Chapter 6 He Has Returned

“Do I remind you of someone, Emma?”

His evil whispers dropped around her ears, making Emma want to scream out and flee away but she retained.

“It’s Mrs. Adams, Mr. Cooper.” Emma reminded him with a cold face, deliberately pressing the words of her identification to the man, David.

Under his dark and suspicious gaze, she stood firm, not showing any weakness but annoyance at his approach and the way he called her by her first name.

How impolite !!!

His lips arc, “Mrs. Adams, a respectful way to acknowledge a noble married woman.”

His words carried a great hint of sarcasm making Emma stiffen.

What was he talking about?

Is he implying that she wasn’t noble?

A layer of fear suddenly covered her face, and the man, David, noticed it instantly.

“You looked scared of me, why, Mrs. Adams?” The man asked slowly.

“As I told you before, you’re highly mistaken, Mr. Cooper.” Emma stood determined on her words not giving the man any satisfaction of his dark aura around her.

“I can see it in your eyes…” He teased her.

“Well, I am not…” Emma snapped staring back, straight into his eyes.

Her fearless and determined eyes were the same as that disastrous night when she hit the devil named Henry Ford from her car.

“Well, just kidding.” The words came out as an audible whisper and in a gush, David was gone, leaving his chilling and dark aura behind which enveloped Emma’s surroundings fully.

She stayed glued to her place, her mind was distressed and so was her heart.

The man's sudden approach and his departure was so disturbing and weird.

She had to find out about this man, before it would be too late.

“David Cooper,” Emma murmured slowly while she searched for the information.

The information she got from the internet was the complete opposite of what she was expecting, David Cooper indeed belonged to one of the wealthiest families in New York.

He is a man with charms and brains, he has a great academic history in the past and now took the position of CEO in his family business, in simple words, he is The Boss. The heir of The Cooper Family.

Was there someone behind the doors, someone related to Henry? Or was she just overthinking?

BOOM

Just when she was too lost in searching for information about David Cooper, her laptop suddenly shut closed and she looked up with a frown.

“Jacob…” She pouted her lips in anger.

“Are you planning to starve yourself, huh? Come to have dinner.” Jacob questioned and Emma looked at him apologetically.

She was so occupied with the puzzles of David Cooper that she completely forgot about accompanying her beloved husband.

“Oh, I'm OK, now…” She stood from her place and her face flushed with embarrassment.

Happily walking to the dining table as Jacob holding her hands, her mind was drifting away from David Cooper.

As Emma thought she could forget David Cooper with her peaceful life, she received the call from David Cooper a few days later.

“Hello, Mrs. Adams…” As the voice started, Emma immediately recognized him and panic started to rise in her heart.

“How did you get my number, Mr. Cooper?”

She was furious and displeased.

“Natalie gave it to me. And the important thing is, I am in your office, I need some help with the submitting form, can you come over now?” He came straight to the point, and Emma felt relieved when he spoke regarding some matter instead of teasing her.

She looked at the clock, it showed three in the day. Today she had only one class as she left the campus early but now, she had to return again.

After one hour, all the things were done, Emma breathed a sigh of relief.

Now, David’s chapter is closed from her life.

However, as she reached to get her car back home, she found that the tire was damaged. How strange!

“Allow me to offer you a ride, Emma…” A voice from behind her startled her completely.

Again, he was calling her by her first name.

“No, Mr. Cooper. I am completely fine on my own.” She rejected him without any hesitation and after a few steps she got a taxi, not noticing his dark look behind her.

Just as Emma reached home, she received another call.

“Jaden Christ, one of the students of your class has created a huge mess in my company, Mrs. Adams.”

Emma froze as she heard the voice again. She stayed quiet for a moment and then responded.

“You can call his parents. I am not his guardian.”

She responded coldly when David added, “Actually, that is the problem here, Jaden’s parents are not in town at the moment, and with the mess, he has created, I am afraid I am not patient enough to wait until they return.”

His words carried a hint of warning, a threat.

“Are you threatening me, Mr. Cooper?” Emma asked in a sharp tone, not hiding her displeasure at all.

“Oh, no. How could I threaten a noble lady like you, Mr. Adams. It’s just he kept saying your name for the help, so I thought maybe I could convey the message to you before making up my mind for his punishment.”

His words were giving Emma a chilling spine, swallowing the lump in her throat, she asked directly, “What do you want, Mr. Cooper?”

“I want you to come over to my office right now,” He ordered straightly and then added, “For the talk.”

Emma was pondering as she had a bad feeling. Jacob was on his business trip out of the town and there would be no body who could accompany her.

"Shall I let you hear your student first?" David added and turned on his speaker, the sobbing of Jaden coming into Emma's ears.

"Don't scare him, I'll be right there." Emma finally chose to agree, for her innocent student.

Embracing her frightened heart, Emma took a cab and then went straight to the address he sent to her.

However, when she entered the building, finally she noticed something weird.

Being an heir of The Cooper Family, David's office must be some high-end building or something with a staff of thousands of people. But this one was too silent, only with a handful of the staff here.

Her heart started to quiver with each step she took toward his office.

It was like a den, a dark lion's den.

“Here, please.” The young man guiding her said politely and then knocked on the door, allowing Emma to enter on her own.

Emma nodded her head. Taking a deep breath, she held the doorknob and twisted it.

“Mr. Coo….”  She slowly walked in but was stunned when her eyes caught the glimpse of a huge painting on the wall.

"Ahhhhh!"

A scream broke out of her mouth while her heart dropping.

The painting on the wall. Those lustful eyes, that strong physique, that filthy mouth, and the way his lips arc into an evil smile.

It was the same man who raped her that night, Peter, the best friend of Henry Ford.

She knew it was him! There was no David Cooper but only Henry Ford!

Without hesitation, Emma turned around and wanted to run away from this place as soon as she could, but a tall figure suddenly appeared and blocked her way. Emma looked up shivering and met that familiar face.

His dark eyes fixed on her, with obvious hate and cruel. And his evil voice made her tremble more heavily.

"Hey, Emma. Long Time No See."
