Chapter 2

Finally getting off the suffocating car, she stood infront of a huge mansion as she glanced around. A train of cars parked by, neatly trimmed flowers, and the building, magnificent in its own way.

Samantha was lost in admiring the all too beautiful surrounding that she didn't notice Eliot take his step up the stairs.

" Show her to her room," Eliot said to Carmen, the housekeeper who had gone to receive them back.

Samantha had her back turned against the two as she admired the long drive they had come through. She felt already lost in the vast estate seeing the gate a distance off.

" Miss Reeda please let me escort you to your room," Carmen said respectfully.

Eliot stopped in his tracks when he heard this. He turned around in an instant and stared hard at Carmen.

" Never should you mention that name in this household ever again," Eliot said in a stern voice before he took long steps and entered the house.

Samantha's attention was drawn back as she stared at the two. She heard a gasp from the woman when their eyes met.

" I'm so sorry my lady, pardon me for my mistake," Carmen apologized profusely. She had her head bowed before Samantha regretfully.

" Don't be ma'am, I'm sure you didn't expect to see someone else," Samantha said.

" Thank you my lady, let me lead you to your room," Carmen said.

Samantha meekly followed after the woman who seemed to be in her forties as she led her inside. The living room was beautiful, expensive leather seats and matching curtains, huge chandeliers that hang delicately on the ceiling, a beautiful spiral staircase that led up. Surely she had landed herself into a goldmine.

She followed up to the first floor where Carmen led her inside.

" Ma'am could you please help me out of my gown," Samantha said.

" Right away my lady," Carmen replied.

" I'm Samantha, you should stop addressing me like that," Samantha said.

" I wouldn't dare my lady, but you can call me Carmen," Carmen said.

" Is that so ma'am, I'm just an ordinary girl who got married to sir Eliot by mistake. So don't give me those titles I don't deserve. You called me Reeda, obviously I'm not the one you should have expected to see," Samantha said. She couldn't help but wonder what had truly happened with Reeda, did she abandon him at the altar.

Samantha felt dread just thinking about this, what if he wasn't a gentleman at all, that with all the wealth and perfect looks, a woman still chose to leave him.

Carmen just glanced up at her without uttering a word. With the gown loosened up, Carmen opened a door that led to the bathroom and disappeared inside before returning seconds later.

"My lady, your bath is ready , please clean yourself while I make ready something for you to eat," Carmen said.

Samantha only nodded at her before she got out of her gown that had made her feel like she had been stuffed into a cell.

She remembered that she hadn't even chosen the gown herself, her step mother had shoved it into her room earlier in the morning. Though it fitted her perfectly, she never felt quite happy as a bride, until the heavens turned her fortunes.

Having come out of the bathtub, Samantha found neatly folded clothes that she put on immediately. Though they fitted loosely on her body due to her frail body, she was happy that she got something to wear. With her stomach already rumbling, she retraced her steps back to the living room.

Carmen stood by the stairs waiting for her. She then led her to the dining area. Several delicacies was lined in the table, but only a single plate on the table.

" Ma'am isn't sir Eliot coming down to eat too?" Samantha asked as she stared at all the food.

" You should go ahead my lady. The boss already left minutes ago. Just call me should you need anything," Carmen said before she excused herself.

Samantha sat by the long table silently as she stared at all the food prepared for her. She just wedded, yet her husband was already off, leaving her in that strange place without uttering a word.

Not wasting her time, Samantha digged into the food. Being served like a queen was something she had forgotten for about three years now. She had been a servant, yet here, she was the queen.

Having had her fill, she retreated back into her room and locked herself in, replaying the entire day's events. In the long run, she had fallen asleep. The previous night her eyes hadn't closed even for a second, her prayer had been for the dawn never to break, but finally free, she sighed loudly before she enjoyed the first peaceful sleep in months.

For two nights, Eliot didn't return home. Samantha decided to return home and get some of her clothes.

" Carmen, could you please assist me with a few dollars, I need to pick up some items from home," Samantha said to Carmen who was busy cleaning the dishes.

" Don't worry about that my lady, I'll ask the driver to take you there. " Carmen said.

Alex was the driver Sir Eliot had placed under her disposal should she want to pick up anything from the market.

At the same time, at Smith mansion, all hell had broken loose. Boris had gone to pick up his bride. He had given Dorca two days to have his bride delivered willingly, he had even stationed guards outside their home to ensure that they don't escape. But till that time, Camilla and her mother had tried everything possible to escape the old man, but he was back with full force.

