Shay's POV"I think the lawyers can handle this part." I placed my pen down on the table and intertwine my fingers together in front of me before looking across the table at Mr. Morris, the director of the company. As much as I like the way he easily comes up with ways of running the business, it is still my job to help him make the better decision by the end of the day. Right now, I'm starting to feel unsettled about all the other confusing details of the profiting process that I just can't seem to come up with a solution that we both can agree on. I glanced back at Mr. Morris and focus my attention back on him."Yes, okay, but perhaps we should consider letting one of the board members know about this so we can also consider their opinions about this matter. What do you say?"He stares down at the table and rubs his white beard with his hand, obviously thinking about my suggestion. He suddenly looks up again and then closed the file in front of him."I agree. But first things first,
Jason's POVMistakes happens all the time. Even if we realized it later on, it's too late. The damage is already done. I always knew that I've made a mistake somewhere when the feeling starts to bother me. The feeling of being unsettled, losing focus, and trying to figure out what could I have possibly done wrong? The exact same thing happened to me right after those words left my mouth;"You're fired."It rings even louder in my head and it makes me feel agitated that what I had done was a big mistake. Although on from one point of view, I was only doing what a normal boss would do when his employee disrespected a friend of his in an unfriendly manner. I'll admit that I was kinda interested in her from the beginning and when she asked me out in the elevator the other day, I was surprised that she made the first move but I hid my disappointment in time when I realized the real reason behind her question.I swear to god, this pandemic is changing the female population in this world to
Shay's POVAs usual, I woke up the next morning when my alarm starts to ring. It took me a minute to remember that I just got fired yesterday so there's no reason for me to set up my alarm anymore because I have no job now. I angrily switched off my alarm and lied back in bed and stared at nothing but the ceiling above me. I can't believe that jerk! He obviously took his friend's side and fired me just because I told her off. I stayed in bed for another five minutes before I finally decided to get up and get ready for breakfast. No job now which means there's nothing else for me to do and just bore myself to death with lame activities that occupies my time.I put my hair up in a bun and right before I grab my necklace to put it on, a sudden thought popped into my head. Jason's friend is the reason why I got fired and she will pay for it. I quickly grabbed my laptop and sat on top of my bed and Google her name.Jaliyah KengHer results popped up in the screen and I was surprised to lea
Shay's POVThe next morning when I sat down at the table for breakfast, mom instantly gave me that weird look that I always hate, while signaling the maid standing nearby to refill her cup of coffee. I ignored the way she was staring at me and just ate my breakfast quietly without a care. I have a feeling she might start telling me something I won't like so I started to eat quickly before she gets the chance to do so."Well this is new, I thought you always have something to do in the morning which is why you rarely eat breakfast at home." She said with a curious look on her face."I do have something to do every day, but today felt like a nice day to enjoy my breakfast for once." I easily lied. She has no idea that I had been secretly working at C&E Holdings and ever since I got the job, I had been very careful about every move I make and what to say when they start asking questions. I know that my parents won't accept what I was doing cos unfortunately they do have other plans for m
Jason's POVA morning with the sun still rising from the horizon, dew droplets glistening in the grass and on the leaves from the trees, a few early birds in their vehicles rushing past my car just to avoid the morning traffic that is yet to happen, this is the time of the day that I really loved. It's so peaceful and quiet and the atmosphere is calm with the first ray of sunlight filtering in the car. This moment every morning always calm my mood before I get entangled in my work life every day. It makes me wish to just keep driving while enjoying the view of the city stirring up awake. Cafés brewing their fresh batch of coffee, restaurant workers pulling up the window blinds and turning the close sign to open, men jogging down the street while older couples walk their dogs. This is perfect, and there's nothing that would make me get tired of this every day.I parked my car out front and threw my keys to the valet before making my way inside the building. As usual people are already
Shay's POVI was surprised how time flew by so quickly during the day that the next thing I realized I was led into a classy looking restaurant with Sylvia by my side while the rest of our co-workers walked ahead of us, their voices ringing in the air with excitement evident in their voices. I had never been to a company dinner before so it was clear that I was a little bit nervous that I haven't actually said a word to anybody the minute we arrived. I tried to focus my attention on everything around me with a little hope that I might find something that will spark my interest. My eyes wandered around the hallway with the golden lighting dimmed, the fancy portraits on the wall, the beautiful flowers in their vases standing aligned on each sides, everything seems so perfect the way it is that it was nearly impossible to ignore the word 'money' screaming from every corner which is something I'm used to seeing all the time. The front receptionist led us into a private space away from the
Shay's POVAfter having my dessert, I excused myself to go to the ladies room to do a little retouch on my makeup before we all start leaving and call it a night. I opened the door to the restroom and placed my clutch on the counter and looked at myself in the mirror. My hair looks a bit messy and my lipstick had faded a little bit and my face looks a bit damp. So not a good look.Did he see me like this?Oh god, that would be embarrassing. I ran my fingers through my hair to straighten out the curls and picked my lipstick out of my clutch to apply a new coat. The door to the restroom was suddenly pushed open making me jump in surprise when I saw that it was just Sylvia."Sorry, didn't mean to startle you." She said before coming up to my side and checking herself out in the mirror as well. I chuckled and continued applying my lipstick on."Do you want me to give you a ride home?" I shook my head and placed my lipstick back inside my clutch."No thanks, I'll just take a cab or call an
Shay's POVI walked up the steps towards the front door and that's when I noticed the lights in Shawn's private study room was still on. His study room is located on the other side of the house separated from all the chaos and noises that happens inside our home. The room was actually bigger than a normal garage and it's very well furnished and styled and it's pretty cozy too with a big leather couch inside along with the wall bookshelves and his table and drink cabinet occupying the space too. It's the only place where you'll find him because he normally spends a lot of time in there.I retraced my steps and strolled across the lawn towards his study room and went inside. He was sitting in his big leather chair relaxing with a drink in his hand and his eyes focused on the wall. I instantly smiled when I saw him and softly knocked on the open door."Hey."He quickly turns around in his seat and grinned back at me before placing his glass on the table."Oh hey, did you just get home?"
