The whole compound looked festive as they alighted from the car. The woods covering the palace so fresh and inviting that she could feel the stirrings of a desire to run through it. The servants received them and went on to report them. They had arrived just about lunchtime and were taken directly to the dining table. There, they met Estella and Thapelo, dressed majestically in an inviting manner. They looked as majestic as ever.
The place looked festive as they had decorated the rooms. It looked out of this world. The large chandelier hanging from the top, sending soft light downwards. The huge windows by the sides drawn, providing sunlight through. The place looked sophisticated as well as comfortable. Estella and Thapelo stood and walked towards them.
“Good afternoon son, I trust your journey was, okay?” said Estella as she stood on her tiptoes to kiss Ryan on the cheek. Afterwards, she turned to her and hugged her warmly. “And this must be Leila, I have heard a lot about you, please come and have a seat.” She said as she held her hand and walked towards the seats. “Heey babe, are you trying to have my daughter in law all to yourself, let me hug her too.” Thapelo said as he walked towards them and engulfed her in a strong warm embrace.
Okay, maybe this was going on way better than she had expected. Leila thought in her mind as she turned to look at Ryan, who in turn winked at her. taking a deep breath, she sat down next to Estella, and Ryan sat by her other side. Small talk ensued and she realized that they were amazing to talk to. Realizing that they were a thousand years old had come as a shock because they did not look a day older than thirty. Besides they were so youthful in their behavior you would not believe they were that old.
Large chunks of raw meat were brought on the dining table, and the tableware lined on their plates. This time, they had real sharp knives because normal table knives could not cut through such meat. It was all fresh and damn, she had missed having fresh meat. Still warm from the time of death. Cutting a piece and placing on her plate, she could feel herself already salivating.
“This place has the best fresh meat, especially the game we have on our lands, I bet when you taste it, you won’t want to go away.” Ryan turned as he whispered into her ear. “Just taste, and please eat until you are full, no one here is concerned with food. Just look at my parents for a start.”
Looking at them, they were indeed focused on their food. The meat had been dripping but none of them had even dropped a single drop of blood on themselves. They had practiced this for long she guessed. Looking at the piece on her plate, she decided that she was going to have her fill. She first diced her meat into sizeable sizes before starting to eat. After a short period of concentrated eating, the only noise coming from the clutter of knives cutting through steak, conversation started again.
“I hear that Ryan has already marked you, however weird the event was.” Estella said as she took a napkin and wiped her lips. “How do you feel about that.”
Trying to push the meat down her throat, she took a sip of wine, then wiped her lips. “Um! To be honest, at first, I did not understand what had happened, and I did not like it, but now I am okay. With time maybe, we could make to be a family with him.”
“Sorry for the way it happened Leila, I guess the goddess of love had already predestined that you would be with my son. He is a good boy deep down if you are patient to dig as deep.” Estella said as he turned to wink at Ryan.
“Come on, stop it mom, you are now embarrassing me.” Ryan said as the tips of his ears started turning red. The man had to be blushing at this point. “Mom can we at least change topic?”
Looking at Leila, Ryan felt like stepping on her feet. She was actually holding back laughter, but her eyes showed it. She was laughing at him. She would learn not to do that ever again. “How have you people been, what is current with the pack.” Ryan asked as he shifted his focus from Leila to his parents. That question brought with it a somber mood over the hall. Clearing his throat, his father threw a slightly agitated look towards Estella, which Ryan caught quickly.
“Um son, things have been pretty complicated lately, can we talk about it later. Right now, I want us to just enjoy the meal before us please.” Thapelo said as he moved his hand to rub Estella’s. Giving a smile that seemed as sincere as possible, Estella moved on to safer topics. “We were actually planning on holding your wedding this week if it is alright with you people. Now that you have already become a couple, if everyone in the pack witnesses it, it would be good.”
“Yes, we do think it is a good idea. This will further consolidate your leadership position as the alpha.” Thapelo said as he focused his eyes on her. swallowing deeply, she felt her mind race. Things were moving too fast it was making her feel anxious. At the same time, she could feel her tummy churning. Like something very bad was about to happen. She did not know whether to voice it or not.
Ryan took her hand and answered on their behalf. “Mom, dad, is it okay we have some time to think over this. This was too abrupt for us please.” Nodding, they agreed on that and went back to talking. Seeing this the breath that Leila had not even realized she was holding was released and the soft squeeze by Ryan’s hand had her fully relaxed. By the time they were done with the meal, Leila’s ribs were hurting from laughter. Apparently, Ryan had not always been the most mature wolf, he was so naughty it was unbelievable.
