Tracey's POV
I took a glance at the report. Probability of paternity: 0.0000% !Lucas had a hard time processing this fact. He grabbed the person in charge and barked at his face, "No! There must be something wrong with the test!" Then he pointed at Nathan and roared, "Look at him! He looks just like me! He must be my son!"The person in charge stepped back and said, "Sir, we are a very reputable agency. We are fully responsible for the result of the test." "But that boy is my son!" Lucas growled.I said, "Leave that poor gentleman alone before he calls for the police. You're paranoid and hysterical right now, Lucas. Take the report and go away." Lucas turned back and pressed me against the wall. "You! It must be you! You're the one who's behind everything!" He stared at me with anger. We were so close that it reminded me of what happened on that night before I left.I could tell that he was thinking of the same thing."You're a nymph. What have you done to the test? What have you done to me? That boy is my son. You know better than anyone else!" As he was speaking, his voice got low and he got even more closer."Are you kidding me?" I said in a cold voice. "I'm not a witch. I can't just wave my magic wand and change the test result.""You...!"I saw a mixture of passion and hatred in my ex-husband's eyes. For a brief moment, I thought he was about to strangle me.Jessica stepped in and pulled Lucas back, "Lucas, I know you want a child and it kills me that I can't give you a child because of my pre-existing health condition. The doctor told me that I'm well on my way to recovery. Please let go of Tracey now. Nathan is her son..."Lucas grabbed Jessica's shoulders, shook her violently, and shouted at her, "No, you don't understand! Nathan is my son!"At that time, Nathan, accompanied by a nurse, walked into the room. When he saw the farce between Lucas and Jessica, he pulled the hem of my blouse."Mommy, is Lucas going to kill Jessica?" Nathan asked in a terrified voice. As much as I enjoyed this circus show, I picked Nathan up in my arms and said, "Maybe, but that's no longer our concern."Then, I walked out of the room."What did you do to the test sample, Nathan?" After I got into the taxi, I asked. "After the nurse swiped my mouth with a cotton bud and put it in a tube, I told her that I wanted something to drink. When she left the room to fetch water, I swapped my cotton bud with the one I found in the trash bin!" Nathan said with a giant smile on his face."Why did you do it?" I asked. Nathan leaned against my chest and said in a soft voice, "I don't like Lucas. I can tell you don't like him, either. I don't want him to be my father. I want to stay with mommy." I didn't say anything but looked outside the window. "Mommy, are you sad now? Did I do something wrong?" Nathan said. "No, my darling. You've done the right thing. It's just..." "Don't worry, mommy. I will protect you! I won't let anyone hurt you!" Nathan said. Tears were circulating in my eyes. My baby boy was so young, yet he was so smart and brave. I would do everything to protect him from that asshole Lucas....The next morning, I walked into Goldgem Tower, which was the HQ of my father's company. When my father was alive, he owned the largest company in town. If I hadn't got married to Lucas, I would have already taken over from him and who knows, I might have already become the most influencial businesswoman in the country. When I pushed the door of my father's office, I saw my uncle Hans Stewart sitting on my father's executive chair. He was in a cranky mood, and he didn't look very happy to see me."Tracey, you were supposed to be here yesterday. Where the hell have you been?""I got caught up with something, Uncle Jacob.""Call me Mr. Stewart like everyone else does." My uncle said in a stern voice. "We're going public next year. I don't want anyone to think that I'm running a family-owned business." "What?!" I was shocked. "But when my father was alive, he specifically told me that we should never go public..." "But he's no longer with us, isn't he?" My uncle said with a dark look on his face. "Now that I have taken over from him, everything has to be done my way. Being his one and only daughter, you have to take up the responsibility to show your unwavering loyalty to me, so to keep all of our investors confident and pampered. Are you with me or not?" I was in doubts, but I didn't want to disappoint my uncle. So I cleared my throat and said, "I am with you, uncle... I mean, Mr. Stewart. But I checked the balance sheet before I came here, and I found some numbers just didn't match..." "It's all because of your father. He wasn't right here before he passed away." My uncle tapped his head with his finger and said in a low voice. "Now that I've taken over, I have to deal with his mess. And the solution that I've come up is... Well, you have to go talk to Jerry Fisher. He's one of our most powerful investors. Make sure that he signs this