HOLD MY MASTER!

THE beast let out a groan, his expression horrid and pained. She stared speechless as he glared at beings she couldn't see.

"What are you_" she stuttered and he cried louder suppressing her query. His body shook in fear and Iva couldn't help but feel the unease. It crept through her skin and wrote fright all over her being. She looked around the place, there was no one to be seen for yards away. "What's going on?" she whispered.

Yi began to yell as well but not at the air, he was yelling at her. He raked his claws in her sleeves and then he pulled. Caw! Caw! the bird bellowed none stop as his wings flapped in unrest.

Iva looked over and noticed the beast had taken a defensive stance, the air around him began to sizzle and spark. Caw! Caw! Caw! Yi yelled, even more, he bat his wings at the detective and tried his best to pull her. "what do you want me to do?" Iva turned frantically to the bird and their eye locked. Her vision blurred and the edges of her view darkened, she heard the words so clear in her head that she almost screamed 'Hold my master!' the calm silvery voice came out as an urgent plea. She threw her hands over her mouth, the voice had come from her or much rather from a thought that Yi had sent to her. Warmth ran through her right after the voice and she flinched. Caw! Caw! Caw!

Iva-Lois trying her best to grip herself stared at the angry beast, there was loud snapping, and he was heating, the earth beneath him began to die and the soot getting freedom from gravity shot up to the sky. "Oh my God!" her eyes froze as she realized what was happening, hair grew over his arm, they were black and thick strands. His canines grew bigger and ears shot out from the beast's head. Caw! Caw! Yi shouted and ran for his master and yelled fruitlessly.

'Hold my master!' Without thinking, she grabbed the beast's wrist and tightened her grip, in second his wrist became larger. Then the air around Iva became thick and it was almost impossible to breathe.

A loud ear-splitting hunk tore her focus, Yi rammed into the steering wheel, wings flapping as he propelled himself even further into the wheel.

It seemed as though the beast was returning to its original form, the blaring continued and Iva pulled his arm. Then he blinked, his eyes were still black but his skin was back to normal. The soot no longer graced fell lightweight to the ground. The beast stood motionless as the blaring continued. "That's enough Yi!" Iva pitched and looked over to the bird, she pulled the beast into the back seat and stared at his face, jaw flexed and brows furrowed, he blinked again and his silver-like eyes appeared looking away from the detective.

"Do you want to explain what was that?" she cocked her hips and arched her brows at him behaving more relaxed than she felt "What's going on, what was that? some mental tantrum or something?" she babbled.

" How good are you at fighting?" the beast asked out of the blue, his tone calm and absent "Are you_" he turned to her.

"kidding me" Iva blurted and leaned in, her eyes were in disbelief at the moment "what happened to you just now? why were you yelling and killing innocent plants?" she laughed almost in hysteria "now you're asking how good I am at fighting?"

Silence answered her and she stared at him, Her stare burned into his, he could feel the glare from the detective, he could also hear her heart pounding, she tried to hide her fear. But he was more confused than she was. "I don't remember what happened"

"Nothing of it?"

"Nothing of it" he placated and looked at her causing her to jerk away from him. Ignoring her reaction, he pulled himself up causing her to move out completely from the back of the vehicle. To avoid looking awkward, she arranged her sweater stomped to the drivers' door, and yanked it open. She threw herself into the seat and stared at the beast through the rearview mirror. He watched her quietly and murmured something to himself.

" What?" she snapped but her question met silence fuming, she tossed her arm over to the next seat and grabbed the car keys. She felt embarrassed and couldn't keep her face from heating, his eyes staring at her had made her heart leap to her throat, boldly she admitted to herself 'he's hot'. Almost immediately, Yi shouted Caw! she recoiled, she couldn't help but think he heard her thoughts "Uh...why do you want to know if I fight?"

The beast was staring out the window when she asked, he looked at her briefly through the corner of his eyes before staring away " we are going to find your partner?" he accented melodiously and foreign.

She stared straight at the road, what would they be facing to get Devin, they only had a theory of his whereabouts but the wolf seemed determined that he would be with Dimitri- the man Gus had mentioned. Either way, she hoped Devin was alive and she could leave this place any time soon. The jeep reared into motion and they embarked on their journey, according to the beast, they would be going to an old community room.

Iva had tried a payphone on their way and spoke with her Chief, Detective Hound McGhee. She explained her situation to him but he had repeated words he told her on her departure -“We weren’t permitted to bring in any more of the force”- then he asked to put Devin on the phone. Hound McGhee, was the Chief of the Homeland security Agency at the Jail Valley District in Vingerton, a money-driven geezer that stood with the government for monetary gain. She wasn't one to complain, he paid them well and made effective use of her abilities in solving mainly murder cases, her district was called jail valley for a reason.

Arriving their destination, the road was all rocks and grass with no other buildings in sight. It was a three hour ride and night had arrived quickly. The Jeep rolled to a stop in front of an abandoned building and the two stepped out. Iva looked about the place, noting the beast did the same, clearly cautious of the dead silent environment. He gave Yi a signal and the bird went straight ahead, they walked silently with only the sound of the cool breeze hitting the leaves and the crunch of small rocks beneath their feet. With an exhale, the detective climbed up the few flight of stairs before them and then pushed the large door open letting cool breeze into the stuffy space. The room was large, a few flights of stairs led down, at the other side of the building was another flight of stairs leading over to a large door which would be the main courts. The room was covered in the ceiling to floor windows and was round like an Olympus, but not large enough...

Although the thought came to her mind whilst she drove, she brushed it off as overthinking, She had wondered if it were only mere coincidence that the beast had shaded when she mentioned her father’s name. It was at the top of her tongue to ask but she spoke nothing of it.

PREVIEW:

She stepped up to the community assembly room door, looking back at the large room below. "Whatever you trapped here has probably gotten away" Iva hissed as she pulled out her gun.

"Impossible" The beast replied and stared straight at the large door.
