a long time. The bridal awaiting room swung open and Audrey walked in, she was putting on a white long gown with a slit which passed her kneel. She had a big smile on her face and one would think she was the bride. "Tiana asked to see you all at the rehearsal room," Audrey said looking at Lindsey and then at Leen. "I already learnt my part, they can go," Leen said sitting tightly while the other bridal maids walked out of the room immediately. Audrey chuckled staring at her. "Why?, Do you think I would hurt your friend,
Audrey's lips curved in a smile "Too bad, that ain't gonna happen" she puffed some air into the wind and turned to Chace "nothing is going to stop this wedding but it sure going to be a wedding to remember for everyone especially Georgina" Audrey added. Chace scoffed staring at her. "Then it's no deal, I intend to stop the marriage and I'm going to do it my own way even if it means killing the groom to achieve it" Audrey's eyes widened and she quickly shook her head knocking off the silly thoughts her subconscious were feeding her with. She glanced at Chace who was walking beside her "hope you've got no weapons there" Audrey asked trying to be sure if someone was going to die today then it would be Lindsey, not her Keith. "No, my presence is enough to ruin everything" he boasted making Audrey snicker. If only he knew his presence won't do much than leaving a mark that Georgina could easily wipe off with money, he wouldn't be so full of himself. "He's with me, I just found out he's Ke
Georgina paced around the room thinking of what next to do she has never been in such a tight situation before "How was she going to face the press after the show Mrs. Hales and Chace just put up" she hit her hand forcefully on the table and gritted. The door yanked open and Keith dashed in followed by Thalia. "Why did you leave?, Who did you leave the mess you and Lindsey created for?" Keith growled, Georgina walked towards him and gave him a resounding slap"Mother" Thaila tried Stopping her but she flashed her a fierce glance which sent chills down her body, she kept quiet giving the mother and son time for themselves. Keith held his cheeks staring deeply at his mother " If you had found a better woman to be your wife, I wouldn't have tried finding one for you, instead you choose that gold digger" Georgina yelled. "And who said Audrey isn't a better wife, for all I know she's a million times better than Sofia and Lindsey and she would always_" Georgina landed another slap on Keith
Audrey turned hearing the gasps from the guests, she froze at the spot staring at Keith and Lindsey. She sniffed trying to hide the tears clustered in her eyes but she couldn't as a tear dropped. She quickly wiped it off. She looked around making sure that no one saw her before she stomped out of the wedding hall. Keith finally broke out of the kiss and stared at him Lindsey's flushed face. She looked surprised and was wondering why he had kissed her. The guests all clapped and cheered as they walked back to their seats. Hours later, the wedding reception came to an end as each guest congratulated them giving them a wedding gift before leaving. The Winslow family were no exception, Georgina bought a brown new car for Lindsey and Chairman Winslow gave them a one-month luxurious honeymoon in Paris. The wedding was an eventful one and was the talk of the town, the reporter uploaded all details on the internet including the scandal Chace and Mrs. Hales created. Keith and Winslow arrive
