Is she pregnant?

"She is pregnant, Mary," Anna listened from the door as the doctor confirmed her pregnancy.

"Are you sure?" Mary asked.

"I am one hundred percent sure. I did three different tests and they all came out positive," the doctor replied.

The door opened from the inside and Lady Mary walked out. She glanced at Anna before walking away. Anna considered going after her but thought against it.

What will happen to me now? Will they kill me or force me to abort the baby? Anna wondered in fear. For the past two weeks, she had refused all the food they served her, thinking it would help her, but she was still pregnant. Pregnant with another man's child, a man who wasn't her fiancé, who didn't know anything about her and didn't love her. How would she face Desmond when she saw him? He would be really mad at her, Anna thought as she paced in the hallway.

The door opened, and the doctor came out. "You know you shouldn't have that look on your face," he said, smiling at her.

"Are you sure that I'm pregnant?" Anna asked.

"You are. I would never make such a mistake. I'm the best doctor in this country if you haven't heard," Doc Remo bragged, trying to cheer Anna up.

Anna went up to the small room where she slept and sat down.

I need to think before they come for me," Anna thought to herself, I think they'll really kill me. Well, maybe I deserved to be killed. I didn't obey the rules, I broke the rules and should be punished for it. She got teary once again, crying a lot these past few days.

Upon reaching the small room, she entered, shut the door, and locked it before sitting down. What should I do? Anna wondered. I need to think of something. How do I save myself? How can I make them keep me alive? Begging them won't solve anything. Should I offer to work for them till the day I die in exchange for keeping me alive? Should I offer to leave the country? Should I tell them to abort the pregnancy? Wait, what if their only condition is that I abort the pregnancy? I don't know. I don't know. Anna ruffled her hair crazily. I can't think of anything meaningful. Lord, help me. What should I do in this condition? Forgive me and help me.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. "Anna?" Bay called out. "Open the door." But Anna ignored her. "Anna, are you in there?!" Bay continued knocking until she suddenly stopped. After a while, Anna heard Bay's voice again, and realized she had gone down to call the guards to open the door. Two guards followed Bay, and one of them opened the door with a spare key.

Bay immediately rushed in to find Anna lying on the bed.

"Anna?" Bay shook her harshly. When she confirmed that Anna was still breathing fine, she exhaled out in relief.

"Oh my goodness, Anna, you scared the shit out of me," Bay gasped.

"What on earth is going on?" Lady Mary shouted from outside. Bay's shouting had alerted her, so she had to rush up to check the situation.

"Nothing, ma'am. She's fine," Bay answered.

"What will happen to me now? Will you guys kill me?" Anna tearfully asked as she got up.

"Prepare yourself. Tomorrow morning, you are leaving the country. We have your passport and everything needed ready," Lady Mary announced.

"I don't understand. What do you mean by leaving the country?" Anna asked, getting up on her feet.

"It's what you heard, Anna. You are leaving the country tomorrow," Lady Mary stated.

"To where?"

"To America."

"Will you kill me... Will you kill me there?"

Bay burst out laughing, and Lady Mary scoffed at her but didn't answer her question. She left with the guards while Bay remained with Anna.

"Is it funny? Is my life funny to you?"

"Who told you we were going to kill you? Girl, you are thinking too far. You should be so grateful that you are pregnant."

"What does that mean? Explain to me," Anna moved closer to Bay and demanded.

"No dummy, no one is killing you. Haven't you noticed? Can't you tell? Can't you fucking tell that we are all delighted by this news?" Bay scoffed and sat down on the small bed.

"Delighted? Why? Why on earth?"

"Because you are the first, you are the first lady his seed has ever survived in. You are the first to get pregnant for the King of all criminals," Bay laughed.

"Gosh, stop laughing. I'm dying over here, okay?" Anna burst out in tears once more.

"Just tell me... Tell me what my fate will be."

"Okay, I'll tell you. You are going to live, you will survive. Okay? We need you to survive because you might become our next queen. If you successfully give birth to that baby, your life will totally change, Anna. We need that baby to survive, and in order for the baby to survive, you need to survive first."

"So that means you won't kill me, and you won't be aborting this baby either?"

