Chapter 3 – Torn Apart
Mia didn’t know how long she walked. The streets were quiet at this hour, empty except for the occasional car passing by, headlights cutting through the night. Her thoughts were anything but quiet. Sophie’s confession echoed in her mind, gnawing at her from the inside. It wasn’t just the betrayal—it was the fact that Ethan had been with Sophie first. He never told her, never hinted at it, and now Mia couldn’t shake the feeling that she had been played.
What else had Ethan kept from her?
She wandered toward the park, the one where she and Sophie used to hang out when they were kids. They had shared everything once—secrets, laughter, dreams of the future. Now it felt like everything had been a lie.
Mia stopped at one of the benches, collapsing onto the cold metal. She buried her face in her hands, trying to breathe, but the suffocating weight of it all made her feel like she was drowning.
Her phone buzzed again, Ethan’s name flashing across the screen once more. She hesitated, her fingers trembling as she swiped to read the message.
“Everything okay?”
No. Everything was falling apart. She wanted to scream at him, to demand answers. But what would that accomplish? He was just like everyone else—selfish, secretive, using her for his own needs. And she had been stupid enough to fall for it.
Mia’s fingers hovered over the keyboard, unsure of what to say. But she couldn’t bring herself to respond. Not now.
She stuffed the phone back into her pocket and leaned back on the bench, staring up at the dark sky. Her mind raced with a thousand questions, none of which she had answers for. How had she let things get so complicated? What was she even doing with Ethan? It wasn’t supposed to be serious. But it had gotten under her skin, and now… now it felt like she was losing control.
The next morning, Mia dragged herself back to her apartment, exhaustion weighing heavily on her. She hadn’t slept. How could she, with her mind spinning like it was? She didn’t know what to say to Sophie, or to Ethan. And Liam… God, she couldn’t even think about him right now. She was barely keeping herself together.
As she stepped through the door, her phone buzzed again. This time, it was Liam.
“Can we meet later? I miss you.”
Her chest tightened. Liam was everything safe, everything stable, and she loved him for that. But her feelings for him were nothing compared to the raw, reckless passion she felt for Ethan. And now, knowing what she knew, she couldn’t face Liam. Not yet.
Mia dropped her keys on the counter and collapsed onto the couch. She needed to figure out what to do next. She needed clarity. But instead, all she could feel was anger and betrayal, swirling inside her like a storm she couldn’t control.
Her phone buzzed again. Ethan.
This time, she couldn’t ignore it.
“We need to talk,” she texted back, her fingers tapping furiously against the screen. “Now.”
An hour later, Mia was back at Ethan’s penthouse. The moment he opened the door, her heart skipped a beat despite the fury boiling beneath her skin. He looked like sin, as always—perfectly tousled hair, the sharp lines of his jaw, that confident smirk that had once made her melt. But now all she saw was deceit.
“Mia, what’s going on?” Ethan asked, frowning as she pushed past him into the apartment.
She spun to face him, her eyes blazing. “Why didn’t you tell me?” she demanded, her voice trembling with a mix of hurt and anger.
Ethan’s brow furrowed. “Tell you what?”
“About Sophie.” The words were like acid on her tongue. “She told me everything, Ethan. That you slept with her.”
The confusion on his face vanished, replaced with something unreadable. “Mia—”
“No!” She cut him off, her voice rising. “You should have told me! You knew she was my best friend, and you never thought it was important to mention that you’d been with her?”
Ethan sighed, running a hand through his hair. “It was before we got involved, Mia. It didn’t mean anything. I didn’t think—”
“That’s the problem, Ethan! You didn’t think. You never think about how this affects me. I trusted you, and now I find out that you’ve been keeping secrets from me this whole time?”
Ethan stepped toward her, his eyes dark with frustration. “I didn’t lie to you, Mia. It wasn’t relevant. What happened with Sophie was a mistake, something that never should have happened, and it was long before we started this. I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want to hurt you.”
“Well, guess what? You did hurt me.” Her voice cracked, emotion bubbling to the surface. “You always told me I was the only one. You made me feel like I mattered, and now I find out I’m just another girl in your bed?”