contract tonight."My uncle threw a folder on the table. I picked it up in silence. My uncle had a very special way of conduct to belittle others without raising his voice. It reminded me of my father."I will see to it, Mr. Stewart. But before that, I just need to ask you something about my father's death. I still haven't received his death certificate..." "Enough!" My uncle stood up from the chair and stared down at me. "Liam's dead now. And now we have to focus on moving on with our lives. Everyone has their own way of dealing with grief, but you shouldn't let useless sentiment cloud your judgement!"I was shocked by his sudden burst of anger. Having detected my fear, he changed into a more softened voice and said, "I know you miss your father. I miss him as well. He was a good mentor to me. He told me to take care of you before he passed away. That's what I'm doing right now. I'm giving you a chance to save our comapny. And when you come back with a 300-million-dollar contract, you'll be the heroine to our company. And that will be the time that I can fully entrust you with the responsibilty of succeeding your father's legacy.""Thank you, Mr. Stewart," I whispered. "You look pale. You need to eat something. How's your son, by the way? Nathanial? Is it? Have you found him a new father?""Nathan doesn't need a father," I replied. My uncle grunted with discontent, "Everybody needs a father. If his biological father is a jerk, you need to find him another one. It's very important for a boy to have a strong, powerful father figure in his life. Or else they will end up being two-bit punks on the streets. Are you seeing anyone recently? Do you need me to set you up with someone? Because I've got some great candidates." "No, please don't do that, Mr. Stewart. I am capable of raising this child on my own. I won't let you down." I said and walked out of the office. Why was my uncle so defensive about my father's death? I dialed a number."Darren, I'm back. I need your help. It's about my father's death..."Tracey's POVJerry Fisher. This fucking name rings a bell, but I just can't remember who he is.But when I walked into the VVIP lounge in the trendiest nightclub in town, I immediately recognized the bold, short, sturdy man sitting on the sofa, surrounded by two almost half-naked women.Jerry Fisher was one of my craziest suitors before I got married to my husband. He was literally stalking me everywhere I went. It was kind of creepy. No wonder his name sounded familiar."Tracey Stewart! Oh, mine! It's really you!" Jerry exclaimed while pushing away the two women. "When Jacob told me you were back, I couldn't believe it! I mean, look at you! Nine years have passed, but you haven't changed a bit! What have you been drinking? Fountain of youth?"I was about to say something, but he turned to the two girls and continued, "You girls are too young to know anything about the magical Tracey Stewart. She was just like you two. Cheerleader, homecoming queen, social influencer. But one day, she
Tracey's POV"Yeah, of course, I've got a boyfriend. I'm not a fucking nun! And you know what? He's the father of my son Nathan! And if you don't stop treating me like this right now, I'll fucking sue you and get a restraining order on you!"Lucas looked lost and frustrated. There were flames in his eyes.I hadn't seen him being mad like this. Not even for once.As I was trying to break away from him, he pulled me back."How dare you say something like this in front of me? Are you trying to insult me? Let your imaginary boyfriend sue me. I don't care. Nathan is my son and I don't give a fuck what the paternity test says. Do not ever say something like that to me again, woman. Do not try to cross me! Do you understand?!" Lucas held my shoulders and shook me passionately.I said, "Stop being obsessed with me! I'm not your property, and Nathan is my son, not yours. The sooner you figure this out, the better off for both of us."Lucas wasn't at all listening. He was consumed by his anger
Tracey's POV"Seriously?" Jessica raised her eyebrows, gloating while walking into the lounge. " Both Mr. Fisher and I know who you are. Being the only daughter of a multi-billionaire, Miss Stewart must be kidding with us."Jerry Fisher smirked and said, "I have to agree with Miss Waddingham. Your father's net worth was 4 billion before he passed away. Don't tell me that he hadn't left you with anything. You have to pay for this bottle of cognac, Miss Stewart."Aren't these two complement each other? I thought to myself. They would certainly be the most repugnant couple in the world.Noticing my awkward silence, Jessica placed a hand over her forehead and said, "If you go apologize to Mr. Fisher and please him, he might forget about this incident. After all, Mr. Fisher is a very generous man."Lucas walked inside and saw the mess on the ground. He remained silent.Jerry Fisher was drunk. He didn't even seem to notice Lucas. He grabbed my arm and pulled me against him. Then, he pinched
