Marcelo~

The constant pitter patter of rain drops against my window sill, was the only sound keeping me company, as I sat alone with my thoughts. Thoughts that revolved around a particularly interesting female.

Emilia Anderson! She grew up to be a fucking goddess, one I'd love to worship on my bed.

Those baby blue eyes and the sadness they seemed to hide, I couldn't get them out of my head. Not that I even wanted to, I've always had a thing for her.

Taking a puff of my tobacco joint, I thought back to how stunning she looked in that red, evening dress. I bet she looks even better without it.

The full swell of her plush lips, and her ripe, bodily curves that were out on full display. The things I would do to that body...

How she ended up with such an asshole for a husband, was a total mystery to me. Why Bronx, of all people? It made no damn sense!

"Boss, here are the files you asked for." Martinez announced, disrupting my train of thoughts.

I turned around to look at him, and he didn't seemed too pleased by whatever he was reading in the file.

"Any findings?" I asked, finally discarding the tobacco.

"It says her both parents and only sister are deceased. They died in a car accident." Martinez said, making my frown deepen.

Suddenly, the sadness in her eyes began to make sense. I could imagine the kind of pain she had to go through alone, and for the first time in a while, I felt bad for someone.

"Any information on her marriage to Bronx?" I asked Martinez, who was still reading through the files.

"Not really, Boss!"  He replied.

"Although, it says the marriage took place immediately after...you know?"

I hummed to myself, as I mulled over this new piece of information. The fact that she was getting married immediately after such a tragic incident, had me with a lot more questions.

I spent years away from her, running my father's mafia empire in Sicily. I became very feared and powerful, but I couldn't protect her. I wasn't there for her, when she probably needed me the most. I wasn't allowed to come for her.

"Do you want us to do anything about it, sir?" Martinez enquired again, ready to take orders from me.

It would be way too easy to just take Emilia from that dick head, but I needed to be sure that she wanted me to do it.

"Not yet, Martinez." I replied my consigliere.

"She still doesn't know who I am now."

"You don't think she'll be able to handle it?" He asked me, closing the file in his hands.

Sudden lightning, followed by the loud clapping of thunder, echoed through the rainy night.

From the looks of it, Emilia had been through her fair share of hell. I didn't think I knew what she could handle anymore.

"I don't know," was the simple reply I gave Martinez.

"...but she's your best friend, right?"

"Was!" I corrected him.

"We were just kids back then."

A sense of nostalgia washed over me, as I thought back to the times we attended highschool together.

"And now? She means nothing to you?" Martinez persisted with his questions, making me go silent.

My mind flashed back to the ring I saw on her finger earlier tonight, the way she sat close to Bronx at the dinner table, and how she pulled away from me, when she saw him approach us.

Martinez looked like he wanted to say something again, before his cellphone suddenly buzzed.

We shared a brief look, before he took his call, and I watched his face contort into a frown.

"What?" I asked him immediately he was done with the call.

"She's here." He answered, looking me right in the eyes.

I instantly knew who he was talking about, and my surprised expression mirrored his own.

The next minute, I was storming out of the study with Martinez following right behind me.

I had given her my address and asked her to come over, but I didn't expect it to be by this time of the night. Did something happen?

Running down the flight of stairs, I came to a sudden halt, as my eyes finally landed on a shivering figure, right in the middle of the living room.

"Emilia?!" I whispered in utter shock, as she turned around to face me.

She had her arms wrapped around her barely covered body, as she seemed to have been totally drenched in the rain. Her lips were trembling from the cold, and I immediately took off my suit, wrapping her in it.

There was a dark bruise on her left eye, and a cut on her lips. Her eyes were red and swollen, and I didn't need to ask her who was behind it. I instantly knew, and from the looks of it, so did Martinez.

He probably did this to her because he saw her with me.

"I...I didn't know where else to run." She muttered, before melting into my arms and sobbing profusely.

"Ssshh...It's okay!" I cooed, stroking her hair gently.

"You're okay now."

I continued to whisper softly into her ears, as she clung onto me like her life depended on it.

I didn't ask her anything, didn't pull away either. I just stood there and allowed her to let out her tears.

Knowing glances were exchanged between I and Martinez, as he silently awaited orders from me.

I gave him a subtle nod, and that was all he needed to be on his way. He knew exactly what to do.

I was personally going to make Bronx pay.

Emilia~I was restless. Panic coursed through me, as I watched the scene unfolding before me.I knew I had to do something. I had to do something before they kill her in the process.Martha's feet were shaking in the air, as she struggled to breathe. She was tied to a chair, just like they did to Bronx. A towel was placed over her face, and Marcelo's men took turns pouring water onto the already soaked towel.Whenever they removed the towel, she would go into a fit of coughing and wheezing, before they would start all over again. Marcelo took sips of scotch whiskey, as he watched with glee. That sick bastard was enjoying this."Let her go!" I said, standing right in front of him. Despite the fact that I tried to appear bold, I was still so terrified on the inside."... please!" I added, hoping to at least, get some empathy out of him."This wasn't her idea, it was mine. Emilia~The journey back to the mansion was a rather silent one, as neither of us made any attempt to speak to each other.Marcelo's eyes were fixated on the road in front of us, as he drove at a speed that showed how furious he was. I could tell he was pissed from the way his grip hardened on the steering wheel, and how his jaw kept clenching.I had to stop myself from screaming in fear, every time he narrowly escaped hitting someone or something with his car. It was impossible to tell if he was only driving like that because he was pissed, or he was just such a terrible driver.Soon enough, we arrived at the mansion, where a number of heavily armed men were patrolling the perimeters. Emilia~A couple months have gone by since everything that happened between Chloe and Martinez. Things were slowly falling back into place, as Marcelo seemed to have found himself a new consigliere.I no longer had nightmares that keep me up all night, and I was grateful for that. I considered myself extremely lucky for having someone as sweet and as considerate as Marcelo. In a couple days, we'd officially be tying the knot and getting married. However, that wasn't the only thing I was looking forward to.I was counting days to my due date of delivery, as my stomach had gotten way bigger. My feet were very swollen, and I had added a few too many pounds within the past months. There were times when I woke up feeling disgusted by my reflection in the mirror, and ultimately slipping into some form of depression. I would look at former pictures of myself and compare them to the way I was looking right now, and all I'd do is cry and complain.Marcelo had always been patient with me all