Ethan’s jaw clenched, his gaze hardening. “You’re not just another girl, Mia. You know that.”
“Do I?” She shot back, her eyes brimming with tears. “Because right now, I feel like I’ve been a fool. I’ve been sneaking around, lying to Liam, all because I thought what we had was special. But you’ve been lying to me, too.”
He closed the distance between them, his hand reaching out to touch her face, but she stepped back, her body trembling with rage and hurt.
“Don’t,” she whispered, her voice barely audible. “I can’t do this right now.”
“Mia, I’m sorry.” His voice softened, but the apology felt empty. “I didn’t mean for you to find out like this.”
“Well, I did.” She wiped at her eyes, trying to keep the tears at bay. “And now I don’t know what to believe anymore.”
Ethan stood there, watching her, his expression unreadable. For the first time since they started this, Mia felt like she didn’t know him at all. Maybe she never did.
“I need some time,” she said, her voice trembling. “I need to think.”
Ethan nodded slowly, his gaze never leaving hers. “Take all the time you need.”
But as Mia turned to leave, she couldn’t shake the feeling that the damage had already been done.
Mia spent the rest of the day in a fog, her mind swirling with confusion and doubt. She didn’t go home. She didn’t want to face Liam, not when her own life was falling apart. Instead, she wandered through the city, aimless, trying to make sense of everything.
By the time the sun began to set, she found herself back at the park, sitting on the same bench as the night before. Her phone buzzed again. This time, it was Sophie.
“Can we talk?” the message read.
Mia stared at the screen, her chest tightening. She didn’t know if she was ready to face Sophie, not after everything that had happened. But she couldn’t avoid her forever.
Taking a deep breath, Mia typed back: “Yeah. Let’s meet tomorrow.”
She hit send and leaned back on the bench, her mind spinning. Tomorrow. She’d deal with Sophie tomorrow. But for now, all she wanted was to disappear.
Chapter 4 – Fractured BondsMia couldn’t sleep. The weight of everything pressed down on her chest, making it impossible to relax. Ethan’s betrayal, Sophie’s secret, her own lies to Liam—it all swirled in her mind like a storm she couldn’t escape. She lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling, replaying Ethan’s words over and over.“You’re not just another girl.”But that’s exactly how she felt now. Like she had been one in a long line of women to fall for his charms, to get swept up in the fantasy of being with someone older, more experienced. Someone who could make her feel things she never thought possible. And now, the fantasy was crumbling. When morning came, Mia pulled herself out of bed, her body heavy with exhaustion. She had agreed to meet Sophie today, but the thought of facing her friend made her stomach churn. How could she even begin to talk about what had happened? As she showered and dressed, she tried to steel herself for the conversation ahead. Sophie was her best friend
Chapter 5 – Shadows of the Past Mia stood frozen in Ethan’s penthouse, her heart pounding. She didn’t know how to move forward from here. Ethan’s eyes searched hers, waiting for her to say something—anything—that would break the suffocating silence between them. “Do you really think I can just forget everything?” Mia asked, her voice trembling. “You kept something from me, Ethan. You slept with Sophie, my best friend, and you didn’t think that mattered?” Ethan sighed heavily, running a hand through his dark hair. His frustration was evident, but Mia could see the guilt in his eyes. “It wasn’t like that, Mia. What happened with Sophie was before you and I… It didn’t mean anything.” “It doesn’t matter when it happened,” Mia said, her voice rising. “The fact that you didn’t tell me means you were hiding it.” “I didn’t want to hurt you,” Ethan said softly, stepping closer. “I was trying to protect us. What I feel for you—what we have—it’s real.” Mia’s chest tightened. She wanted to b
CHAPTER 6: SEX ON A STICKMIA“Are you going somewhere?” Liam inquired, after seeing me all dressed up.It wasn't my intention to wake him up. I was planning on just leaving quietly but somehow, he heard my movements. I blinked multiple times, thinking of excuses I could use to get out of there. I didn't want him to feel bad that I was leaving him in the middle of the night, but I also didn't want to keep Ethan waiting.“Um…I have to go. There's an emergency,” I lied.He rubbed his eyes, sitting up to look at me. “I don't get it, Mia. Didn't you just arrive here? Why are you leaving again?” He complained, watching me wear my shoes.I bit my lips, thinking of another excuse to tell him. “I…I have to be home. Dad would be home from his business trip, and I don't want him asking about my whereabouts.”It wasn't a lie entirely; my dad was on a business trip, and I wanted to be the first to greet him upon his arrival. Liam didn't ask any further questions but I could tell that he was very