Herald had left for work, and no matter how many times Dorca had called for his assistance, he declined to receive the call. It was just her and Boris to sort out their business deal.

Boris stormed into the mansion with his guards who immediately caught Camilla who was trying to escape them. They dragged her into the living room amidst her tears and pitiful wails.

" Mother please, don't let them take me," Camilla cried out to her mother who stood helplessly few steps from Boris.

" Boris please, I'll return all your money, just let my daughter go, please," Dorca pleaded.

" I don't take back my investments woman, and it's too late to think that I can change my mind," Boris said as a sly smile crept up his lips.

He glanced at Camilla who had been held down at his feet.

He had the guys release her before he held her chin upwards so that she faced him.

" Am I that disgusting to you, that you would do anything to get away from me?" Boris asked.

" You are correct old fool, I can't get married to you, you disgust me," Camilla said as she spat to his face.

Boris let go of her and wiped off the saliva from his face. Camilla tried to run off but he had landed a heavy slap across her cheeks that sent her to the ground immediately.

Her cheeks had turned red, she felt lightheaded from the impact of the slap.

" Don't you ever try anything stupid with me young woman, I'll squeeze the life out of you," Boris warned in a menacing voice.

" Please Boris, listen to me, just let Camilla go, I'll give you everything you want. " Dorca pleaded.

Boris stared at her with his rage filled eyes.

" It was nice doing business with you Dorca, I promise, I'll take good care of your daughter. She is my wife after all." Boris said and took a step back, he extended his arm to Camilla who was still on the ground.

" Come my dear, I won't hurt you, as long as you obey me," Boris said as he smiled down at her.

Camilla hit his hand away.

The colour in Boris eyes changed suddenly before he resounded yet another slap on her, then another, her hair messed up all over her face.

Boris pulled her by the hair and dragged her out.

" It seems you don't like me being gentle with you, and you never listen. Don't worry dear, I'll teach you how to respect me," Boris said as he dragged her down the stairs, all the while Camilla cried for her mother.

" Mother please...I don't have to pay for the money you had taken from him," Camilla lamented as she was dragged out.

" Your mother won't help you Camilla, so I suggest you don't make a fool of yourself, just come with me dear, you can't escape me, your husband will take good care of you, you'll see," Boris said as he walked to the car that awaited them.

Just at that moment a car pulled up behind them and Samantha got out.

" Boris... Boris... Samantha has returned, you can let go of my daughter now," Dorca shouted the moment she saw Samantha get out of the car. Dorca had rushed down the stairs and headed towards Boris who stood and glanced over at Samantha.

Samantha was alarmed. She had walked right into a snare. She tried to take a step back and head into the car but Dorca had moved fast and pulled her back.

" You stupid bitch, where do you think you are going?" Dorca said angrily.

Camilla on the other hand glanced up with a glimmer of hope in her eyes. She tried to break free from Boris's clutch but he held her hair tightly, not letting go.

"Let me go you old man, can't you see she is already back for you," Camilla said angrily as she shot deadly stares at Samantha.

Camilla prayed her to break loose, she couldn't wait to deform that beautiful face of hers for making her undergo such a degrading ordeal.

" Here, take her and let go of my daughter," Dorca said as she shoved Samantha forward. She landed a few feet from the two.

Camilla took that moment and captured Samantha before she had landed heavy slaps on her face. Her head hurt from the pressure since Boris hadn't let go of her, but the thought of letting out her frustration was more than the pain she felt.

Samantha moved away from Camilla to catch her breathe. Everything had happened so fast. How could she still be at the mercy of those two after all these.

" Sorry to disappoint you Camilla, but today you are going to be a married woman. Can't you see my finger? When has a woman been married twice. This is your karma bitch. Be happy with your husband, I already got my own." Samantha said with a smirk on her face. She wiped off her lips which tasted bitter from the cut that Camilla had left on.

" You dare talk back Samantha," Dorca said angrily.

" Get in the car, I don't have time for your family drama," Boris said suddenly before he pushed Camilla inside.

" What are you doing Boris, Samantha is here," Dorca said in alarmed tone.

Boris stopped with one of his legs already in the car.

" I only want her, besides, Samantha is already a married woman," Boris said as a triumphant smile look plastered on his face. He shut the door before his car roared away.

Dorca followed after the car shouting, but in a second they already disappeared in a distance. Dorca turned to Samantha who was already heading into the house.

" You'll pay for this Samantha, I'll kill you if anything happens to my daughter," Dorca shouted after Samantha's disappearing figure.