I had already made up my mind to stop him from going out today or even tomorrow, pending when I stop getting dreams like that.Marcelo finally stood up to leave, after having been dressed up for work. He gave himself a once over in the nearby mirror, before grabbing his suitcase.I stubbornly maintained a position in front of the door, determined not to let him leave."Seriously?" Marcelo arched an eyebrow at my antic, and I couldn't tell if he was annoyed or amused by it."I'm not letting you out of my sight today." I said stubbornly."Because of one scary dream?" "Not a dream, Marcelo. It's a nightmare." I corrected."Besides, if you can get to tell me when I can and cannot go out, I s

Emilia~The crowd was gone, and it was just me and Marcelo in the open clearing. Martinez's personal belongings lay on the ground before us. It was time for Marcelo to set them ablaze, but he was hesitating for obvious reasons.Turns out that setting fire to the personal belongings of someone you love, wasn't really an easy task. He bent down to pick a particular portrait of of a younger version of himself and Martinez. They were both in suits, and Martinez was the only one smiling in the picture."Our first mission together." Marcelo said in a nostalgic voice, running his fingers across the framed portrait. "He was the first alliance I ever made, even before I got my freedom from my father. He advised me to take the first step to my freedom, and that was how ended up being a mafia boss in the first place." "He was a brave man." I butt in from beside Marcelo, as we both looked at the portrait."Very brave." Marcelo agreed, before dropping the portrait back with the other stuff. "I

  • HER ONLY CRIME   Just human

Emilia~Mourning the departure of a loved one was done a little differently in the mafia. Members are mandated to tattoo the name of the deceased onto their skin, as a way of ensuring that the individual would never be forgotten. Personally belongings and pictures of the deceased would also be burnt for whatever reason, and members were not allowed to shed tears, at least not in the public.Another thing was their unique way of burying their dead. Basically, they are allowed to choose how and where they want to be buried in the unfortunate event of their demise.Apparently, Martinez had requested for his body to be burnt, so here we were gathered in the middle of a large clearing. My eyes were fixated on the enormous fireplace that had been prepared for his body. I should say I was surprised by the number of people who were in attendance of Martinez's funeral. I saw both familiar and unfamiliar faces, some of which Marcelo took his time to tell me about. It was a Mafia's funeral,

  • HER ONLY CRIME   Not for long

Marcelo ~My father got away.Learning about that particular information had succeeded in pissing me off to no end. What do they mean by "he got away"? How could he have had information about our arrival on such a short notice."Listen, I don't care how long it takes or how much money it's going to cost me. I want you all to find that man and bring him to me." I seethed into the phone."Dead or alive, I want him here by tomorrow. Understood?" There was no hesitation from the other end of the phone, as my answer came almost instantly."Perfectly understood, Boss!" I hung up the call to make a series more, but then I realized that all my angry shouting was probably being a disturbance to Emilia. She had been in the bathroom for quite some time now, which was understandable. She had so much blood stains all over her. I turned to look towards the direction of the bathroom, and I could see her naked silhouette through the steam covered, glass walls. This way I was keeping an eye on her

She exclaimed, doing a little victory dance.I stayed right behind her, as she peeked her head through door to inspect the environment outside. She put her head back inside, before looking at me from head to toe. Chloe seemed to have a doubtful expression on her face as she regarded me, and it got me feeling a little anxious. I wanted to know what was going through her mind."What's the matter?" I questioned, a worried expression etched onto my face. "We're going to have to make a run for the elevator at the end of the hallway." She said, still eyeing me in a somewhat skeptical manner. I gave her an unimpressed look, as I registered what she was trying to say. "I just don't know if you'll fit in it." She remarked, like I was really that fat. "Haha, Chloe. Very funny!" My sister screamed at the top of her voice, as she knelt beside my quivering body. Her movements were frantic, as she was unsure of where to touch me and how to hold me."Please! Anyone, help!" She continued to cry out desperately, looking down at me with fear in her eyes.I was having a seizure, or at least that was what this was supposed to look like. I was also in awe of Chloe's acting skills, as she managed to look and sound pretty convincing. We were both doing our best to put up an act that would make those men walk right through the door. It was all part of our plan."She's going to die, please help!" Chloe became more frantic, going as far as banging on the door to give the impression that she was in a panicked state. The door suddenly opened to let in two of Donatello's men, and they looked pretty convinced by our act. One of them even appeared to be visibly paler, on seeing me. I was glad that everything was going according to plan."What the hell is