Chapter 7: Sweet thing MIA *A WEEK LATER* This past week has been great so far. Liam and I decided to take things slow, although I still had my sexcapades with Ethan, my father already returned from his trip so I was able to take a breather, away from him for a while. I sat in the living room, binge watching my favorite series. I was so lost in it that I didn't realize when someone walked in. I noticed some movement but didn't bother looking up. It was probably one of the maids who went out for groceries. “Hey sweet thing,” I heard that familiar voice. My blood turned cold in an instant. I thought he wasn't going to show up until my dad has gone . What was he doing here? I didn't dare look up at him. I was scared of what he'd do to me. He laughed, making his way towards me. “Is this what we've come too? Are you ignoring me and acting like I don't even exist?” He retorted. I swallowed my saliva, taking deep breaths. “Welcome back, Ethan,” I replied, trying hard to act casual.
Chapter 8: Some kind of fetish?MIA“W–What do you want?” I managed to ask. My voice was cracking and barely audible but somehow he had been able to make do with my incoherent words. He smirked. “I want to touch you,” he revealed. My breath hitched and the thought of my Ethan touching me made me feel elated, I had missed him. It's not like I didn't want Liam to touch me either but I got so attracted to him that I couldn't help it.He waited for my response and when he got none he brought out his phone again. “Do you want me to call a Uber and leave instead?” He threatened, his middle finger close to the send button.“No,” I responded quickly. “You can touch me but can it be some other time? I'm just trying to process everything. I miss you Ethan, but I'm also scared and I don't trust you like I used to.” I pleaded. He had some type of emotion on his face. It was something that I couldn't quite put my fingers on. “You are still thinking about her but I can assure you that you're differ
CHAPTER 9: You're my number one youngsterMIA I shot him a glare, trying to make sure that my dad didn't notice what was going on between us. My dad could catch a glimpse, and I'm sure he'd kill him, burn his body to ashes, and flush those ashes down the toilet. I managed to get him to remove his hands from my lap. “Are you okay there, pumpkin?” Dad inquired and I nodded in response.I forced up a smile, “Yeah, I'm fine,” I lied.“The Chinese food is just so good. It's been so long since I've had Chinese, and that too, with my two favorite people,” I responded.Dad was elated by my statement. “It's been so long since we've been together like this. I've been so busy that I want to enjoy every weekend with you.”I nodded in response. I missed spending time with Dad; his company was working on a new project that they were about to launch, and he's been occupied lately. We made a few small talk; Dad told me about his trip, which I was excited to hear. I noticed that Ethan was quiet toni
Chapter 10: Killing two birds...LIAM I caressed her stomach softly, trying to make sure that she didn't wake up. Ever since we got together, I just wanted to do whatever I could to make her happy. She deserved the whole world and I was willing to give her that. She had been annoyed the previous night that I tried to contact her. But I was just upset and was only looking after her. We made up and spent the night together soon after. She stirred in her sleep and I could tell that the little caresses I was giving her were jolting her back to reality. She looked up at me and she had a smile on her face. She couldn't look cuter anymore and I wanted to kiss her so very badly."Good morning," I greeted and pecked her on the lips and then on her tummy. She giggled lightly and said, "That tickles."It was nice to see her smile and I certainly just didn't want the day to end at all. The way her eyes lit up the room, and I was sure that I could take her in my arms forever. I just wanted to be