Lucas' POVI had never seen Tracey walking like that when she got out.She has always walked in a very lady-like way, but on that day, she was almost staggering. Is she drunk? No way. I used to see her drinking with her bride's maids on our wedding night. Everyone ended up being drunk, but somehow she was the only one who remained sober. That woman is a walking miracle.I didn't know what had happened to me, but being stuck in this suffocating VVIP lounge, I felt particularly missing her.I missed her slim figure. Who could ever believe that she had pushed a baby out of such a tiny body?I missed her beautiful green eyes. They were always full of witty sparkles and only occasionally filled with anger or tears because of me.She was angry because of me. She cried for me. For me and only me.I used to own that woman. She was completely mine. What kind of idiot am I to let such a perfect woman run away from me? I really wished I could hold her in my arms and rip off her clothes, and...W
Tracey's POVLaura?! Did he fucking just mistake me with his high school sweetheart?!How could he...?!I pushed him away and jumped off the bed, crossing my arms while looking at him with hatred in my eyes. After all these years, he still couldn't forget about Laura!I had to grab my own wrists, so I wouldn't smash his head with a lamp or something.I went to the bathroom and took a cold shower to calm me down. But as soon as I went back to the bedroom and saw Lucas' face, my skin felt boiling again.Damn, he looked so good when he lay on the bed half-consciously like this. What a body. What a flawless face. What a huge chunk of..."Laura..." He murmured, stretching out his arm toward me.Seriously?! Again?! Just when I was about to forgive you because you look so enticing?!I picked up the lamp.He suddenly wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me into his arms."I miss you so much... I shouldn't have let go of you. Please don't go away. Please stay with me. Please, Tracey..."
Tracey's POV"Well, about that," I approached Jessica and lowered my voice, "You'll never know."Then, I glanced at the paparazzi and said, "Make sure you take the pictures and post them online. The clock is ticking and subpoenas are pending."After that, I walked out of the room like a champ.-The next morning, I was having breakfast with Nathan when the doorbell rang.I opened the door and saw a tall, strong man standing outside.I saw it was Darren, the PI I hired to investigate my father's mysterious death. He used to be a senior in my college and we've stayed in touch for years."Tracey, I've been calling you all night..." Darren looked concerned."Darren!" Nathan jumped up and threw himself at him.Darren picked him up with one hand and carried him on his shoulder."Well, you've put on some weight, little cub. What has mommy been feeding you?" He smiled at my son."Lots of love!" Nathan giggled, clung to Darren like a little sloth, and refused to come down."I'm glad that you c
Tracey's POV"What do you mean that my son is gone?!" My mind went blank."I'm at his school! But his teacher said that they couldn't find him anywhere!""What do you mean that they can't find him?! Have they checked everywhere?!""I'm going through the trash bins now... There's trash everywhere... The teachers are shouting at me. And I don't know what to do!" Joan was crying hysterically.I have to stay calm. I told myself. So I cleared my voice and said, "Listen, Joan. My son is smart. He always knows what he is doing. He can take care of himself. Now, get out of the trash bin and stay with the teachers. Do not go anywhere. Don't talk to anyone."After I hung up on her, I switched on the app that tracked Nathan's smartwatch. And the blinking dot pinpointed Nathan's location in...Standard Genome Tower?!My son is in Lucas' company right now?!My world collapsed.Did he wake up at the hotel and see that I had gone, then he decided to abduct my son?!How dare he?!Nathan's POVDaddy's
Tracey's POV"Miss, you are not allowed to get in there..." The security guards at Standard Genome Tower tried to block my way."I need to see Lucas Plarre right now!" I ignored them and kept walking in."Everyone wants to see Mr. Plarre, but they have to take a number and wait.""He took away my son. That means I don't need to take a fucking number. If you don't go up there and tell him to take my son down right now, I will set this damn building on fire and flame him out." I said in a calm and controlled voice, so nobody on the site would think that I was joking."We'll have to call for the police now, Miss.""Yeah, do it right now before I call them. I'll see how Lucas Plarre explains why my son is at his possession." I stared at those security guards while taking out my mobile phone. My ex-husband's personal assistant appeared and exclaimed, "Miss Stewart! Thank goodness that you're here! I was about to call you! Please come with me! I'll take you upstairs. Mr. Plarre is waiting f
