“I actually have something I wanted to discuss with you,” Mom said, and that's when I also remembered that I had something I needed to tell her.

“No, how about you go on first,” Mom urged, but I told her to go on first, but she insisted that I go on first.

“Actually, Cassius and I have decided to get the custody of Emelia's kids,” I conveyed, and the look on her face seemed like she's already aware of it. “Do you already know about it?”

“Yes, I did, and that’s why I said I wanted to have a discussion with you,” she said, and I wondered how she got to know about this unless she met with Emelia. “Mary, I don't think that is a good option. Why don't you just adopt a kid instead? Getting custody of the kids who are accustomed to their real mother and know that she’s hale and hearty might backfire in the future.”