Chapter 11: Sex is a game ETHAN I dropped her off at Liam's place, the goody two shoes, it's no wonder she always comes to me, I fulfill all of her hidden pleasures, I own her and everything that concerns her so I still wonder why she's with him. I'm getting a hard-on thinking about all the crazy things I do and could do to that little body of hers, that little vixen does a lot of things to me that I'm not ready to admit to myself yet. Needing to get rid of thoughts of Mia, I scrolled through my contacts and stopped at Sophie’s. Yes, the same Sophie l told Mia I stopped screwing a while ago. The truth is I never stopped my affair with Sophie, she's like my booty call, I call her in times like these, times when I can't get my mind straight. I texted her to come over while I drove home. I went straight upstairs on arrival having in mind the things I intend to do to Sophie. Sex is a game and if you aren't prepared you'll definitely disappoint whoever it is you are doing it with. I
Chapter 20: Dramatic/cause a scene GREG EVANS I showed up at my family house knocking as loud as I could but got no immediate response. Why would they keep me waiting? This is my house too. He opened the door and there he was, standing at the doorway like he was king of the castle, then I saw her—Mia. All grown up now, but I’d know that timid look anywhere. The same one she had when she was a kid. Like a deer caught in headlights. Pathetic, really. “Greg,” my brother said, his voice like ice. He always thought that his cold tone could keep me in check but It never did. “Hello, brother,” I replied, as smooth as ever. I stepped inside without waiting for an invitation. What was the point? It's not like he was going to stop me, no one had the right to stop me. My eyes found Mia, and I couldn’t help but smile. She looked like she wanted the ground to open and swallow her up and I loved that I had that effect. “Mia,” I said, dragging her name out slowly, savoring her discomfort. “A
Chapter 19: Kissed him MIA “You know what?” Sophie said when we got back from the mall. “What?” I responded, feeling really tired. “Let's go to the club,” she giggled. “The strip club.” She added. “Girl, you're not serious, I'm tired.” I said, heading to her room. She followed suit, still trying to convince me. “We still have four hours till the strip club opens, you can rest then we'd go, okay?” She said, leaving no room for me to reply. “Whatever you say, mi lady.” I responded, sarcastically. I settle in and in no time I dozed off, when I woke up, I heard voices outside and I went to check it out, it was Sophie and her mum. “Good evening Mrs Turner.” I greeted Sophie’s mum, interrupting their discussion. “Hello Mia, you're awake,” she smiled. Sophie lived alone, so there must be a reason that her mum is here, I smiled back at her and went back to the room. “Mia, are you ready to partyyyy!” Sophie shouted as she got into the room. “Oh yes.” I said. “That was rather s
Chapter 18: Uncle GregMIAMy family is all kinds of weird, there's my uncle, Greg, my dad's elder brother who is the family’s black sheep. He went to jail for trafficking drugs and other reckless behaviors which made my grandpa give the company's rights to my dad. Uncle Greg is manipulative and narcissistic, always in one trouble or the other and my dad is always the one bailing him out.My aunt, Cecilia isn't like that though, being the baby of the house, she was always spoiled by my grandpa before he passed. She's sweet, loving and has been a mother figure since my mom passed, although she has a very sarcastic side to her which I find really amusing. As for my dad, he's the second child. He always had the responsibility to make sure everything is in order at home. We lived on the family property as per my grandpa’s wish. Hence my uncle barging in on us now, the house was our family house, so he had the right to be here. As for why he wasn't living with us before now, that's because
Chapter 17: Reliving a nightmareMIAA chill crept down my spine. My heart started to race. I was being followed and I had to do something about it, picking up my phone, I dialed the emergency line, “911, what’s your emergency?” the operator asked. “There’s a black van following me,” I said, my voice trembling. “It was on my tail when I was going to work and now when I'm going back home it's on my tail. I’m scared.” The operator’s calm voice guided me. “Stay on the line with me, ma’am. Can you tell me your location?” I gave them my location, my eyes darting between the road and the mirror. The van was still there. “Officers are on their way,” she assured me. “Keep driving to a populated area if you can.” I nodded, even though she couldn’t see me, and turned toward a coffee shop that was close by, I parked near the entrance of the coffee shop, my heart pounding as I watched the van pull into the lot and stop a few rows back. Moments later, relief washed over me as two polic