"Never. Nothing of such will happen. Now that we have confirmed your pregnancy, we will protect you with all our might. We will die protecting you if it means you'll survive with the baby. That is how important you have become to us now," Bay explained with a smile.

Anna exhaled loudly and sat down on the bed. She took her hand to her chest and massaged it. It felt like a burden has been lifted off her chest, and yes, it has.

"So what will you eat now? You need to eat for the baby," Bay said.

"I... I..."

"See, don't worry. I got this. I'll get you something very healthy. You haven't been eating well, and we have been allowing that before, but we won't allow it again. You need to eat now, even if we have to force the food down your throat." Bay winked."

"Just kidding, but you have to eat," Bay added before she left.

Ace left for his room after the conclusion of the meeting, and his Consigliere followed closely behind. "Tomorrow is the last day of the meeting, I can't wait. I'm already exhausted," Cosimo yawned as he followed but stopped walking because of Ace's sudden stop.

"Do you have anything to say, Padrino?" Cosimo asked.

"I was with a girl, I was with a girl on our first day. Find out who she is," Ace said.

"A girl? A normal girl or a servant girl?" Cosimo ran to his front so he could see his face.

"Just find out who she is," Ace glared at him, went into his room, and then shut the door on Cosimo's face.

"How did I forget her?" Padrino wondered as he walked to the table. He opened the bottle of vodka that was already placed there for him and drank from it. A fresh memory of how he spent the night with this strange girl came to his mind.

"Fûck, it's been two weeks already. Why am I just recalling her face now?" Ace thought and pulled out a chair to sit down.

A knock came to the door, followed by an announcement. "Come in, Mary," Ace groaned, and Lady Mary walked in. She bowed before speaking.

"About the girl you were with, she got sick and left. Seeing her condition, I didn't think twice before letting her go."

"Which day? When did she leave this building?"

"She left on the 10th, sir. And in case you are wondering, sir, she has a fiancé, and they will be getting married next week as I've heard, so..."

Ace looked up at her in annoyance and asked, "What does that mean?"

Lady Mary bowed and said, "I'm sorry, sir. I just thought I should let you know."

"Get out and call Cosimo on your way out," Ace commanded.

Lady Mary left, and shortly after, Cosimo came in. "You called for me, Padrino, what's up?" he asked.

"Find out the location of the girl we talked about and where she lives by tomorrow. And do not tell or ask Mary about it," Ace instructed.

"Why is that, sir?" Cosimo asked, and Ace glared at him. "Do you like her? If you do, tell me, I'll be more interested in finding her," Ace sarcastically replied.

Cosimo rolled his eyes and walked towards the door. "Do not worry, I will find out where she lives."

The two arrived in front of what was supposed to be Anna's place. Cosimo knocked on the door, but no one answered.

"Let's go in," he said and pushed open the door. From inside, they heard loud moans and groans.

Cosimo walked up to the room, pushed the door open, and saw a couple having sex. He said, "Oh my! Look at that!" The couple became alarmed, and the guy started cussing at Cosimo.

The lady ran out of the room and passed by Ace, who was standing behind Cosimo. Cosimo turned to Ace and asked, "Is she the lady you are looking for?"

Ace shook his head and said, "I doubt she is the one. This one is a whore," making a disgusted face.

"Yes, why are you in my home, gentlemen? It better be important because I might kill you both," Desmond yelled. He was covered in sweat.

"Are you Desmond?" Cosimo asked.

"Yes, why do you ask?"

"And is Anna your fiancée?" Cosimo asked again, and this made Desmond a little embarrassed.

"Oh, she is your fiancée, but you are bringing in whores to your house," Cosimo mocked.

"Where is she?" Ace questioned from behind.

"I don't know where she is. I haven't been able to reach her," Desmond replied.

"Give this to her when you see her," Cosimo dropped a bundle of money on the floor which Desmond quickly picked up.

Ace looked around the small house before whispering something to Cosimo. He left the house and got into the car as he awaited Cosimo.

Cosimo got into the car a few minutes later and sat down beside Ace.

"You should have let me kill him. It could have been better," Cosimo said.

"You said he is her fiancé. She'll return to him. So don't kill him," Ace mumbled. As they left the vicinity, he decided to forget her.
