Chapter 5

Ackerly found himself with no other recourse but to acquiesce to the directive of his ex-mate's, despite the fact that the Alpha had previously spurned him in the course of events.

The palpitations of the young man's heart were a testament to the excitement that coursed through his veins. In the confines of his workplace, he exudes an air of fortitude and fearlessness.

There was nothing illegal about the Alpha and Beta orders that was given. He found himself among the pack of doctors and nurses. Having obtained his license, he had spent a year working in a hospital that catered to the needs of his own species. He stood poised to embark upon his labor.

Though he was not yet a fully qualified medical doctor, he remained steadfast in his pursuit of knowledge and expertise. With each passing day, he studied diligently, determined to achieve his goal. He knew that the road ahead would be long and arduous, but he remained resolute in his conviction that he would one day reach his destination.

Becoming a full-fledged Doctor was his heart's desire, but the path to achieving it was not without obstacles. His parents, driven by their own aspirations, had other plans for him. They envisioned him as a strong Alpha, and thus, were not keen on allowing him to pursue his dream. Nonetheless, he remained steadfast in his resolve to study hard and gain the necessary experience to become a Doctor.

"Hello there, Acker. May I request your assistance with these specimens?" As soon as one of Ackerly's colleagues uttered a few words, he became aware of his own thoughts. Ackerly was among the Pack Doctor's trio of assistants. They held the responsibility of overseeing the she-wolves who had willingly offered themselves to delve into the root of the infertility issue.

With a nod from Ackerly, Katty agreed to delegate some of the more challenging cases to him.

In a mere week's time, he had already forged a deep emotional bond with Katherine. Katherine is a diligent assistant to the Pack Doctors, working closely alongside him in his endeavors. Ackerly breathed a sigh of relief, grateful that his friend was cognizant of his sexual orientation and embraced him for his true self.

As Katty entered the laboratory, she found him already inside, immersed in his work. He delves into the intricacies of the she-wolves' blood, scrutinizing every detail with a keen eye. The Facility's inhabitants are the subject of his intense scrutiny, as he seeks to uncover the secrets hidden within their veins.

The study of she-wolf diets is currently underway, with the aim of unraveling the mystery behind the barrenness of Pack females. Ackerly was acutely aware that a mere six months had passed since the onset of the she-wolves' infertility, yet the gravity of the situation was not lost on him. He knew that if they could only unravel the mystery behind this affliction and find a cure, the impact would be nothing short of profound.

"Acker," Katty said, her voice tinged with a hint of concern, "do you not possess a soul mate of your own? Perhaps you have not been giving him your undivided attention, as your duties and obligations in our midst have been occupying your thoughts and efforts." Ackerly was caught off guard when the lady posed her question seemingly out of thin air.

As he released his grip on the microscope and lowered his eyeglass, Katty materialized before him.

Gritting his teeth, he fixed his gaze upon Katty. He explains, "I had no one waiting for me at home because I was rejected before I could start working at the facility."

Katty was taken aback by his words and couldn't help but burst out laughing. At first, she believed Ackerly to be jesting, but as she beheld the sincerity in his countenance, the woman lapsed into a hushed silence.

With only two figures occupying the vast expanse of the laboratory, their words were shrouded in secrecy, their voices reduced to mere whispers that fell upon no ears but their own. With unwavering conviction, Ackerly delivered his statement to the lady, his faith in her abilities unshakeable.

"I am serious," Ackerly uttered.

"Who in this vast world has had the audacity to reject you, Ackerly? The sheer magnificence of your being is truly awe-inspiring. Such an act could only be attributed to a person of unsound mind. Moreover, irrespective of his personal sentiments towards you, his reaction cannot be deemed as a form of dismissal," Katty angrily said.

As soon as Ackerly made his confession, the lady's countenance fell into a deep frown once she had regained her composure.

With a gentle yet firm touch, she rested her hand on his waist, as if silently admonishing the one who had dared to reject Ackerly. She appeared to be an elder sibling, dutifully looking after her younger brother.

'It is your Alpha!' Ackerly felt a retort bubbling up inside him, but he thought better of it and opted to hold his tongue.

Ackerly nonchalantly lifted his shoulders before uttering his words. He spoke with conviction, his words leaving no room for argument. "The past is behind us, unchangeable. My focus now is solely on completing this research and liberating the city from this territory," he declared firmly. He spared no effort in ensuring that his departure from the city would be a seamless affair.

Ackerly pondered the notion that if the Research in question was indeed the root cause of the Alpha's hesitance to release him, then it was imperative that he confront the matter without delay. Amidst the dire circumstances, this singular element remains his sole source of hope.

Katty's unwavering focus on him gave the impression that she possessed the ability to discern his innermost thoughts and emotions. As the man spoke, the woman could sense the anguish in his voice, yet she remained powerless to alleviate his suffering.

The source of his pain eluded her, leaving her feeling helpless and uncertain of how to provide solace. She hesitated to inquire, particularly as she could discern his discomfort each time the subject arose.

With a smile, Katty deftly changed the subject, much to Ackerly's delight. The lady seemed content to let her thoughts rest, without any further probing questions.

"Can you tell me what you think about our current situation?" Ackerly was startled by the woman's words.