After lunch, Ryan took Leila on a tour around the pack. They went back to the place where the warriors were being trained and she could feel her blood raising. Almost as if she was a warrior. At that moment, while they were practicing, it felt as though something was controlling her. showing her how to move with dexterity. With a clarity she had never experienced, she found herself move towards the warriors. Her movements not fixed or learned.Fighting, blood thirst echoed through her mind turning her eyes bloodshot red, with her iris elongating into thin slits, when she transformed, she did not even know it. Everything came in small details, the breath, the positions, every weakness detailed before her. she moved and leapt, the arteries pulsing before her. within a few seconds, the warriors were laying down, panting and if she had not had mercy, most of them would be lying hurt. It confused her. lyra, her inner wolf was excited, almost like she had an aphrodisiac.Aft
By the time Ryan came up, he found her already asleep. She slept curled on the bed, occupying just one portion of the bed, leaving the other larger part extensively unused. Sitting on his bed, he felt a headache beginning to form. The Victorians were becoming stronger. The presence of a healer had set them on a higher pedestal and now they wanted more. They wanted war. This issues really came at a bad time and he knew that he had to put his priorities right. They could not just keep on letting the Victorians push them around. They had to make a statement of power.Reducing his clothes to his briefs, he climbed onto the bed and held her in his arms. She was deep asleep, as shown by her soft snores. She turned and hugged him back tightly. This did make him feel important. Like she could actually depend on him. On the other hand, he was surer than ever before that she was the savior, they had all been waiting for. As fate had it, she was meant to be there with them, in this pack
Leila woke up nestled in Ryan’s arms, which now felt like steel. She could already feel the chirpings of the birds. And the smell of dawn. Everything felt invigorating. There was so much that was going on, and at a fast pace at that, but she was not scared, she felt liberated. Looking at Ryan who was now sleeping peacefully on the bed, she could not help but blush as she remembered what had gone down the previous night.Heartbeat increasing, she sat up and hid her face on her palms. She could feel his hot breath on her abdomen. Everything that went on last night had her rethinking her relationship with Ryan. The way his golden eyes had captivated her, drawing her into his world. The way he had moved up her body, tasting every part of her as though savoring a delicious dessert. The small kisses that he peppered along her body, making her shiver. Goosebumps developing along the path he trailed as his warm breath met her skin. Every time he had moved his lips from her skin
Ryan watched her as she walked down the aisle towards him. It still felt surreal how a handful of days ago, he had never even met her, but now, she was coming to him. They were to be united under the goddess of love, blessed to carry royalty in their blood. The path was lined with white pillars, on top of which there were vases of flowers. Each vase holding a mix of flowers. They all looked exotic, and he could imagine how carefully they had been sorted. But no matter how exotic they looked; they did not hold a candle to her. No, his Leila looked like an angel dropped from heaven. When he had heard that she was on the aisle, no, it was not heard, when he had felt her scent. His blood had started rushing wildly. Heartbeat increasing with excitement, today she would be his. Then he lifted his eyes slowly, which rested on the hem of her dress. The dress was long enough to cover her feet but the occasional rising of the dress as she walked allowed him to spot the leather sandals
“Hey, wake up Hun, brought you breakfast.” That was the sound Leila woke up to. She had been dead asleep for as long as she could remember. As the soft caresses of his voice entered her ear, she found herself trying to wake up. Her body felt like lead. Like heavyweights had been placed all over her. Leila’s eyes felt sticky as though they had been glued together using the strongest glue there is.Struggling to sit up, she heard herself groan as every part of her body resisted movement. As her eyes finally opened, first into small slits, and as the cold air passed through them, now fully awake. She started recalling. Yesterday had been her wedding day. Indeed, they had gotten married, but things did not go all through as they had expected. She moved her eyes to rest lazily on now her husband Ryan, who looked all fresh and crisp and wondered how it was that he did not feel tired. Yesterday had been so tiring, only being able to get some sleep in the wee
The biggest limiting thing for the current her now was that she could not understand the thoughts of the other members of her pack. Looking around her, she felt her heart thump, as that ominous feeling in her heart kept increasing. It felt as though something terrible would happen to her though she had no idea what. Her mind working clearly in a bid to make clear calculations towards the probability of her killing the healer, she underwent a berserk moment. Where all her thoughts were pulled towards one place. she had sensed a strong killing intent coming from that man that had silently appeared on the other side, at the same time, there was a familiarity that arose from her deepest parts. She could not afford to be sidelined at this moment, and therefore she made a decision that seemed unwise. She would attack everyone there. If she did eventually get to the healer well and good. But one thing she was sure of was that any chance she got, she should kill that man.
They were okay. The whole pack was okay. They then moved amongst the pack, looking at the casualties and thankfully, they weren’t as many as she had expected. Looking back, she couldn’t recall what had happened to the healer, but the Victorians had retreated. This time round, they had paid quite a huge price for the sake of expanding and yet they lost. The injured were collected and moved towards one center of their pack territory. It was at that time that she realized that the pack’s territory had been under heavy guard. They had machineries that protected the place even though they looked old-school. It seemed like even though it was in the twenty first century, the werewolves still preferred the fighting much more physically than using modern technology such as guns and grenades. The rush of adrenaline and the physical fights were much more exciting, besides, in as much they fought, they did not aim at exterminating their races. They were already f
His thoughts were in different places as he thought of what had happened back there. They had lost members of the pack to the attack. Thoughts of how there would be a blood bath once the savior arrived kept filling his mind, and he could not help but feel tensed. However, looking at her lying there, her soft snores filling the room. He knew what he had to do. There were in this together, and since the goddess of love had already foreordained him as the rightful mate to her, then he was capable in that aspect. After drying up, he slipped right under the blankets behind her, and cuddled her. things were okay for as long as they were together. Before long, whether due to accepting the fact that he was married to the savior or because of how tired he had been, he soon followed her into slumberland. In his dreams, he saw her standing there once more, the rain of arrows approaching her from all directions. This time round she was just a normal wolf, she could not stop the arrows as
