Chapter Fourteen

I remembered falling asleep on Alaric’s chest after fixing me, his arms around my petite body. The lingering feeling of warmth and protection stayed even after he got up, making me giddy. His side of the bed was still warm, it means he just got up and do some errands.

Last night I saw another side of Alaric. The way he held me on our date and the way he comforts me, lulling me to sleep.

He had said that he found Lena and in the hospital nursing a mild concussion. I felt guilty. I should have been the one in her place, not the other way around. Why can’t they just leave me alone? Why hunt me to the end of the world? Roman doesn’t even love me to begin with.
