Chapter 15

She is led to her car and they are driven to the restaurant they will be having a luncheon with the immediate family.

As everyone arrives, they greet Veronica with a “Donna”. Most people do not know who Luis or Javier are so they are giving curious glazes towards them all but they know better than to question Veronica.

“Thank you all for coming today. I know it’s hard on everyone that we had to lose my parents but we can grow from here.”

“Here. Here. Donna. To the late Don and Donna Sanchez.” Her uncle Craig toasts.

Everyone toasts and drinks. Everyone is relaxed and having fun. Veronica smiles and slides her hand into Luis’s and squeezes slightly. “Are you ready to leave?” She asks. He leans in for a kiss before pecking a kiss on her cheek. He nods to her.

Veronica says to the group. “I’m not sure how many of you know but I am going to be leaving for a week or so to clear my head. Feel free to continue running things as normal. I don’t see a need to change anything at this point.
