Annette said angrily, "I don't know you well enough to share secrets, so stop meddling in my business. And you promised me you'd keep it a secret."
"Of course. I have never mentioned it to others. You are the person involved, aren't you?"
"Then what do you mean by bringing this up all the time?" Annette said, trying to hold back her anger.
"I'm just rebutting what you said based on what you said. You are not the only outsider living under this roof. It is not against the law. You are no different from my other employees. I will provide you with food and accommodation. It's as simple as that."
After Connor finished speaking, his housekeeper walked in.
Connor looked at Annette and said, "You can start working now."
Annette looked at Connor's back as he left. She felt that she should be angry, but she was not.
In fact, she had planned to move out of the dorm. Now that she had a temporary place to stay, she could take her time looking for suitable accommodation.
Annette collected her thoughts, then she began to work.
After a busy day, it was already dark outside when she left Connor's villa.
When Annette arrived at the restaurant, Austin had already ordered the dishes.
She sat down, and Austin asked, "Are you tired?"
She drank some water and then said, "Alpha Connor's villa is big, but he has a housekeeper who is in charge of cleaning, so no, I'm not tired."
Austin pushed his steak to Annette. He said, "You should eat more. You look thinner."
"Don't worry. I will eat up," Annette said with a smile.
"If it is not enough for you, I will order more," Austin said.
They looked at each other and smiled. Annette felt very happy.
Just then, a shadow appeared beside Annette, blocking their light.
Annette turned to look. She lost her appetite when she saw the face of the woman standing next to her.
Austin stood up and frowned. "Jessica, why are you here?"
"Austin, you have just returned from abroad. But you meet with this bastard before coming home to see me, your sister!" Jessica Fisher said.
"Jessica, shut up!" Austin said angrily.
"Am I wrong? She was born out of wedlock, and her existence is a humiliation to our mother! How can you still be so nice to her?"
Austin said sternly, "Jessica, watch your mouth."
Jessica shouted, "After all, Austin, I'm your sister. I can't believe you're lining up with a stranger and yelling at me."
"Because you're being rude."
"How am I rude? Our mother is Luna. Don't you know how much our mother suffered because of her? I am being merciful enough by sparing her life."
Annette clenched her fists tightly. She stood up, and she was about the same height as Jessica.
"Ms. Fisher, show some respect. First of all, I don't have a father, so don't shove your father down my throat. I don't want him.
"Second, I never took any money from Black Thorn Pack. Even when my mother was ill in hospital and needed money to save her life, I never begged from Black Thorn Pack. So, no one from Black Thorn Pack is qualified to accuse me."
Jessica's face turned livid. "Your existence alone is a disgrace."
"That is what you think, not mine. I am proud to be my mother's daughter."
Annette took a deep breath, grabbed her schoolbag, and took out a few hundred dollars that she carried around for emergencies. She placed the money on the dining table and shouted "check, please", and turned to leave.
Austin chased after Annette for a few steps and pulled her. "Annette, listen to me. Jessica..."
"Austin, I've lost my appetite. Call me if you need anything."
Annette smiled at him, pulled out her wrist, and walked quickly away.
Austin turned to glare at Jessica. He said, "Satisfied now?"
After that, he left the restaurant as well.
Annette walked along the road for a few hundred meters and then sat on the curb.
She liked to watch the traffic because she envied that everyone else had a place to go.
"Ann, don't be sad. You have me," Annette's wolf comforted her.
"Eva, I'm fine. I just miss my mother," Annette replied.
Annette looked at the cars moving down the street. Her eyes blurred, and tears came down.
At this time, she felt someone approaching her. She turned around and saw Connor.
She turned her head and quickly wiped away the tears on her face. Then she stood up.
"Alpha Connor, what are you doing here?" She looked at him with feigned composure.
"Is that your catchphrase?"
Annette was puzzled for a moment. Only then did she realize that she seemed to ask him this every time she saw him.
She said awkwardly, "I was just surprised to see you, Alpha Connor, the revered Alpha of Akron, on the side of the road."