Chapter 16: The proposalMIAThe drama yesterday was nothing I've ever experienced, it was just from one situation to another, I still haven't asked dad about what happened at his workplace, I made a mental note to ask him at breakfast.I take my bath and dress up. I'm going to make today as productive as ever by going to my art gallery. Yeah, I have people that work for me there but I normally check-in on them once every week.“Good morning dad,” I cheered as I came down the stairs, “you still owe me an explanation on what happened at the office yesterday.” I added.“Oh sweetie, I hope you slept well,” he replied, obviously dodging my question.“Dad!” I exclaimed.“I have handled it love, don't bother your pretty head.” he responded firmly.“Okay, if you say so, Dad.” I smile and serve myself breakfast.“Looking good sweetie, going somewhere?” He asked.“Yes dad, I'm going to the gallery.” I answered.“Well make sure you take your car, I don't want you hopping on taxis.” He insisted,
Chapter 15: A blast from the pastETHAN“Mia,” I growled, sexually frustrated and in disbelief.“Goodbye jerk, make sure to lose my number!” she said, walking out and leaving me tied to my headboard, my dick hard as a rock.Wait what did she mean? “Hey don't leave me like this, we can talk about everything.” I shouted, but she was already out.I struggled with the ties a bit but it was of no use, that bitch, she definitely planned this all along and I was stupid to fall for it. Looking around for my phone, I spot it on the bedside table, far from my reach.“Damn it!” I growled, frustrated. I guess I'll have to be loud, and hopefully Daniel is close by to help me out.“Hey, is anyone there? Daniel!” I shouted. No response, damn my hands are getting sore and these blue balls are starting to hit hard, those can be really painful. That's when I heard footsteps, it sounded like someone was heading upstairs. “Daniel, is that you?” I asked,I heard a knock on the door and was grateful when
Chapter 14: Lose my number MIA Ethan's an asshole, he promised that he wasn't with Sophie anymore now I had to get embarrassed like this. It's clear that Sophie loves him, and she's right, I'm a two-timing bitch. I'll let Ethan go now, but not without making him pay for being a jerk. “Hey Sophie, I'm truly sorry for not telling you.” I apologize once again. “It's fine love, I just want things to go back to the way it was, we're childhood friends babe.” She said and that made me wonder how we went from being inseparable to name calling. We practically did everything together, but after the incident with Sophie’s ex Jacob, everything wasn't as it was, Sophie who was once really cheerful and lovely became miserable and kept to herself. It hasn't been long since she started opening up again, after the jerk was sentenced. “Do you love Ethan?” I asked, trying to make out what's going on in her mind. “Is it obvious?” She blushed. “Yeah, you don't really do the name calling thing, it'
Chapter 13: Reckless feelings SOPHIE Sex with Ethan has to be the most amazing thing I've ever got to experience, he knows his onions, he knows how to please a woman and don't get me started about his dick. I wanted to be done with him, I ignored his calls, even told my best friend Mia about our affair and she looked at me with eyes filled with judgement. Even with all these going on, I couldn't stop thinking about him, then I came to the conclusion that I was in love with him, why else would I be feeling like that towards him? I decided to do some shopping so I could get my mind off him. On my way out of Victoria’s Secret I heard my phone beep, it was a text, from the person my mind has been on for the past few weeks, Ethan. “Are you available? Come over to my place now.” I read his text and started jumping like a kid with a sugar rush. I love his authoritative attitude, it gets me more turned on. I hurried back home, took a shower, put on my most sexy lingerie and left fo
Chapter 12: You ruined everything! JOHN EVANS(Mia’s father) I hate board meetings, mostly because of Ryan Williams, my worst enemy and trust me, I have lots of enemies. Ryan and I were best of friends back in college but all hell went loose when we fell in love with the same woman. The boardroom buzzed as Sasha Brown, one of the board members of my company Interactive Imagination, addressed us. “Sales of Cosmic Gladiators are flat. Ideas?” I proposed that new fighting features should be incorporated into the main characters of the game so that our marketing department can use these upgrades as focal points in their marketing strategy hence increasing our sales and I was immediately Ryan warned of budget constraints, I'm sure he did that to get on my nerves. Another board member, Logan Heath cautioned against rushing development and laid down a plan: beta-test, refine, and deliver flawlessly. “So what do we think about this plan?” I asked, trying to control myself against tear
