Chapter 22 - I wish you could be the first person I could see
Marie was stunned and uneasy as her sight was drawn to his hands. She forcedly shut her eyes when she saw his hand move. She was so terrified waiting for him to stab the knife into her body that she even held her breath out of fear. Her skin was sweating cold while waiting.
"What’s happening?" Her mind asked her. She felt his finger slide through his ear, tucking a few strands of her hair behind. She could feel his warm breath in her ear and heard him ask, "relax! I’m not going to kill you. Have you ever forgotten that you are my best friend?"
She gently blinked her eyes open, realizing she was still alive. "Am I not dreaming? I—I’m still alive!" She murmured when she noticed Stephen had moved one inch closer to her. His lips twitched into a curve.
She looks at his hands, which are holding a piece of cutlery, and he moves his hand to offer her a seat to dine with him.