"Cut the crap. Why are you sitting here?"
"It's not against the law, right?"
"It's an eyesore."
She was furious. "How am I an eyesore? This is a public street."
"I was sitting in the car. From where I sat, you looked like a stray cat left on the side of the road."
His words made her nose sour.
What was the difference between her and a stray cat anyway? Like a stray cat, she had no family and was abandoned.
Her eyes were tinged with sadness. "Then I'll leave you alone and go."
"Where are you going?" he said coldly. "Get in the car with me. I'm on my way home."
He turned around and took a few steps. Seeing that she did not catch up, he turned around and said coldly, "Not going?"
"My things are still at school."
"The Norman's villa has everything. You can pick up your things tomorrow. Get in now."
Just like that, Annette got into his car.
Connor said to the driver, "Home."
"OK, Alpha Connor."
She looked at him. "Were you going somewhere? If you're busy, you can drop me here. I can get home by myself."
"I was heading home."
The driver glanced in the rearview mirror, a little confused. He thought, 'Didn't Alpha Connor just say he was going to Blood Moon Pack?'
Connor glared at the driver through the rearview mirror. The driver immediately shifted his gaze away and focused on driving."What happened?"Annette and Connor sat in the back of the car. After nearly five minutes of silence, Connor finally opened his mouth."Nothing. It's just that... I find it funny watching people in fancy cars get stuck in traffic. It turns out that money can't do everything.""She is lying," Leo said to Connor.Connor felt a little dissatisfied. He asked, "Then why were you crying?""Because I'm poor. I'm not even qualified to sit in my car and complain about the traffic, since I don't have a car."Connor glanced at Annette. He knew that she was lying again. He remembered that though Annette had a driver's license, she didn't know how to drive.Connor said to the driver, "Leonard, stop the car."Leonard hurriedly pulled over."Leonard, you're off duty."Leonard looked back. He was a little worried. Before Leonard could say anything, Connor's gaze turned cold. "
Annette did not respond to Kyle. She wanted to pull her hand out of his wrist, but he held it so tightly that she could not break free."Let go.""Are you embarrassed that I saw through you? Didn't you ever think I'd find out sooner or later? My mother is the one who gave you the job."Kyle roared in pain. She looked at him, her face full of grievance and anger. He said coldly, "What is it? Why don't you say something? Annette, why did you use me?""Your mother has talked to me countless times, and the subject has always been the same. She wants me to break up with you, and I get to stay here and be a teacher by doing so."Her voice was not exactly loud, but he heard it very clearly."I have been a good student and hardworking. I believed that I was good enough to work at the university, though I knew that the woman in power did not like me and that I might be disqualified. Yet, in the face of Fiona's repeated threats, I had never thought of compromising, because I believed in myself
"You'd better not get too close to me. I am an HIV carrier," Annette said nonchalantly. When the wretched man heard Annette's words, he took a few steps back with a look of horror, and then his eyes turned shifty. He pondered for a few seconds and then looked disdainful."Give me a break. I see through you! You're lying! Even if that's true, that won't scare me away. I will sleep with you today!"To Annette's surprise, she didn't scare him off and he saw through her lie. There was a hint of panic on her face. The man saw the change in her expression, and he was even more certain that Annette was lying.Annette wanted to run away from him, but he pushed her.She almost fell. The wretched man stepped forward, pulled Annette, and said, "Bitch, you're unlucky that you met me today. You crossed the wrong person."After he finished speaking, he leaned forward and wanted to kiss Annette. She raised her hand and slapped him.He was enraged. The man raised his hand and was about to slap her ba