"Although I am sterile, I am helping in the research for a treatment or medication that will enable my partner to have a pup." Though her countenance remained stoic, her eyes betrayed a deep yearning for offspring.

Ackerly found himself at a loss for words as he gazed upon Katty's tear-streaked face. All he could do was offer a gentle tap on her shoulder, for he was grappling with his own troubles that seemed to dwarf hers in comparison.

He possessed the ability to assist them in their predicament, yet he found himself incapable of remedying his own. The Alpha did not see him as an equal, but rather as a repugnant being.

Ackerly pondered over the potential cause of the she-wolves' infertility, his mind racing with possibilities. Despite his extensive knowledge on the subject, he remained uncertain of the exact culprit behind this mysterious ailment.

The Pack Doctors granted them the liberty to cultivate their own concepts and methodologies, albeit with the caveat that they substantiate their assertions with substantial proof. It was duly noted by the experts that the greater the number of individuals seeking a remedy, the more expediently the issue of she-wolf infertility could be addressed.

"I am perfectly fine, Ackerly," she said with a calm and collected tone. "Are you well?" she asked with a concerned tone.

"After a week of being in this place, do the constant sightings of she-wolves not trouble you?" Katty questioned, her voice trembling with worry. In an effort to evade any potential discomfort, they deftly shifted the topic once more.

Ackerly's lips curved upward, but the atmosphere in the room was anything but cheerful. The pack of she-wolves nearly spat upon him, falsely accusing him of a transgression he had never committed.

It was not his fault that Omega males possessed the ability to sire offspring, for the simple reason that there existed an insufficient number of gravid she-wolves to fulfill the needs of the pack. The responsibility for this occurrence falls squarely upon the shoulders of the Moon Goddess, who remains oblivious to the Omega.

Katty let out a long exhale, her chest feeling lighter after a deep intake of air. Instantly, she discerned the look on Ackerly's face. "Fret not," Katty reassured, "for their apprehension stemmed from uncertainty regarding their ability to procreate a pup for their mate."

Ackerly chose to maintain his silence, for he was loath to betray his ignorance by admitting his lack of comprehension regarding the unfolding events.

He hoped fervently that they would soon come to their senses. There was nothing inherently flawed about the Omega, especially in regards to his character.

"Let us conclude this, Katty; I must depart early as I am indisposed," Ackerly declares, excusing himself from the discourse.

Ackerly continued with his work, unperturbed by Katty's presence. She nonchalantly acknowledged the man with a slight nod of her head.

In almost eight hours of working, the man trudged wearily through the door of his home, his body drained of all energy. He experienced the sensation of being struck by a fleet of cars, causing him to stumble and fall.

As Ackerly contemplated his weariness, he came to the realization that it was not a physical ailment that plagued him, but rather a deep-seated psychological response to the sting of rejection.

He was left with no alternative but to continue with his life, even as her ex-mate persisted in intruding upon his peace. He knew he had to maintain the façade of composure, to project an image of unflappable confidence in the face of rejection. But deep down, both he and his wolf ached for the touch of their mate, yearning for the connection that had been denied them.

His presence was essential for the proper healing of the deep wound in their chest, inflicted by the sting of rejection.

As the incident unfolded, Ackerly found himself in the midst of a refreshing shower. The sharp agony that coursed through his chest felt as though a thousand knives were piercing his flesh.

Ackerly's chest was pierced multiple times, as if by the sharp edge of a blade. He clutched at his chest, hoping to alleviate the searing pain, but to no avail. The man's countenance betrayed a profound sense of heartbreak. A piercing cry of anguish escaped his lips.

Ackerly had been grasping onto any and all things within reach. The excruciating pain coursing through his body had become unbearable.

"Help! Please help me." The plea escaped his lips in a desperate whisper, as he clutched at his chest, willing the pain to subside.

He had thought his voice was booming across the room, but as it turned out, the man he had been addressing was merely muttering to no one in particular. Despite the waning of his physical prowess, the torment within him persists.

As the realization dawned upon him that no aid was forthcoming, he gritted his teeth and stoically endured the excruciating pain. After much effort and struggle, he finally relinquished his pursuit. The cause of his discontentment was none other than his mate.

Alpha Killan is engaging in sexual activity with a different woman, and the results are having an impact on him.

The excruciating pain coursing through his body was akin to the sensation of needles piercing his heart and puncturing it with tiny holes. Ackerly's body convulses with each sob, wracked with excruciating pain.

"You're responsible for everything! Alpha Killan," he said through gritted teeth, "I shall never be able to forgive you for what you have done," he spat, his eyes narrowing with contempt.

"You are a cruel person. I would have preferred a swift death over the prolonged agony you are subjecting me to," he exclaimed. Ackerly found himself repeating the same phrases to himself, over and over again.

Ackerly's chest pain intensified, causing his heart and lung muscles to constrict. Ackerly's lungs were devoid of oxygen. The man struggled to draw in a full breath, his chest heaving with the effort.

As his pupils dilated to their maximum capacity, he felt his consciousness slipping away, leaving him with nothing but a seething hatred for his mate.

So this is not a story about winning his mate back. The alpha redeems himself and weak ackerly takes him back in about twelve chapters. Instead it’s all about rogues and infertility.