"Don't you think it's quiet here? It's far away from the city. Whenever I am in a bad mood, I will come and sit for a while and look at the view by the lake," Annette said. She pointed at the sky. "Look," she said.Connor looked up. The night sky was beautiful."As long as I sit here and look at the beautiful night sky, I feel that it is good to be alive and that the future will be good. Don't you think?""Not really." He raised his eyebrows. She shrugged. "You think differently from poor people like me. No wonder I'm poor."He let out a laugh, which was quite rare. She looked at him in surprise. "Alpha Connor, I didn't know you also laugh."He asked, "Is there anyone in this world who can't laugh?""But I've never seen you laugh like this before.""Do you know me well?"Annette shrugged. She found the subject a bit self-deprecating.She took a sip of coffee and looked up at the night sky. It had been a long time since she had come to enjoy such a peaceful night. The surroundings sudd
"What are these?" Kyle quickly looked through the photos. The photos were taken in a dark valley. A tightly wrapped woman wearing a hat and mask was giving money to a man.Though the photos were taken from a distance, and it was dark, Kyle could still tell it was Lena from the last few photos that had zoomed on her face."It's proof. The day before yesterday, I was working at the convenience store when a jerk tried to hurt me. Alpha Connor saved me. The man admitted that he was paid to beat me, and no one but the one who paid him knew that I had met Alpha Connor that day. But now you do. And the photos are the proof."Kyle's expression changed greatly. He reached out and pulled her. He asked with a worried face, "Are you alright?"She removed his hand. "Kyle, I didn't expect you to be such a liar after you were with Lena.""I am not with Lena. I don't like her." Kyle frowned. Then he said, "Believe me. I don't want to break up with you. I won't accept your rejection.""Kyle, I don't w
Connor frowned at Annette's words again."She is lying!" Leo's voice sounded in Connor's mind."I know." For the first time, Connor did not refute Leo's words. He wasn't happy about it, since Annette didn't trust him."She doesn't trust us," Leo said. "It's your fault, Connor."Connor did not respond to Leo. Sometimes he thought Leo talked too much, and that annoyed him.Connor believed that Kyle might be the reason Annette chose to stay at Werewolf University.Perhaps Kyle was her mate.Connor's mood grew gloomy at the thought."Alpha Connor, can I go to work now?" Connor didn't answer her. Annette turned around and was about to start her work from upstairs.Suddenly, Connor grabbed her. She was startled as if feeling an electric current on her wrist."You don't have to do cleaning today. I have a business dinner to attend later. Come with me," Connor said, without noticing Annette's expression."Can I say no?" Annette was reluctant."Then how are you going to thank me for getting ri
Connor sensed that something was wrong with Annette. He could feel her wolf getting restless. He gently pressed Annette's shoulder. He was reminding Annette that there were many werewolves at present, and she needed to control her wolf.Otherwise, other werewolves would sense that Annette was a Rogue. It would be very dangerous for Annette.Annette took a deep breath and slowly calmed down. But her gaze didn't shift. As he followed her gaze, he realized that she was looking at Lance Fisher, Black Thorn Pack's Alpha. Lance was chatting with someone in his wheelchair."Do you know him?" When Connor saw Lance, he naturally thought of Austin."No." Annette let go of Connor's arm and shook her head."OK then. Do you want to eat something?""Yes," she said, wearing an unnatural expression."Come sit with me." He brought her to a table in the corner. "Just take a seat here. What do you want to eat?""Anything."He called the waiter to get some food for her.She lowered her head and ate slowl
Annette looked at Connor and asked, "How can you be so overbearing?"Connor chuckled. He said, "I am the Alpha of Blood Moon Pack. The entire pack's future is in my hand. This is my job, and I am used to it."Annette shook her head and said, "Don't you know how the werewolves in Akron are talking about you? They said that you were cruel and they were scared of you.""I don't care what others think of me," Connor said.Annette was silent. She thought, 'He's right. What does it matter if others think of me as good or bad?'Annette agreed with him. They left the banquet together. While they were waiting for the elevator, Annette saw Austin.Annette stopped. Then she walked toward the elevator doors with Connor, as if she didn't notice Austin. She quickly pressed the elevator button to go downstairs.Austin stood by the window for a moment, and then he walked over. From Annette's peripheral view, she saw Austin walking over and felt nervous. She prayed that Austin would walk past her like
